Reviews For Lily's Charm
Remus and Tonks are very sweet together. I thought that seeing them together might have brought up some issues for Severus, missing Lily and all. Wouldn't be surprised, poor thing is having all his history thrown at him lately. So there appears to be the beginnings of confessions at the end of this chapter. Looking forward to the rest. Happy writing! Author's Response: LOL Indulgent Severus is fun, isn't he? LOL Affectionate Severus is fun too. Heck, all sorts of Sev are fun. LOL Yes, Harry is pretty disappointed about that Charm...but I will say, this story is called Lily's Charm so that can't be the end of the story, now can it? LOL :oP I love Remus and Tonks too. Severus would not have loved to see them together, no, but he hides everything extremely well. You never know what that man is feeling. Confessions coming up and maybe we'll get to see some more of those enigmatic emotions from our Sev! Thanks for reviewing. :o) Glad you enjoyed.
Now we truly do see just how deep Snape's pain runs. Just how deep his guilt runs. Imagine how it must feel to know that a decision you made indirectly led to the death of the person you loved. I'm not sure I could overcome that guilt. I'm guessing that's the same kind of guilt Harry feels about Sirius, and maybe even Cedric. Those two have a lot more in common than they realize. Thanks so much for the update. BTW, I saw the youtube video and it was amazing. Isn't it cool that your story has it's own trailer? Author's Response: It is pretty cool that my story has a trailer! Amazing really. LOL I love it too. Glad you caught that with Harry getting upset about Tonks being rude about Severus. It's that thing you know, where you can tease your brother but you don't want anyone else to do it! LOL We had a lot of that in my family. Snape's pain truly does run deep here. His guilt really is huge. Maybe insurmountable. I'm not sure I could get over that either. And yeah, I think Harry does feel that same guilt about Sirius and a bit about Cedric. And yes, Severus and Harry do have much in common here. Hopefully, they can help to heal one another.
I absolutly adored the 1977 spot, it was definatly an enjoyable read! I must agree that it seems that Remus has some kind of feelings more than friendship towards Lily, but it would be strange of him to act on them, for he values her friendship far too much. It was nice to see an unguarded Sev too, as well as for him to tell Lily to be careful (well, to stay away) from the werewolf, how long have Lily and Sev been...ummm...together before this particular scene? I just found it kinda strange but also really perfect too that Lily knew about Sev's parents. Well, it's really not important, but it was nice to see how involved they were at Hogwarts, I never pegged Sev for snogging in the corridor! And it's great that their relationship was 'real' to both of them that Sev could confide in Lily his past. I just liked seeing that side of Snape...and Lily, too... It was also nice to see Sev relax in Harry's presence, albeit not completely, and that fact makes me feel for him. It really is depressing the situation they're all in...oh! the agnst! But that's ok, because as Sev says, "it will not always be so." *crosses fingers for sooner rather than later!* It is amazing how good at reading his son Sev is, although Harry is really easy to understand, I suppose. But it was great for Sev to see the indescribable need of Harry's to see that Remus was really ok. *sigh* They really have come a long way. Especially now that Harry is using that natural gift that all children aquire to get exactly what they want from a parent...go Harry!...Sev, just don't indulge him too much! But I suppose we don't really have to worry about that, do we? “You know, I’m not just waiting to defy you every time you tell me to do something,” and another understanding is created. I do love this one, it was good of Harry to point out and good for Sev to know...that just sometimes, Harry has to do things he can't explain or rationalize...sooo true... It was hard to see Harry react in such a way to Sev's behavior, reminicent of earlier years. But, quick thinking on Sev's part brought Harry back to the relm of understanding...if only he'll stay there! But, it's good that his heart is involved...just use your head too! Interesting new information on Lily's charm...but I'm a little confused. Did they use it? Sev said he was too afraid to after he learned that Lily was pregnate, he didn't want to do it, fearing for her safety...so they didn't finish it. But, there was another charm, right? It was this other charm then that gave Sev the protection he has against Voldie...so...will we learn more about this Impenetrabiilis Charm? About Sev's last line...I'm certainly going to try and repair my heart in my sleep, because it is most definatly broken...I'm surprised at how deeply Sev feels this and hope that Harry is able to grant him some relief. Please don't make us wait long... Good luck with your next chapter and I'll go read Lily's Charm...What If? now...and then perhaps I'll write some more myself seeing as yesterday wasn't as productive as I had hoped it would be. Happy Week! and Good Writing! Author's Response: All right, let's see: first of all, thanks for the review! Next, you might have to go back to chapter 19: Flight to see the Impenetrabillis Charm and how it first came into play in the story. Remember Hermione found it in a textbook and we learned that it was a sort