Reviews For Lily's Charm
Title: Chapter 51: Silence 11 Apr 2008 4:37 am
Reviewer: Kristeh (Signed) [Report This]
I had to laugh, even in the middle of all the tension, at the Sticking Charm and Harry's grumblings about it. He's such a teenager sometimes! But seriously, it does sound like a good idea. They wouldn't want to be separated at some crucial moment.

The part where Harry hugged Dumbledore, and knew to thank him for the documents, was so sweet and beautiful. I loved it.

Now I'm very, very worried about what's going to happen next...so I'm off to read some more!

Author's Response: I love writing Harry as being normal (well as normal as possible...LOL).  Harry forgives Dumbles.  YAY
Title: Chapter 50: Unexpected 11 Apr 2008 4:24 am

Oh, this was an awesome chapter! I loved the father/son interaction all the way through, and I just want to hug them both.

I'm glad Severus has realised that he needs to be strong for Harry, and I loved how he assured Harry he would be wherever he was.

'Harry James Snape'...just lovely, a really lovely, moving scene.

The meeting at GP was quite tense, and I'm very worried that the plans won't go as they're intended. It was so typical of Harry to want Remus to stay safe, but also very typical of Remus (and Tonks) to refuse to stay away. The good-byes were so sad...I'm really hoping some happy reunion scenes at the end now!

Author's Response: The Harry James Snape scene is one of my favourites of the whole story.  Glad you enjoyed it.  Goodbyes are hard but here very necessary. Poor everyone.

    This chapter was incredible.

It was almost like poetry. I became totally immersed in it; seeing images in my mind of what was going on, yet the images were nebulous and so somehow I was more focused on the emotions that the words were creating. It was really an experience to read. I've read it twice now and will read it for the third time after I finish this review.

Author's Response: Thanks!  I am having a hard time realizing that it's like poetry.  I am not a poet.  :oP  I'm so glad you could see all the pictures and images while reading it.  Just what I was hoping for.  YAY  Thanks so much.  I'm so excited you liked it!  :oD

Yes, I should be shot for attempting to read this quickly over the last few minutes of my lunch break. It was too tempting. But now I've gotten a thorough read-through in, and I think this was, without a doubt, your most intense chapter yet. Well, obviously...it was *meant* to be. *rolls eyes at stupid self*

But you wrote such a challenging chapter so beautifully. Every word was perfect. I mean that. You didn't over-explain. You didn't leave us with an abstract, jumbled mess. This chapter was heart-wrenching. And it sounds strange, but I could clearly picture the whole scene in my mind. You sent my imagination through a tornado with this one. And that's a good thing. ;)

I love how you played on Voldemort's manipulative nature. And you actually wrote the most satisfying battle I've ever read without using one scrap of spoken dialogue. There wasn't the corny..."You don't get it, Riddle!" sort of thing that unfortunately made me cringe in DH. This was just...*sigh*...I'm at a loss for words. You've really done it this time... LOL.

Must I even mention that your descriptive language is stellar? For some reason this stuck out to me like something jagged and powerful and I don't know why:

"You are not his son, the brutal glacier tore at the storm’s security. And already the storm was dithering.

Dad? the stupid boy asked. The wretched fire didn’t even stir.

He wants you, Harry, Severus soothed his son, keeping his flames fast and strong around him. Do not listen to him. Harry’s storm was calmed again."

**The use of the word 'stupid' here is so significant, because it's as if we're in no one's brain...or everyone's...just an observer. And Harry isn't seen as some battle warrior with all of the answers. He's simply the 'stupid boy' trying to fight his way out.

Freakin' brilliant, Tabitha. Did you even know what you did there? *tackles you with a hug*

I've said it before, but you should be proud of yourself for creating such a story. And I hope you consider writing poetry one day, even if only for yourself, because you definitely have a gift with words.

God, this is...this is...*looks around madly* (I've no words to describe the brilliancy of this. Forgive me).

    Author's Response:

Thanks Jade!  I'm so tickled you liked it.  This was my most concerning chapter and my most fun as well.  It was a really different prospect of a chapter completely in the non-world.  Without substance or form.  And it was really hard.  But I had so much fun with it.  I just love to imagine, i guess.  And I sort of felt like I was writing poetry .  I don't write poetry so it was a strange experience.  LOL  Glad it worked though and that you could see the pictures I was creating.  :o)

I loved the stupid boy line as well.  Harry in this story is very much just a boy.  He's confused, easily hurt, tender, tumultuous and not anything close to a warriort.  He's just Harry, a lost boy who's found something to hold onto.  I'm glad you liked that.

Um...I'm not really sure I did anything significant, but glad you liked it nonetheless.  :oP

Thanks so much for your awesome review.  You always make me happy!  So, thanks.  :o)

Let me start off by saying: YES!! VOLDIE'S VAPORIZED! (Almost literally, too!)

