Alright, because this story has been done and posted for a while before I discovered it, I was going to read it all and then give you a large review at the end.
You, however, have finally broken that resolve:) This story has been a roller coaster. Thank you for no slash! Ron, Draco, Hermione, Snape, Harry, Lupin are all exhibiting slight behavior differences but I can't say that they'd be totally OOC for any of them. Frankly, this Harry is a relief. Canon Harry is almost painfully obtuse at times and can be agonizing to read.
I normally dislike Draco, but, again he's different enough to really enjoy his disparate behaviors. Rawling never really evolved him past being a one-dimensional character for whom we feel little or no sympathy.

    Author's Response:

I, too, occasionally found Harry's behaviour painfully difficult to read once in awhile.  Every now and then I'd get the urge to shake the book and shout, "you fool!"  I wrote a smarter Harry essentially in self-defense.  ;)

OMG! Dumbledore. AHHH what'd he do? Great chapter.

    Thank you!  :)

Title: Epilogue 24 Nov 2007 6:27 pm

I love this story!!!! *huggles* I've just spent about three hours reading all 5o chapters plus prologue and epilogue, and I'm still in love with it!! It's got just the right amount of humour, angst, friendship...all that kind of good stuff... And I adore the plotline!! I also really like the characters who, though they're pretty different from the books, are still really believable. Ron, Draco and Hermione are represented in all their multi-faceted wonderfullyness. What's there not to like?

And I like the fic recomendations as well... It can be impossible to find a really good fic, sometimes, but you've given me a good list to start on! Thanks!!

And thank you so much for writing this great story... It has to be one of the best Harry Potter fics I've ever read!! And I love you for it =D

    Author's Response:

Wow!  Thank you so much.  I wish I could convince other authors to rec things in their author's notes.  Chances are, if I like their story,  I'll like to read what they do...

I'm glad you liked the characterization.  That's the hardest - and most fun - part of writing fanfiction, I think.

Hope to see you around P&S!

I really like the beginning of this story, and don't know why I haven't read it before . . . but I have to wonder, why is there only a week between Harry's borthday and the start of classes? His b-day is the 31st of July, and the Hogwarts Express doesn't take them to school till the 1st of Sept. That's a month, not a week! (And plenty of time to get work done . . .)

    Regardless of that, onward!

Draco never ceases to make me wonder. Just what have his roommates been up to exactly? Lol. They're up to something, certainly.

Oddly both Snape and Harry seem out of character, but I suppose that is intentional, so it's understood. Hmm, can't wait to see what happens next!

    Author's Response:

    Completely.

Cool, I also can't wait to see this upcoming interaction. I find I can relate with trying to write a character one way, only to realize at the conclusion that they pretty much create themselves. Frustrating, that. But it's how the greatest writers get across, so it's nice. I really like this, I hope you keep writing it (if it's not already complete, that is)

    Author's Response:

Definitely complete, at least this arc.  Though I am considering a sequel.

Draco still is a prat, same as always, don't get yourself down overmuch on that fact. I'm afraid he may never change, but oh well. So far the "slaving" of Harry is pretty hilarious, I would agree with Snape on that point.

Still amazes me, your ability to just draw the reader in with your immense grasp of your story, I'm loving the story so far. Even though, Harry seems to be getting a raw deal, and it's a bit confusing, I see that that may be your way to withhold things not necessarily essential to the plot right now. Which is good. Keep writing!

    Author's Response:

That definitely is my way.  It makes some people literally angry - the same way Dumbledore does: "...be patient, Harry, and all will be revealed in due time..."  Heh.  ;)

Strange coincidence really, I felt I should point out. My penname on fictionalley.org so happens to be "Oscura", but I got the reference from a psychology text. But in both it seems to retain the same general meaning, "darkness." And Harry's back in class! That really makes me smile. keep writing the way you do, it truly is phenomenal.

    Author's Response:

Bless you for reviewing!  And yes, Obscura is mangled Latin, hopefully fitting in with JK's Latinate incanting.  It means 'in the dark' or 'hidden', in my interpretation.  :)