of charm to stop magic attaching itself to the body and Lily must have performed it on Snape to stop the Dark Mark from effecting Severus like it does the other Death Eaters? They also read something that Lily could have also done with that same charm that made Harry wonder why his parents hadn't already killed Voldemort? And now, Harry learns that they couldn't have killed Voldemort because Lily would have needed to activate something about the charm frist and Snape confirms this by saying he should have let her do that but feared for her to have to be so close to Voldemort in order to? Okay, well, that's all the info I gave you but up next will be some more... LOL I pictured this at the end of the year and they had gotten together near the beginning and Severus has been friends with Lily for years and Severus would have shared things with her before. I think Lily really understood Sev long before they 'got together'. And vice versa. LOL, no Snape really is not that sort but I rather picture Lily is and come on, what 18 year old guy would have minded that? LOL Severus really is growing but in my head, it's actually more of a regression back to who he was when he was with Lily...finding himself again. And,yeah Harry is sort of like an open book. LOL though...nope, no danger of indulging this boy too much. But, it was fun to have Severus do that when Harry really needed it. It was difficult to have Harry being disconcerted again by Snape's necessary coldness but at least yeah, Severus reeled him back in quickly. YAY Dad! Well, I think you'll understand better why Severus feels this guilt so deeply with the next chapter or after you've now read my recap of Lily's Charm! LOL Anyways, this guilt is a deep one and does make sense. It could have all been avoided. Too much sadness. Happy Writing to you as well! :o)
Lio Author's Response: Of course he shouldn't blame himself, and you're right as well that he could only do what he thought was best. Hopefully, Harry will understand. Glad you liked the chapter. Thanks for reviewing!
Severus sitting on the couch with a sleeping Harry and SMILING! I can just see that image...it is so precious. Loved how Poppy called Harry into her office so that Severus could remind Harry that his attitude was an act. He understands how fragile their relationship is and if possible after he has to act hostile towards him for others' benefit that he reminds Harry as quickly as he can that it truly is "an act." And Harry wishing it didn't have to be that way, and Severus reassuring him with "it will not always be so" - Severus is going to get one of those cute "Dad is #1" trophies (you know the kind I'm talking about... the little cheesy plastic thingys they sell at Wal-Mart) by Father's Day, I just know it! I was wondering where the angst was going to show up (hey, chapter titles don't lie!) and naturally, I got walluped at the end. Oh, poor Severus! Is Harry going to be angry at him or try and console him? Yikes! Write fast please! We fans need to know! Author's Response: When I first read your review I thought you were saying that Lily had an interest in Remus! I was yelling at the screen, "No, no, that's not what I was trying to write at all!" I read it again though and breathed a huge sigh of relief. Whew. A spark FROM Remus though...I think so. But I kind of picture Lily as being that type of girl that yeah, guys especially are just drawn to and can't help liking. But, that is not something Remus would ever act on...too much respect and love for their friendship. He's far too honorable, I think. :o) This did have lots of cute moments, didn't it and then I had to go and spoil it with all my angst at the end...but at least some of our mysteries are being solved a bit here! LOL I'm glad you liked Sev's dealing quickly with Harry's worry in Poppy's office. He learns quickly, that one. LOL about your trophy...he definitely will deserve one! Hmm....I guess you'll have to wait to see how Harry reacts to this news and don't forget, he too is finally starting to deal with the idea that he will have to kill Voldemort. Oh, the angst for next chapter!! I can't resist for too long! :oP
I know I've told you this before, but I really love your description of occlumency. I wonder if that's what JKR had in mind when she thought of it. It really is an amazing concept. And the fact that Snape's shield is fire/flames and Harry's is a storm is perfect. The idea of Snape giving Harry 'The Talk' is absolutely hilarious. Can you imagine how embarrassing that would be? I was feeling all happy about the development of Harry and Snape's relationship, but then I read the last sentence of this chapter. Oh my gosh, what a way to end it. Thank God I'm a bit behind on reading this and there is already another chapter waiting for me. I would have hated to have to wait on the next one. Now, on to find out what happened to Remus... Author's Response: LOL Well, hopefully you found out about Remus by now! Thanks for the compliments about the chapter and especially about Occlumency. I enjoy those scenes a lot. And yeah, that 'talk' would be pretty embarrassing but there's still lots of story to go so you never know.... :oP Glad you're still enjoying the chapter! Thanks for reviewing.
Author's Response: Ahhh...Dumbledore. Well, all I can say is that whatever happened to Remus...Dumbledore has something to do with it. LOL Sorry, no hints here! :o) Glad you enjoyed the chapter though. And yep, bonding abounds here! Thanks for reviewing.