Did you plan this out so much from the first real occlumency lesson that Sev and Harry had to know that Voldie would be represented as ice? I just love all the imagery that went on here, and that flames are awesome at melting ice...that's all. *shrug/big grin*

Ok, good news: Voldie's got his horcrux back.
Bad news: Harry and Sev might be dead...that sucks. But...good news: they get to see Lily, Remus *tear*, and Sirius. Bad news: we don't know if Malfoy is there...even though we all know that he deserves to be.

And that's my main reasoning for not letting myself believe that Harry and Sev'll stay dead for long (well, on the real side of the veil, anyway), we still don't know what went wrong on the Malfoy's part of the plan, how many horcruxes Dumbles and Minerva destroyed (although I suppose it doesn't really matter, but I'm curious) and just what the heck Bill, Mad-Eye, and Shacklebolt were doing standing by the whole time...or what happened after Harry, Sev, and your ex-husband entered the shadow world.

And you jerk! (Sev, not you, OE.) Why didn't you just tell Harry that it was his fault!! This is a horrible way to find out!! I HATE VOLDIE...good thing he's dead.

    Rant over.

This was like poetry (I read the yahoo board for once before reviewing) and it was beautiful. It certainly was an enjoyable and enlightening read...you certainly are a Jill of all trades!

Oh, and thanks for not making us wait long for this update. Do you know when you'll have something else to update?...but I don't know if I want it to end...thanks for the ride.

    Author's Response:

    YAY!  Voldy is dead!  Woooooo-hooooooooo

Well, Sev and Harry didn't know Voldy was ice but I did, yeah.  This story and all its strangeness has been planned out in my mind since the beginning, much like hte crazy sequel that I have planned for y'all.  Yep the flames were there melting and Harry's storm created lightening to shatter said ice so yeah, they worked well together, didn't they?  Yay, mind/souls (whatever they are)!

Voldy has his horcrux and it no longer inhabits Harry's soul.  ROFL  No Horcruxectomy.  YAY.  They might be dead, true.  You're a vicious one, aren't you, PK?  Wishing for Malfoy to die.  tsk tsk.

That's true, I just sorta left you hanging there, didn't I?  Bad Bride of Darkness!

Why didn't Sev tell?  Well, he didn't want Harry to feel guilty for getting him tortured to the edge of death...  Probably not the wisest of all decisions but he was trying to protect Harry.  Bad Sev!  They will likely need to have a long, angsty talk about that one.  :oP

I'm so giddy that you thought it was like poetry. I felt that way as well when I was writing it and I am not a person who can write poetry so I was really excited about it.  It was really fun to write Voldy as well.  Evil is fun!  Do I know when I'll have something else to update?  As in chapter 55?  Not to long I hope.  It's not ending, just pausing to bring us in a slightly new direction with the sequel...  Thanks for the review, PK!  YAY

    Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow.

I absolutely loved the "battle of the minds" in this chapter. Everything was abstract yet at the same time, not.

You really had me worried when Harry started to succumb to his fears. (So typically Harry - everything is always his fault) But Severus did a wonderful job of pulling his son back to his side again.

Hmmm, a peaceful mist, huh? Oh please, please, please tell me they're going to get to see Lily at least for a little while. :-)

Eagerly awaiting the next chapter of this wonderful saga. Thanks!!!!!

    Author's Response:

Thanks so much, Cee Cee!  (love your name!)  I'm so thrilled you enjoyed the mind battle here.  It was extremely fun to write.  It was sorta like writing poety, I found.  Harry takes on way too much, just like Severus said at the Cottage before they left.  But yeah, Severus was right there for him as always.  A peacefulu mist.  You'll just have to wait and see where they're going...

Thanks so much for the lovely review and I'm so happy you enjoyed it so much!  :o)

Uhm yeah, you and your mom rock! Awesome chapter. :)

Author's Response: I'm sure my mom would appreciate the sentiment!  She was my sounding board for this one.  Thanks so much for the review and I'm so happy you liked it.  It was really fun.

Yes!! Voldy's dead! Sev & Harry rule!

Great chapter, and the battles scenes are always short, at least they are when I write them, though they exhaust you afterwards.

Author's Response: Ding Dong, Voldy's dead!  YAY  Sev and Harry are great, aren't they?  Love them.  Yeah, this battle seen was actually extremely fun.  I really like writing evil.  :oP  Thanks for the review.

YES ! I had wondered for some chapters when the fact that it was Harry's fault Voldemort found out about Severus would come up ! Ok, i can breath now ! In. Out. In. Out. Oh maybe I'll have a hot chocolate too, that was quite a stressful chapter ! But one way or another, they are safe now... and together. Life or death, that's what matters !

    Author's Response:

YAY Keina!  They are together and Voldy is banished.  I'm so glad you feel that way though.  Together.  :o)

And yeah, it was Harry's fault.  Poor Harry.  Not a nice way to find out, is it now?  Glad you can breathe again.  I know it was stressful but really it had a happy ending.  Sort of.  :oP

    Thanks for the review, Keina!

So angsty and so perfect. I just want to read the next chapters!
    Thank you!

Author's Response: LOL  I'll get them up as fast as I can.  Thank you so much for the review and you are very welcome.  I'm so happy you liked it so much.  :o)
