Oooh... I like. And I assure you, if it weren't for the fact that I knew there was a sequel, I'd be badgering you for one - this simply wouldn't be enough!
Well done! ^^ (Ah, and I feel I should point out that you did especially well with the present tense. That's a tricky one - I certainly have trouble with it. Not many people seem to pull it off, but you did.)
Ah, I like this. A good proper Harry-Snape reconciliation story where Snape is snarky and tossing multisyllabic insults, and Harry is resigned and defiant in turns, and yet they still manage to come to an understanding. The style was a bit disconcerting at first - I'm not used to third-person present-tense - but I got used to it.
This was an amazing story, I can't wait to be done reading the sequel!! ^^

I love this! Snape and Harry are so in-character, and I love how you defined their connection - they did have similar childhoods, but neither of them really benefited from the connection in canon. Lovely!
I love this little story. I'm going to go search your profile for more!
I think I've said it before, but this story is amazing!! I love your Snape! And the touch with the toy soldier is really cute - not sappy at all, just cute. :-)
I always thought this was one of the very best stories in the genre...your characters all stay perfectly in character (which is a HUGE challenge for a writer when working with other people's characters), and your Snape's transition from hating Harry to caring for him is one of the most believable out there. I never got a sense of a leopard changing its spots too quickly, and all of it was handled with delicacy, precision and verve. Awesome job - truly unequaled!
