"Harry keeps his eyes trained on the back of Snape's head as he takes his place at the front of the procession, and wonders to himself what he looks like in Snape's mind, whether his likeness there is etched in stone or whether there is still room to create himself more like the person he wishes to be."
God, that's a killer line. As much as I'm enjoying the story, it's the little gems that surprise and devastate!

Holy crap, that was tense.
I loved the sequel to this as well but I think this was the chapter that brought all the different pieces and themes together and made it worth the emotional investment. Everything here is perfect, including the writing, which hints just enough at emotion while allowing the reader to fully invest their imagination and their own reaction without too much "telling, not showing", if that makes sense. Really wonderful.
