I just reread the chapter for the second time, and it just kind of makes me want to lay flat on my back and stare at the ceiling with an enormous smile on my face and enjoy my "gooey" feeling inside (somebody else called it that and I'm going with it).

It's so hard to pull out my favorite parts because I loved it all from start to finish so intensely.

Severus isn't back from the dead for five minutes and he's already snarking at Poppy. ("I believe I can attend to my son's bedtime." HAHAHAHA!) And immediately he jumps back into "I've got to take care of Harry mode because clearly he's about done in." Really, because if Harry hasn't even taken the time to eat and Poppy's spelling nutrient potions into him, Harry was in obsessive mode about taking care of his dad and not taking care of himself in the least. But I did love Severus putting his "dad" hat on from the get-go (that's different from his Goofy hat, but I digress.)

I ADORED the cuddling in bed, because it's one of my favorite times I share with my kids. I hope they're never too old to keep doing that with me. I get that same contented feeling when they are sleeping next to me. It had to be my favorite part of the chapter. I'm so glad that Severus finally managed to convince Harry that he came back for him because he truly wanted to and loved him. And he said I love you! Sigh....

I don't know if I'm convinced either that it was Severus' fault that Voldy found out. I truly wouldn't put it past him to take the blame just so Harry doesn't feel responsible.

I'm sure we're far from over seeing Harry deal with his emotions over this. He pushed the anger at his dad far back behind his shields, but no doubt they will rear their ugly head at some point.

I think Severus is ready for some of the fallout of the wizarding world finding out he's Harry's dad, but I'm not all sure Harry is prepared for it, especially after Molly's reaction. They've been sequestered for a week and not having to deal with it. It's going to come roaring at them very, very soon.

The next conversation between Remus and Severus should be interesting. I'm sure Remus will be filling him in on Harry's state during that week.

So who gets the hug for this chapter? Well, Harry and Severus are pretty happy and if I interrupt their time at the moment I'm sure I'll get hexed. So I'm going to go chase down Poppy for her extraordinary work in healing Severus' body to such a degree that Harry could bring his dad back. Oh, and Remus gets a kiss on the cheek for quickly disappearing so father and son could spend some time together in private.

I just feel like I have to print this chapter out, fold it up and stick it in my back pocket and pull it out and reread it whenever I need a pick-me-up today, that's how much I adore it. :-)

    Author's Response:

Oh, Cathy.  You never cease to make me smile!  I loved that back pocket comment.  That's just how I feel.  This chapter is really cathartic for me.  I have read it a dozen times since I posted it.  Sigh.  I'm so happy you are all enjoying it so much. *gooey, gooey smiles*

Yes his dad hat is just a wee bit different from Marcie's goofy hat.  LOL  I'm glad you liked that part though.  Severus is way way protective of Harry and yeah, Harry was pretty messed up through the week.  We of course didn't get to see it as all we saw the inside of Harry's head and he didn't have any thoughts to sleep and food.  That will need to be remedied though.  It should be interesting tomorrow, especially after Severus gets finished with grilling Remus.  LOL

The cuddles were fun.  Harry finally gets to do the things he should have done years ago.  Awww.  And yep, Severus finally gets to say I love you.  Wow, the guy has really grown.

Hmmmm......we'll just have to wait and see about Voldy.  :o)

Oh, our Harry is far from recovered from this.  The physical repercussions alone still have to be dealt with and seriously, Harry is just wrung out by this point.  It should be an interesting week, especially as they have other things to deal with...like the rest of world's reactions and Harry wanting to keep that promise that he'll never do anything wrong again and he certainly isn't going to want to let dad out of his sight.  LOL

Hugs for Poppy yet.  And Remus.  Because yeah, we didn't see him, but you just know he's waiting in the wings!  :o)

beautiful! absolutely beautiful. you have no idea how much pleasure i get from this story :) i cried the entire part where Harry was sorry for making Sev come back... it broke my heart to hear him say that. but sev's reassurances were wonderful... he's a great dad :)

Author's Response: Yeah, he really is great, isn't he?  He's been changed so much now.  Very hard experiences but so necessary for both of them!  I just sort of glowed when you said you get pleasure from the story.  That makes me so happy!  I'm so pleased you are enjoying.  And that you liked that chapter.  It is my current favorite.  LOL  I'm glad I could make you cry too.  LOL  Harry really did need to get that whole anger/guilt out of his system.  Good thing Sev was there to help him!  Thanks for your kind words!

This was just an amazing chapter all around!! I was seriously bouncing in my seat for the greater part of it!