Great characterization! I just love how Harry acts/reacts to all that's happening, it's very realistic. Especially how Severus 'gently' restrains Harry and tells him to occlude, and what do you know...it actually works! I'm very glad that he didn't shield everything, though. You kept Harry very Harry-ish, and that's awesome! I liked too how Tonks came. I hope we get to see more of her in the coming chapers while Remus is still in the infirmary. It was surprising how Dumbledore made her leave, too. It almost seems like he couldn't handle her grief over Remus on top of his own. Poor Dumbledore, in that aspect. Hopefully he's ok...not that he should be that ok...jerk! Who makes a werewolf do their dirty work?!?! Just kidding, but I know I'm not the only one who hopes you shead a little more light on this issue of HOW Remus got hurt along with WHAT he was doing!! But it's quite obvious that Harry's going to be visiting the infirmary lots in the coming week... I like the psychology here too! How Harry doesn't want to tell Ginny, Ron, and Hermoine about Remus being hurt because then it makes it real and then he'll have to accept it. Also with the next paragraph, how Remus can't die because he had to come back for Tonks, and Snape had to stick around just to yell at Harry. But, actually, they seem to do less real yelling and more hugging now a days! (All in good time, though...) It was different seeing Harry understand the reasons for Snape not being there to comfort Harry and have his friends feeling the need to explain it...maybe Harry was a little more out of it than you let on? So, I hope we get some more trio or Ginny to find out what really happened then, if there is anything else that really happened, I guess... I do really like that last line there too, before the switch to Sev's thoughts...because Harry still doesn't understand his feelings towards his father, that he would rather be with Snape and have him comfort him than be with his friends. *sigh* When is Harry going to realize that? *sigh* I also liked then how Severus was worried about his son and of course knew that he would try to sneak to the infirmary. Is that how he knew about the privacy spell??? Huh, huh? It was nice, that whole scene in the infirmary, Sev taking notice of the bump on Harry's head, realizing that he should comfort his son in some way, placing his hand on his son's shoulder, Harry needing and wanting that comfort, the hug *sigh*, Sev's increased anger at Dumbledore for making his son go through this new pain, Sev angry for all the time he has missed with his son. It was simply perfect. Perfect. I also enjoyed the exchange between father and son as Harry was looking for an excuse to stay with Severus, who, thank goodness, asked Harry if he wanted to go back to his quarters. Yeah!, too for another bout of fumbling!Harry, trying to look for the right word and still being unable to call Sev what he feels is right. It's got to be hard, but it's good that he's trying harder too. (I also noticed Harry trying to tone down his emotions lately...hmmm...is dear old dad rubbing off on him?!) And poor Severus, it does hurt him lots that Harry's not quite able to call him "dad" again, quite yet. Hopefully it gets easier...we just need some more friends to get hurt or Dumbles to show up acting like everything's just peachy so father and son can unite against a common enemy. *thinks of possibilities* Or...I suppose they could just spend some more time making potions together. (That's atleast a little less dramatic! (Hopefully!!)) OOh, almost forgot, it was kinda funny to see Pomfrey, well not really angered, but upset, umm, urgh! what's the word? I don't know, I guess upset works. It was kinda funny to see Pomfrey upset that no one told her about Sev and Harry. I wonder why she reacted that way...is there some specific reason that someone should have told her right away? Just wondering! I watched that trailer on YouTube and agree with the general population that it rocks! I wish I was that good, or even had a slice of talent that SiriuslyEnthralled has! Soo jealous! Well, I'm off, good chapter and thaks again for not killing Remus, it would have caused a total mental breakdown for Harry and the rest of us as well! Happy Weekend...ummm...Sunday, really, I guess! Author's Response: LOL What a great review! Okay....hmmm lots to cover! I'm glad you liked the Harry getting 'gently' (LOL) restrained by Sev at the beginning. The boy was about to lose it! And yes, even though he does Occlue as Severus instructs him, Harry's Occlusion methods are different then Sev's. He can allow some emotions to roam free and still be okay whereas Sev tends to bury everything. Sev is rubbing off on Harry but not too much! Tonks will be up next chapter. Dumbledore, I think is just way too controlling. He does send Tonks away partly because he just doesn't want to deal with her being there, plus he knows Harry is coming back and he also does care and think it is best for her to go and get some rest. He's not a total ***, but he isn't completely in the right all the time. Don't worry, you'll eventually know what Remus was doing, but I did leave some clues in there, for anyone who wants to scope it out a bit! LOL In the tower, Harry was struggling with many emotions. And childish, irrational ones at that as this was a time when Harry reverts back a bit to his childhood impulses...or the ones he should have been allowed had he had a family. His grief right now turns mostly to anger. At Severus for leaving him to deal with potions, at Remus for getting hurt, at Albus obviously, at sev some more for not understanding how he feels about remus. Harry is mostly just trying to convince himself that Severus has to go to whatever to help Remus, when he really really just want to be comforted by his father (but of course that need is unidentifiable by Hary at this stage), so he thinks, "Of course Snape can't be with me!" when really he's thinking, "Darnit, why aren't you with me?" LOL Hmmm...I think this was just a case of Severus already knowing what to expect of his son. He's seen him be too reckless over the years. LOL Sorry, no answers for you! I'm glad you liked the whole hug scene. That is by far my most favorite part so far. *sigh* that's all I can say. :oP Harry is still getting used to this whole dad thing...but he'll get there. Hopefully, without too many people ending up in the Hosital Wing first. LOL I'm glad you enjoyed the fumbling Harry though. He's fun. I think Pomfrey only think they should have told her because she is a healer and it's never a good idea not to have the whole medical history with a patient. It was just Pomfrey being a Mediwitch. Wasn't that a great video?! I loved it. You're very welcome for not killing our favorite werewolf...come on, I wouldn't do that? How could you even think that of me? LOL Thanks for another awesome review!
