Reviews For the Secret of Slytherin
Author's Response: Let's say I wanted to keep the option open while I was writing the story. Now that I'm finished, I'd say the story should be classified as pre-slash, or that you're meant to infer that a more physical relationship between the two characters is at least possible. Now that I'm messing about with the sequel again, I have to decide for certain whether the pair really enters such a relationship or if I'm going to 'flirt' with the idea again...
However, I must admit that I am very disappointed in the ending. I really think that Harry should have been the one to get rid of Voldemort. I feel as though I've just wasted 6 hours of my sleeping time reading about Harry when he wasn't even the one who "saved the world". Up until chapter 47, I would have rated your story a solid 10 and one of my top fanfics. But the ending was just too unexpected. Author's Response: Some folks did have trouble with that ending... they REALLY wanted Harry to be the one who did it. But the truth is, he did... without his capacity for love, Voldemort would still be alive. However, I recognize that it's a let-down - and it's meant to be. Harry was gearing up to do this task for the whole series... call me perverse, but I sort of enjoy a pull-the-rug-out-from-under-the-reader ending. I'm glad you enjoyed the rest! ;)

Excellent twist!
And you're right - Harry showed himself as Slytherin in a most Gryffindorish way!
This was such a fun chapter. Nicely filled with twists and turns along the way. Then it suddenly smacks up against the stone wall that is Narcissa Malfoy! *gulp* Well done!
I really enjoyed reading Hermoine's initial responses to the wizarding world. You described her feelings quite well. Thank you.
Good for Hermoine for seeing through Harry's actions to the correct conclusion. Outstanding reaction.
Author's Response: Thanks so much! Did you notice the lack of such consequences in canon? Urg. -K
“Why?” Snape snapped angrily. “Is this some part of the boy’s sacred Hero Training Programme that I have missed? That he must stumble upon extremely difficult mental techniques completely independent of anyone’s aid? Perhaps it’s written next to the bit where he battles ancient serpents with the aid of a hat and a firefowl?” Author's Response: Thank you! Making fools out of my readers is my goal as a fanfiction author. My dream is to one day make you snort soda up your nose while reading a Snape/Lupin interaction. Tell me if I am successful. -K |
