Reviews For Lily's Charm
Really love Remus here! Especially since he's able to handle the ups and downs of a conversation with Harry. And I especially love the fumbling Harry, trying to explain why he's unable to call Snape anything familiar. *sigh* But that werewolf! He's just soo great, and especially helpful when Snape (and Dumbledore) does show up, acting as though these conversations occur all the time. But, I wonder how much it took for him to beable to act so nonchalant around a very parental!Snape (which was also great by the way) because it couldn't have been easy, still. But, he did it!! And, luckily, both he and Severus seem to be snuggling into their respective roles quite well. Although it was a bit disconcerning for me to see Remus check and make sure Snape wasn't going to strangle him again if he hugged Harry. But I suppose that's not something anyone would want repeated. *sigh again* Poor Remus. I adore this parental!Snape!!! But of course, it makes sense and that makes it all the more great! And now, hopefully, he's got it into Harry's skull that he loves him dang it and wants to be a father to him! But that little diatribe of Snape's...was perfect, as was Harry's unwillingness to let his tears drop from the shame of dissapointing his father. *sigh yet again* The 180 in conversation was certainly called for as well, and perfect timing for a smile to creep onto Harry's face...talking about Voldemort, the crazy man that wants to kill me always brings a smile to my face as well. But, it was perfectly in character, all that went on in this chapter really was, and I can't go a review without saying that! It's just so true!! I don't blame Harry for his attitude towards fighting Voldie either, I'm pretty sure that's the only way he can look at his situation without going nutters. And he's had a lot to deal with lately...oh the agnst!! Keep it comming! (Although, considering the closing lines to this chapter, I think it's not going anywhere!) I'm also really curious with the history between Severus and the Malfoys that you've got cooking on the back burner. Hopefully there's more of that in the next chapter...and I remember you mentioning that there's going to be a flashback!? Yippee!! Love baby Harry and Severus!! Can't wait! Lastly, I suppose, I adored the lunch scene, something about it being their first real meal together...*heaves yet another sigh* And as for that last scene...words truly fail, except for two, that is: Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!! Can't wait for the next chapter! (That was a pretty evil cliff! But I suppose it's a logical place to stop...) Have a good week and Happy Birthday Severus Snape! I also love Stephenie Meyer and detest Jacob, more on that if you like! I'm also really glad that I decided to call my friend toda-erm...yesterday, because she told me that you had updated and that I'd love the last line...and she was right! But the reason that I didn't already read this update...I've been bitten by the fanfic bug and have actually started my own fic. I'll be sure to send it to you to see what you think (just as soon as I get some sleep!) if that's alright! Have a happy week! Author's Response: LOL 'acting as though those conversations occur all the time". I love that people keep picking up on this. Don't know why except that it's just so Remus for me. I love Remus. Once he decided to try to let Harry and Severus do their thing, he really is trying. Love that about him. It was a really hard conversation to write as I wanted him to be able to be there for Harry but also give the kid a big swift kick in the butt! Glad to see I managed fairly well. LOL Well, would you want to be strangled by Snape? :oP It wasn't though totally that he was a afraid to be strangled by Snape...he's not a coward that one, but he was more just gauging Snape's reaction so he could see how Severus was taking everything. He is trying, you know. LOL Parental Snape...yeah, now that was FUN to write. LOL I hope Harry at least got a bit of that message from Snape. He can't help but at least be assured that Snape isnn't about to throw him overboard. And yeah, it was no fun for Harry to hear that he had hurt and disappointed his father. But, unfortunately for him, it won't be the last time. LOL I did love that dazed smile of Harry's as he's about to talk about Voldemort! LOL It just seemed so--Harry! Thanks for the in character compliment. There characterizations are my favorite part of writing. Harry is pretty nonchalant about fighting Voldie, but hmmm...could those adults have been thinking something more than they were revealing? ;o) Glad you liked the whole Malfoy/Severus dynamic we've got going on. Can't promise more of that next chapter but soon anyway. And yep, there is a bit of flashback next chapter though! The lunch scene was awkward, wasn't it? But, they have to start somewhere, I suppose. Glad you liked the ending and of course I had to leave it at a cliffie. What else can you expect of me? LOL After all, Severus does need a minute to collect his thoughts for this one. :oP And, as I said, this one was for you, so yay that you enjoyed it! Yeah, I'll always engage in some Jacob bashing (yuck!). Yes, and please send me your fic when you have time. I'd love to see it. Thanks for reading and thanks for reviewing again as usual! :o)