I saw the video - it was wonderous (I liked how used Johnny Depp as young Severus) Author's Response: Wasn't that video awesome! I loved it so much and yeah, I loved Johnny too...he really looked like a young Severus to me! :o) Well, of course I can't kill Remus...that would just be too much right now! LOL Glad you enjoyed the hug. That was my favorite part. I think I've already read it about 100 times. LOL And, yeah calling Severus his name is just too weird for Harry. But, don't worry...he'll straighten it all out eventually! Thanks for reviewing.
I saw the chapter title, and thought, "She did it...she killed Remus. And I'm glad I don't have mascara on because I'm going to blubber endlessly and it will make a mess on my face." Whew! Naturally, I had it all wrong again. It was Harry you were referring to (back to that). But you are really good at yanking my chain, lady. ;oP Dumbledore's in trouble for Remus' condition and I NEED TO KNOW WHY. I know, I know, I'll find out when you want us to know and no sooner. Loved Severus waiting for Harry to sneak out of the tower because of course he knows his son will do it. That was great! Can't get away with anything with that guy. The part that really leaped out at me from that section was: "Forcing himself to rid his mind of the deep feeling of grief that was welling itself in Severus’ mind, he turned toward the Floo. Harry followed." Severus WAS really confused and hurt at Harry's coldness, which did confuse me a bit. I'm assuming it was related to Remus' condition (and that he got caught trying to sneak out of the Gryffindor tower alone) and I really felt for Severus at that moment. Oh, but the hug! (AWWWWWWW!!!!) Especially for: "The childish gesture pulled something resembling a smile to Severus’ lips, while his heart plummeted with the remembrance of all he had missed with his child." I just LOVED that! (Grins from ear to ear). And Severus took Harry back with him to his quarters...he really has assumed the Daddy Mantle, hasn't he? He's trying to be do diplomatic and understanding of Harry's confusion as to what to call him, but you can FEEL how badly he really wants to hear "Dad" again. Come on Harry, you can do it! That was a nice snuzzily way to end the chapter. Maybe thinking about "his father" will continue to cement the term in Harry's head so he can get comfortable using it. Keeping fingers crossed! Author's Response: Okay, I have to admit it...I was hoping for a bit of trickery there! LOL I know, I'm terrible. But the title fit for so many things going on here that I just couldn't resist. Acceptance of Remus' friendship with his son by Severus....Acceptance of his father for real by Harry....And Acceptance by Albus too, but can't explain that one! LOL Sorry, I know I'm annoying! Of course Seveus knew Harry was going to sneak out...he's seen the boy do too many impulsive and dangerous things over the years. Harry's coldness and anger was about Remus, yeah. He was dealing with his grief and worry with anger and he was also angry as well about several feeling churning inside him...irrational, childish things but I was sending Harry back through childhood a bit with this chapter: anger that Snape went off and left him to tend to potions, anger at Remus for getting hurt, anger at Dumbles for having something to do with it, angery at severus for not caring about Remus like he does. So, it all just got put on Severus as usual, and Severus feels quite hurt by this coldness as well that Harry still isn't completey comfortable with him. He doesn't blame him but it does hurt. The hug was fun, wasn't it? :o) I'm glad you liked that particular line as well. That pulled at my heart as well. LOL, about cheering Harry on. Severus does want to hear it but he is really trying to be understanding and Harry wants to say it as well...he'll get to it again eventually. LOL I'm glad you liked the ending too. I figured you guys deserved one! Thanks for the review! :o)
