    Amazing end to an amazing story. I like that you quoted the original story near the end to show that while there are differences, in the end, Harry's fate is quite similar.

    Thank you for a truly enjoyable story. Snape's unique way of looking after Harry, Harry's life in Slytherin etc add up to a very good read. Looking forward to year two.

    Hi! I just read through this whole story and liked it very much! Your Harry is charming, and I like how you've given Harry friends without recreating the Trio; Nott takes some, but not all, of the Hermoine role, but she's still in the story (uniquely!) and Ron still advances two plot points as in canon, but not others. (I had thought you might bring him back for the chess; the Baron was an excellent way to get through that.

    Eagerly awaiting the next chapter (and second year).

    That was a truly touching chapter -- even worth the wait! I could clearly feel Severus' emotions as he confessed to Harry that his shameful treatment was due to his own feelings of hurt that Harry had rejected him. I'm glad they have straightened things out. There's hope that Severus can eventually convince Harry that he is worth a great deal.

    Yes, that is my hope.  I don't think anyone ever took the time to tell Harry that he was worth anything to anyone except by being their "savior" and the BWL, and, for me, it's one of the saddest things about the original books.  Thanks for your review!

    Brilliant! This is so, so good! I love the detail of Snape hiding under the cloak in the last chapter :) Every bit of dialogue is pitch-perfect. Did it take a long time to get just right?

    Yes!  I brought my rough draft with me to Ireland and hammered at it several times while there, and again upon my return before it felt right.  I didn't want it too sappy or sentimental, nor too tight and controlled either, and I'm glad I seem to have hit the right notes.  Thank you for reviewing!

    I'm glad you had a great time in Ireland! My family is leaving tomorrow on vacation to DisneyWorld and I'm so tired from getting ready. So this will be a short review, I'm afraid.

    But lovely, lovely interaction between Severus and Harry. I'm so happy that everything is straightened out between them now. Looking forward to Year 2!

    Author's Response: Oooh, DisneyWorld!  Fun, fun, fun!  I went when I was 10 and it was the best trip ever . . . until I went backpacking thru Europe when I was 22.  :)  Thanks for the review; I'm hard at work on chapter 51!
