48633Isn't Snape just an awful father... oh, I know the situation gets resolved - I read this fic once already, but I cannot help thinking that it really is Snape who makes all the mistakes: he bullies Harry into doing things he doesn't want to do, he lies (even if it's by omission mostly, it's still lying), he's betraying secret from one 'son' to the other, he's breaking promises and conspires with Harry's friends against him, he uses if authority as a teacher in family matters... and as always Harry's the one feeling guilty. While I can imagine canon Snape like that I find it hard to believe Harry would take those things lying down lake that. But then again, this is AU. And Harry's kind of in prolonged under-the-weather state.
I actually can't really find any compassion in me for your Draco character. Even though he is likable in this fic, kind of. But turning your back on your life when things shock and disgust you (i.e. the meeting on Samhain) and then suddenly trying to sneakily make nice with your former enemy, isn't exactly a redeeming trait, in my opinion; I think I've yet to see an altruistic action from Draco. In fact, this Snape-Draco combination seems almost as bad as Dumbledore..

Snape's actions don't make him see very trustworthy...Harry should just tell him that if he continues with his plots Harry will not be able to trust him any longer. That should sort him out I cannot decide if I like of dislike your Hermione; I think she's very canon, I can very much picture her doing and saying things like that..

If I were Harry I'd have exploded already^^ But really, I'd think he'd be more verbal about people discussing him behind his back and making decisions for him. Like some chapters back, in the hospital wing, when Snape was blathering about Draco's choices, but conviently doesn't give Harry a choice about who to spend his time with...situations like that always make me feel for the Harry Potter character as so often portrayed in fanficion; it always leaves me sitting at the metaphorical edge of the chair waiting with rapt attention for the sh.. to hit the fan...

"Snape had made him welcome. But Dumbledore said he was welcome even when he clearly wasn't.
Harry knew which of the two he trusted most." For some reason, that just made me go, "Aww!!" You are an awesome writer, and you write Draco and Severus and Harry and (your version of) Dudley just *perfectly*!

Ok, this is just wonderful!!! Absolutely fabulous.
I loved this part: "He was a wizard, and a powerful one, and if he had to put up with simple charms blasting walls apart, then he'd damned well better be able to Occlude like never before, too!"
And don't even get me started on the sheep and geese. I couldn't be more impressed with this fic so far if Rowling wrote it herself. Hats off to you!

WOW - thanks for an unforgetable journey (and the longest fanfiction I have ever read) - I finished it in four days (who needs work!) - it was fantastic - I loved the wide range of insights and connections you made to the real world and how 'real' you made their struggles, thoughts, emotions, challenges, and triumphs. Thanks! I can't wait to start on the sequel (though maybe I should check in to make sure I still have a day job)! GREAT PIECE!
