Reviews For Emerald Eyes
Author's Response: Thank you! I'm glad you're enjoying the story :)
I was very proud of Snape too, for being so patient with Harry. It was great to see him trying so hard. I'm very pleased to see their relationship progress, it's coming along nicely. And of course, it's great for both of them! Snape gets to indulge in his almost non existent parental nature and Harry has someone looking out for him and thus has expectations to meet and rules to follow. I was very pleased with how the whole scene played out, it was very well written! But I wonder, is Harry going to go back to Myrtle's bathroom and see Mrs. Norris and the writing on the wall? Or, are you not going cannon? Either way, it'll be interesting with Snape and Harry's new realationship to test them. I'm looking forward to the agnst of Ron coming to terms with Snape's not-so-terribly-mean-ness. It should definatly be interesting and I can't wait!! Until next chapter! Happy New Year and belated Voldemort's birthday! Author's Response: Keeping them in character, especially Snape, is harder than it seems. lol. I really appreciate your comment about that ;) The subtleness of their growing relationship is something that I work with carefully. I think for Snape, even in canon, to be able to protect a child without question, regardless of the reason, requires some sort of parental instinct. I suppose it's just flourishing in this story...lol I won't be following everything that happens in book 2, but Myrtle's bathroom will reappear, just in my own way, I suppose ;) Ron will be in the next chapter! Hmmm...wonder how he'll react... Thanks so much for the great review! You always leave me amazing feedback :) Hope your new year was great!
Cheers, Delaine Author's Response: lol...well thanks! I've been known to be the teacher who has to constantly clamp my hand down on on a pencil-tapping hand or two... That drives me nuts. I've only been teaching for a few months, and already I'm noticing how annoyingly energetic fourteen/fifteen year olds can be even at 7:30 in the morning...lol. So since Harry is twelve in this story, I suppose he's allowed to be that way too...lol. Thanks so much for reading and reviewing twice! That's awesome.
Author's Response: Thank you for encouraging me twice :) You're the best!
Author's Response: Thanks Beth! I'm really glad you're still enjoying the story. I'll try and post a new chapter of this story as soon as possible :)
This chapter was great. Snape was so patient with Harry until he ran off. The boy does have a habit of running directly into danger, so I can understand Snape's frustration. But hopefully, with Snape's agreement to include Harry in the investigation, that habit will be broken. Not! I loved the way Snape had Harry use a potion that he had brewed. What a way to get the boy to realize that he really can do something in potion. And I like the fact that Snape compliments him on his successes. Harry doesn't get that often enough. Well, at least not for the true successes. My favorite part, though, was when Harry realized that Snape actually has expectations of him. Every child needs that, especially coming from someone who will hold him to those expectations. Thanks so much for the update. Definitely a good day for your readers. Take care and have a great New Year. Be safe. Author's Response: Yes, he does have a habit of being impetuous, but did you notice how he kept turning around like...yes, he's following me!...lol. Poor kid. I try not to make Harry a gigantic dolt who gets into trouble just because he can...Most of the time, it's for the sake of someone else. Or maybe because he's young and doesn't think before he acts a lot of the time. The subtle compliments will do Harry a world of good, you're right. I don't think that Harry would be the kind of boy who could stand being coddled. I'm really glad you enjoyed the "expectations" part, as that is a key factor in this story. Thanks very much for all of your great reviews! I love reading them.
Author's Response: Thank you so much! I was a bit worried about this chapter, thinking it was too boring and maybe even a bit dorky, but I'm really glad you enjoyed it. I need to quit beating myself up before I post, I guess...lol. I love the fact that you approve of my version of Harry... I don't try to make him deliberately annoying...just twelve. Again, thanks for the great review!
I was reading anxiously at the beginning wondering why Snape was being so cautious as they walked to the second floor. I thought Harry was about to get a real life practical demonstration on defense and then he did, sort of, but not the way I thought. I thought for sure they were going to be attacked at any moment. Now, was the suspense deliberate or is it my perception, since I should have been in bed before the alert was even sent just as I should be in bed now? I like the small touches and pets Snape is giving Harry. A gentle hand on Harry's shoulder. Snape's hand on his back. Does he even realize he's doing it? My guess would be no, but my hope is yes. Thank you again for the wonderful update and for sharing the story with us. Have a Happy New Year!!! Author's Response: Aren't the Snape and Harry moments just the greatest? I shake my fist at J.K. for lacking that interaction in the books, but then again, she's brilliant, so I go right back to admiring her..lol. I was definitely not going to skip over the Defense lesson, as it was important in the story, I think. I had the biggest smile on my face while reading your review! As for Snape and his kindness toward Harry, he may not realize it sometimes, but I think it's impossible to be completely unconsious while giving an encouraging squeeze to the shoulder or even complimenting on Harry's successes ;) Thanks again for the encouragement. It's amazing. Have a great New Year!
You are an amazing writer. I really want to know how Harry and Snape are going to find the baskilis (I'm sure I spelled that wrong but I don't feel like looking it up right now). Will Harry still end up fighting it on his own? Please update soon. I love your story! Author's Response: Well, I think it's basilisk, but no worries...when I first began writing that part into the story, I definitely had to consult the CoS text...lol. But thanks so much for reading and reviewing! I'm so glad that you're liking the story so much. I'll try and update this one as soon as possible!
Well done! Dancingkatz Author's Response: Thank you! That's really encouraging to hear that the story is getting better...as opposed to the story sucking a little more each time...lol. I'm really trying hard to balance the sternness and kindness in Snape's character without ruining it completely. It's hard work sometimes! Really glad you liked the spell! That was something I'd been thinking about for quite awhile and just had to fool around with the latin and such to get the spell right :) Thanks again for reading and reviewing! |
