    This story is still has such a unique feel even though there are so many out there like it. I loved Severus trying to help Harry concentrate and Harry's almost total inability to do so. The seer dreams are still a wonderful device--so intriguing and heartwrenching what Harry has to do. And I also loved how his final acceptance of Severus' trustworthiness came down to a remembered scent, the scent of Severus and his potions.

    ummm... so. Your story officially = my canon. I feel like every single chapter, whether suspenseful or not, is a cliffhanger, because as soon as I'm done reading one, I'm chafing at the bit for the next one! Your characterizations are absolutely phenomenal: realistic and risky and flawed. So many stories have super!Harry, woefullyabused!Harry, evilmean!Snape, or fluffy!Snape that I could write one in my sleep. Your characters, however, are so perfect in what they're not: they're not caricatures, they're not ideals, they're not simply there to fulfill plot devices. But they're perfect in what they are, too: they're just amazingly real.

    And you've got a spectacular plot, too! So basically, you're just too good to be true. You should have seen the embarrassing happy dance that I did when I saw you'd updated. No other stories make me happy dance!

    I could wax poetic about your manifold authorly virtues, but unfortunately, I have about a trillion applications to review tonight, plus two very unfortunate projects to complete. Thus, I will merely highlight the favorite points:

    The ending of the chapter is nummer eins: It just surpasses any and all fluffy Snape-Harry moments in its subtlety and Harry's realization that maybe he could trust Snape with his life.

    The twist: Harry's voluntary sacrifice. It is reminiscent of JKR's own plan for Harry, but you've already done more emotional exposition than she did. This was beautiful.

    Harry's future wife! 'Nuff said. I'm not a rabid shipper of anything, but just the idea of Harry having a future is so poignant after everything he's been through - and his incredulity that he'd have a family! It was painful and beautiful and almost tangible.

    Harry's impatience and Snape's exasperation made me snicker. A very realistic Occlumency lesson for them at this very tenuous point in their relationship.

    And basically every word you wrote. :) I'm eagerly awaiting the next installment! Happy writing!

    I'm so happy that you like my characterizations!  I've read enough HP fics to be quite annoyed when Harry comes off too brilliant or downtrodden, or when Snape sees one thing in Harry and turns unrealistically fluffy.  I was worried that my desire to write them a little more realistically might make people might think it was moving too slowly, so I'm glad to hear that you like it!

    Well, since you asked so nicely....here's a review.

    First---it's so wonderful to see an update! It made my day!

    There were so many good moments between Harry and Severus, Harry's synopsis of Severus' 'hypothesis' speech, trying to find a way to help Harry focus, Severus helping Harry to wake up, and calling him "Harry" only to have Harry refuse to believe it's him.

    While this vision was encouraging, it also is quite the challenge for Harry to hear that he has to surrender to Voldemort voluntarily. I guess this is the chance for Harry's Gryffindor courage to shine through. What a terrible burden, though. I hope Voldemort and Death Eaters won't torture him though. Poor kid has already suffered so much.

    And I love that it's touch that helps Harry Occlude--nice way to ensure that Severus has to be there at bedtime, huh?

    And I'd love, love, love a sequel once this one is done!
