Reviews For Better Be Slytherin!
I liked how Severus was beginning to wonder about how Harry's talents mirror Voldemort's, and how Voldemort vanished, leaving Harry with the scar, in their first encounter. Hints of Harry being a horcrux perhaps? And if so, when will Severus figure it out? I imagine it will be devestating for him. I'm curious to see the outcome of this lesson. Severus has learned the truth, and I believe Harry may be very unsettled at the whole prospect of having Severus in his mind...I know I would be very upset at anyone, even someone I cared for, having access to my private thoughts. Of course it is necessary, but I still think it would be hard to deal with. Looking forward to more! Author's Response: Thank you, Kristeh! Yes, Snapw will have his hands full keeping Harry safe. And I am setting up the possibility that Harry's extreme amount of power is because he got a bunch from Voldie, and could be a horcrux. And yes, Harry's not keen on having Snape in his head, but Snape's not keen on being lied to, so they're even! :-) Or not. . . . I hope to have a new chappie out soon, but I'm working hard on the next one for Before the Dawn.
Author's Response: Thanks for the review, kreacher! One thing is sure about Occlumency: it won't be as bad as in canon, at least interpersonally.
Author's Response: Yeah, no doubt about it, that Occlumency will be a lot different this time around. Thanks for the review!
Author's Response: Thank you! I hope to have a new chapter out soon.
Author's Response: Thanks!
I am very excited for the Occlumency lessons. I really like the Baron in this story, though I think I've told you before. It was so sweet when Snape came to Harry's rescue. Loved that bit. And loved the book with the pics for Harry from Snape. ANd that Harry was so happy about it. It was a great read. Thanks so much, and I hope you will feel all right. Author's Response: Thanks! Yeah, the Baron is one of those unmined characters that I've decided to, uh, mine for this story. Like Teddy and Millie -- and a host of other unexplored Slytherins -- there's plenty more to them than what JKR presented.
Author's Response: Thanks! I do enjoy writing about the Baron -- he's one of those characters I can play with a lot, because there's so little written about him in canon.
I liked seeing the incident between Ron and Snape from Harry's perspective. And the whole part about Harry's gifts was great as well. I liked his reaction to the cloak and the way he thought of Snape. Author's Response: Thanks for the review and the well wishes, too. I'm hoping to get on a bit of a faster update schedule this summer. We'll see. :-)
I like how you've given Harry a talent besides Quidditch and his magical abilities. The way you had him develop his skill and his pleasure in drawing was very believable. It makes sense that he'd have to do something during all those hours he was locked in his cupboard...whether it was drawing, daydreaming, or some other something. It's only a wonder he didn't go insane, come to think of it. I loved, loved, loved how uncertain Harry was about whether he should give Severus a present (and I'm so happy that he did, since it did mean a lot to Sev), and how excited he was about receiving some gifts for himself. That was always such a sweet sad little scene for me in both the book and the movie. Neither Harry nor Severus has much experience in giving or recieving presents, another thing they have in common. But perhaps things will be different for both of them now. I liked how Harry is developing a friendship with Hermione and I hope he can with Ron, too. I enjoy his interactions with Millie, Teddy, and Draco, too. It was really very mature and loyal of Harry to see that Severus was trying to help him in the snit with Ron when they were playing chess. I liked that. I'm curious about the Baron's reaction to Voldemort. He seemed unusually fearful, especially for a ghost. And I can't wait for Harry and Severus to begin Occlumency. Hopefully, it will go better than it did in canon for them! Again, it was a wonderful chapter and I'm looking forward to more! Hope you feel well and stay well! Author's Response: Thanks, Kristeh! I'm glad you agreed on the natural outcome of Harry spending hours and hours in a confined space -- as you said, I can't imagine how he could keep from going stark raving mad if he didn't have a hobby like that; I certainly would have. As for Occlumency . . . well, the lessons in this fic could hardly go worse than in canon, eh? ;-) Thanks for your well wishes, too, it means a lot to me. --Rachel
Author's Response: That's certainly part of it -- we know from canon, for instance, that a basilisk's gaze can affect a ghost, so it makes sense that other things might, too. Thank you for your review! |