The emotional release and consequential upheaval at the beginning of the chapter was amazing and really hard to read. I just felt so bad for Harry, he never really understands what Sev is feeling and thus is under the wrong impression...almost all the time. But it was good to get all that pent-up emotion out. His desire to rage at Sev, "No, I'm not ok, you left me!" was tangible. And then Harry's misunderstanding Sev's comment of, "It feels as though only an instant has passed" was hard too. But finally Sev got it into his head that there was no question of him not coming back.

I too enjoyed Pomfrey's bossiness. She's a great source of normality within their lives, you just know she's always going to act the same way. That's why she's just so cool!

    *cringes* Puce robes? Oh, Dumbledore!

I must agree with JoliGSD that Sev did not let his shields fall, thus alerting to Voldemort that he is Harry's dad. I think that telling Harry at that point in time would have had extremely dire consequences and Harry would not have been able to handle it. However, if that is indeed the case, I'm worried for when Harry does find out the truth. Because, knowing Hermione, Ron, and Ginny, they'll be probing Harry for details soon enough (especially since he's not left the infirmary nor Sev's quarters for a week) and will ask the same question he asked himself, "Why would Voldemort be probing around his most loyal DE's mind for clues about HP?"

Harry's awkwardness and conflicted feelings of wanting and not wanting to sleep next to Sev was perfect. It truly is sad that Harry never received that attention when he was younger but he should have realized that Sev was being serious and simply wanted to be close to his son, he was worried about him, for the night. I was bouncing up and down with more ferver than usual for this particular scene...

Sev, why didn't you just take a pain-killing potion? *sigh*

"Severus held back the urge to sigh, feeling as though they’d stepped back into September." This was hard to read; hopefully they catch up and are back on 'normal' terms soon!!

I kinda hate it when Harry always comes to the wrong conclusion about Sev, but that feeling always goes away when Sev explains it all. He's really good at that, well, at creating the confusion and then cleaning it up.

Awww...and Sev kissed Harry's head, Harry relaxed more, and Sev got to say I love you. This was defiantly the best part of the chapter. I was hardly sitting down anymore...soo giddy...still. Dang you OE!!

But it was nice that that expression of feelings loosened them up into lighter topics. Even with the darker discussion of how Harry was able to keep his shields after he thought Sev was dead was nice, for Sev felt pride in his son and told him so. Aww..

I just loved all the little things in this that demonstrated that Sev loves Harry...the constant physical contact, the stroking of hair, wanting Harry to be comfortable, being concerned about his sleeping and eating, constant disregard for his own comfort and emotional hurt, just the overall need for Sev to make Harry understand and feel loved was wonderful.

I believe this chapter recieves my vote for favorite, as well.

Thank you for sharing! I for one will be fine with weekly updates again, I find myself not getting much done anymore outside the world of Harry Potter. But, that's ok!

Good luck with the next chapter, enjoy the rest of your weekend.

    Author's Response:

LOL  I just have this image of you literally bouncing in your seat as you read.  LOL

I'm glad you enjoyed the 'emotional upheaval' of this chapter.  It was a hard trip for Harry but well worth it.  He got a kiss from his father and and "I love you."  YAY.

Yeah Sev should have taken a potion...he'll regret that in the morning but I have a feeling Severus is not going to be caring too much about himself or his own needs for quite some time.

LOL about Harry's friends poking him for details.  Hermione certainly will be most curious about the Voldemort question.  :o)

I love that you pick up little details like Dumbles' robes.  Hee hee.

Poor Harry, never having a chance to be taken care of as a child should be.  These two have lots of catching up to do.  Harry really does not understand a lot of what his father is feeling but that's normal I think.  He just needs constant reassurances.  I think they've come a long way now...things should be able to settle between them.  They have created an unbreakable bond.  :o) Yay for saying I love you.  That was a huge breakthrough for him.  What a changed person he is.

Yep, Severus can certainly express him better now.  Awww.

I'm glad you noticed all those little bits with Severus showing his love for Harry.  I seriously have warm fuzzies just thinking about it!  LOL

Thanks so much for your review.  Oh and yes, you should have been so excited about the whole snuggling with Dad.  When I read you wanted to see that on the board, I was grinning so much, just waiting for your reaction to what I'd written.  So pleased you liked it!

This is now my favorite chapter! I knew there was one like this coming! It was just the perfect emotional release after all the tension of the past few chapters. I almost want to snuggle with Severus myself, but I'm afraid that he (and my husband) might not understand it.

