Oh no! Evil, evil cliffhanger. Well, now I know how you all felt, anyway. :oP

Loved this chapter and the previous one too. I loved especially the "dad" part. That was pretty great. Awesome.

I hope Harry's alright, though. Hurry with the next chapter, please!

Author's Response: Thanks for the review!   I'll try to update again by the weekend!

Definitely evil. Man people on this site love to torture and hurt poor Harry! However I must protest the lack of brains in all three for not checking the package. I mean, come on, Harry just got well from being captured and tortured, plus with his past he should trust no one...one word portkey. Hermione alone should have checked the package, especially with a student they didn't recognize. Love this Sev. Keep up the great work and Happy New Year.

    Author's Response:

Thank you, and Happy New Year to you, too!  Well, at least Harry isn't really conscious for all this with the cursed necklace.  He won't remember the screaming and convulsions, so that's a lot better than if he was aware of it.  I'm really very soft-hearted and can't bear torture scenes.  The little bit I wrote way back in ch. 3, or maybe it was ch.4, was all I could manage, and I could barely stand that.  I usually have to skip the torture scenes.

You do have a point, with the possibility of the parcel being a portkey, but thankfully it wasn't one.  And I don't know if I made this clear, but Harry didn't actually open the wrapping to see what was inside.  He turned it over in his hands; there happened to be a small rip in the paper, and Harry's fingers brushed against it.  Very similar to what happened with Katie Bell in HBP.

I'm so glad you like Severus.  I think I've softened him up considerably from canon, but I just can't help it.  Thanks again!

Oh, I can just hear you laughing that "evil laugh." That was was a humdinger of a cliffhanger!

So glad Severus has seen the error of his ways with Harry. And that Hermione had the sense to use the mirror.

Hope you're writing fast because we need the next chapter NOW! Hee hee...

Author's Response: Thank you!  Yeah, I made it pretty obvious that Harry was going to need that mirror, didn't I?  I'm re-decorating my daughter's room and will probably be pretty busy with that for a couple days, but I hope to update again by next weekend, or at least on Saturday or Sunday.

Well it is now 4 a.m Sunday morning, I started reading your story from the beginning around 1am, thinking that I would read a chapter or two, and then call it a night. However, my initial plan did not work out as I became more and more enraptured with the story and its overall plot. Kudos on a great story! I just wish that I had read this story before hand, however I have to admit it was nice to be able to go from chapter to chapter without delay. Although, I do apologize for not reviewing every chapter. Well I can't wait to see what happens with Harry and the cursed object, hopefully Severus will be able to save the day without serious repercussions for Harry. I wonder if you plan on making this story into either an adoption or at least give Severus custody of Harry, was that "Dad" foreshadowing perhaps? lol. Alright, well excellent chapter, I can't wait to find out what happens next, hopefully you won't make us wait too long. Thanks for updating and giving us something to enjoy.

Author's Response: Wow, thank you!  I hardly know what to say, except that I'm very happy you found my story and are enjoying it!  Thank you for leaving such a great review...I've got a big smile on my face reading it.  You know, I've said all along that Severus' and Harry's relationship would remain unofficial...that they would become very close, but I would avoid Severus adopting Harry or becoming a legal guardian.  But people keep mentioning it, and in the last day or so, I've begun to reconsider.  So who knows?  Maybe Harry will end up adopted after all.  Anway, thanks again, so much!

That was really a fast chapter *wow*
And a great chapter as well...
Your cliffie... well, I'm sure you will let Sev and Dumbledore heal him - otherwise you should add 'character's death' to your warnings *smiles*
Anyway, thanks for the quick update, and I'm looking forward to the next chapter :-)

Author's Response: Aw, but Teddy, there is a 'character death' warning for my story!  Thanks for reviewing!

I like the twist with Harry touching the necklace. Poor Harry just isn't going to get a break this year. Pretty please with cherries on top can you update again soon?? :)

Author's Response: Thank you!  Well, in some ways Harry has it rough, but at least he isn't really conscious for any of this--he won't remember anything about being cursed, so that's better than if  he was aware of it all.  We've started re-decorating my daughter's room, so I won't have a chance to write for a few days, but I'll try to update before next weekend.

Awww...*giant smile spreads across face* Love, love that ending. It's just soo perfect. Almost, too perfect and I have a feeling that something is going to happen that will make Harry happy Severus is so paranoid. We'll see, I guess! Keep writing! OH, and YAY for the site being back up, with updates! (I'm going to be busy tonight!)

I really liked how you set up Dumbledore's lessons, it makes sense and it's a great improvement to have Severus along. I also enjoyed their discussion afterwords over hot chocolate...And I adore Severus' adversion to sweets, he's so silly!

It's also really great to see how their relationship has progressed. I gasped out loud when Harry snidely remarked, "Yes, Dad." And, of course loved the awkwardness that followed. It was played out perfectly and I adored how they handled it later in that scene, Harry and his insistent need to apologise. *scoffs* I do wonder if this is going to be a Snape adopts Harry fic, perhaps at the end of this year, yes? Especially since Severus has displayed extreme dislike towards the Dursleys...hmmm...

I always love the Trio in its entirety in your story, they're just soo perfect! I want to give them all hugs for making Harry not feel so alone and singled-out. (Hug for you too, of course!) Hopefully, Harry never forgets how important his friends are to him and keeps them close at hand.

Well, until next chapter! Happy Weekend!

    Author's Response:

Thank you!  I loved reading your review!  I'm glad you approve of the way the lessons with Dumbledore are going--hopefully it'll sort of streamline the plot, and give me more time to write important things, like Severus and Harry, lol.

I do think Severus and Harry have come a long way, and it was fun putting the 'Yes, Dad' line in there.  Harry intended it as a joke, but then realized that it was sort of true--that they really are starting to act like family, more than professor and student.  And then he was afraid that Severus would be uncomfortable with the idea so he quickly retreated.  And I think the line kind of gave Severus a jolt, but he doesn't really mind.

As for adoption,  I don't know.  I've planned all along for their relationship to remain 'unofficial' as far as the legal side goes, that is, not having Severus be Harry's legal guardian or adopted father.  But that's mainly because they spend most of the year just getting close, and by the end of the year,  Harry will almost be legally of age anyway.  But they do grow very close, and Severus is very committed to Harry.  Being with Harry, protecting him and guiding him will become Severus' top priority, actually, by this point it is already.   So in all the ways that really count, in their hearts, Harry and Severus will become father and son, even if it's not actually a legal adoption.

And Ron and Hermione are great!  I've always loved them, and thought that Harry was lucky to have them at his side.

    Thanks again!

Finally a new chapter - yeah!

Dumbledore's lesson was just the right length. Sometimes, scenes (in other stories) are too close to the book and become really boring then. Here, you efficiently managed to avoid that :-)

I'm looking forward to the next chapter - obviously the three are in for trouble?!

    Greetings :-)
    teddy

Author's Response: Thanks so much!  Yes, that's kind of what I was thinking about the Dumbledore scene.  As for the trio being in for trouble?  What makes you think that?  *whistles innocently*