I loved how Poppy was being her usual self, trying to give advice and orders, and Severus was just kind of brushing her off. Poor Poppy, will she ever be appreciated?

And the interaction between father and son was just perfect, from the beginning when Harry was afraid to look and see if Severus really was alive, to the end where he fell asleep in his father's arms, it just all made me sniffly and teary-eyed and all gooey inside.

I especially loved when Harry was worried that he'd made Severus come back and leave Lily, and he felt guilty and worried that Sev hadn't really wanted to come back. And then Severus reassured him on that point, that he and Lily had never for an instant even considered him not returning to Harry. Btw, it's very believable to see that Harry still does have a few insecurities around Severus, but I was glad he did confide in his father, and hope that will continue.

I loved how Severus told Harry he didn't have leave to go to sleep, and how Harry at first worried that he was too old, but he still crawled into bed with his dad...it's okay, Harry, you two have a lot of time to make up for. And speaking as a mom, I hope my kids are never too big to cuddle with me, even if they would be embarrassed for their friends to know.

And when Severus told Harry he was proud of him learning Occlumency, and Harry told him about his poor Transfiguration grade, those were nice touches, too. Incidently, Harry, if you have any more poor grades or misbehavior to tell Dad about, this would be a very good time while he's still so mellow and affectionate.

Well, I just loved it, and I'm eagerly awaiting more!

    Author's Response:

LOL  This would definitely be a good time to tell Severus his entire litany of misbehavior.  LOL  That made me giggle.

This is my favorite chapter too.  I have been waiting so long to post this baby so yay!  I want to snuggle with Sev too, but yeah, you're right.  He probably wouldn't appreciate it.  LOL

I loved Poppy here.  And yeah, Sev was brushing her off.  It was funny.

Gooey...yes.  Exactly what I was hoping for.  :o)

That part was great to write about Harry being so worried his dad didn't want to come back.  He was really struggling there as he didn't want to give into his angry because he felt guilty about being selfish and has that darn promise to keep that he'll be perfect now so he was kinda having a little war with himself and went a little loony there.  :oP  And I'm glad you liked his insecurities but yeah, what a big step for them for Harry to be able to talk to Severus and Severus can comfort him.

I was totally thinking of my kids and how they've cuddled with me.  There still little but I too hope they never get too big, especially after something so emotionally horrible.  Glad you liked their little talk about Occlumency and his test.  LOL again about telling him other stuff he's done wrong. Severus certainly is mellow.  :oP

    Thanks for the review.

waahhh... I loved it so much! So sweet and moving, I could not have hoped for anything better, really!
    Thank you!

Author's Response: YAY!  I'm so thrilled that you liked it.  I'm glad you loved it.  It's my favorite and yes, it was a bit of lovely sweetness, wasn't it?  :o)

Sorry if this is a duplicate.

Your story is great!! I love the way that Snape now knows that Lily forgives him. I was happy to see also that Lily asked Snape to forgive her -- it was really stupid of her not to trust Snape with the truth about the threats long ago, but noble of her too.
I'm guessing that it is Harry's fault that Volemort found out about their relationship, but Snape took the responsibility because he didn't want Harry to have something more to blame himself for. It will be interesting to see if Harry ever finds out and what happens from there.

    Great job!!!

    Author's Response:

Thanks, Mom!  :oP  I'm glad you got your name to work!

Snape definitely needed that from Lily.  He can finally begin to heal.   And yes, the afterlife really helped to change him into the person he can ultimately become.  It was much easier there for him to ask for forgivenes.  It was stupid of Lily but it was her son's life at stake and I'm not sure I wouldn't have done the same.  :o(

Hmm...interesting question about it being Harry's fault.  :oP

Best chapter yet. So incredibly emotional, and so well done. I'd quote my favourite bits, but then I'd be quoting the whole thing. I *almost* want it to end here so I can just bask in it.

    *Almost*, but not quite :)

    Bravo!

    Author's Response:

LOL  Well, you can just pretend it ended then.  :oP  No don't, really...you'll miss the rest of the fluffy bits.  :o)

I'm so glad it's your favorite.  It's my favorite chapter too. I've been waiting so long for this part.   YAY!

Okay, finally made it over here, re-read this for the millionth time and that line still gives me tears and chills... "I am coming with you"

*sigh* The more I read that last line the more I have to smile. The image of Harry collapsed on his father's bed, his head laying right next to his fathers chest...Severus, who I am certain is still quite weak, lifting his hand to rest it on harry's head... *sigh*

     Powerful, Powerful stuff Tabitha!!!