Author's Response: Hello! Thanks for reviewing. First of all...nope no C.P. I don't really mind it in fics but it won't be in this at all. I assume you've asked because Severus said, "You'll have more to deal with than my shouting..." LOL A couple of other readers asked me about that too and it was just Snape being threatening old Snape, same as he said earlier in the hospital wing that he would make Harry regret it if he told his friends their secret. Don't worry...this Snape's style is more of the scrubbing cauldrons variety. Now, some of that, I may be able to promise you. :oP After all, this is Harry we're talking about! Thanks for the compliments and I'm so glad you're enjoying it. And, I'm happy too that you looked at Cathy's picture. It really is beautiful. I have it on my desktop background on my laptop and I just can't help myself staring at it. LOL :o)
I'm glad they finally gave Harry some answers. I have to admit that I like Harry's git-er-done attitude. I'm sure he doesn't WANT to face Voldemort, but he's of the mind that if he has to he might as well get on with it. Can't blame him for that. Anyway, thanks so much for another great chapter. Take care... Author's Response: Finally. Yeah, maybe that should have been the name of the chapter. It's about time, Harry! LOL Hmmm...I guess we'll have to see which type Snape is, if he can even get the words out. LOL But, yeah, Harry at least seems more the dad type. I'm glad you liked Harry's attitude about Voldemort. It just seems like he'd want it over with so he can get on with his life, but hmmm...it seems there must be something he's not considering yet, as all those adults were giving him rather strange looks...(okay, I'll stop being annoying). Thanks for the review. Glad you're still enjoying!
I'm not really sure why all the adults in his life think it's a good idea to keep Harry out of the loop of information. Hindsight has proven time and again that if the boy was better informed about the things that concern him life would be a lot easier. But, I guess then we wouldn't have such fun stories to read. Thanks for the update. Now I'm off to read the next chapter. Author's Response: Yeah, keeping Harry out of the loop is never a good idea. Guess we'll see if anyone can figure that out! :oP Glad you enjoyed the chapter.
Lio Author's Response: Did he? LOL I guess we'll see next chapter. :oP Thanks so much for reading and reviewing. I'm so happy (yay!) that you are still enjoying. And, yep, lots of courage for that one but you know Harry's got plenty more where that came from! :o)
But, but you stopped *there*! I've been waiting so long to for Harry to call him Dad and now I have to wait for the reaction! *grins* Brilliant cliffhanger. Brutal, but brilliant. Author's Response: Well, thank you! Brutal, but brillian, indeed. LOL I had to stop there, didn't I? Couldn't give you too many warm fuzzies (or maybe angst) in one chapter now could I? What fun would that be? Hopefully, you'll like the reaction just as much. Thanks for review. Glad you liked my cliffie! :o)
Remus was fantastic in helping Harry see that Snape had feelings, too. I loved how Harry was SOOO Harry when he raced to the floo to go to Remus to see him before he left. That was just right. As always, an excellent chapter. Author's Response: Thanks! I'm glad you liked the dad part. Sev's resonse is up next. LOL 'expire' while you wait. Well, you won't have to wait too long. The next chapter will be up in a few days hopefully. I always say that and then wonder if maybe this will be the chapter that takes forever. LOL I'll do my best though. I love Remus, don't you? He's just great. And, yeah, I like to keep Harry, pretty Harry-ish. I love that crazy Gryffindor!
What an interesting day for them. They're all so conflicted, like Remus tending to defer to Severus now before he answers him, and then hesitating to act like a guardian of some sort. Oh the angst! I love it. I could just picture Harry grinning like a loon after Severus's little rant to him, even though he was sitting down to have a serious conversation about the war. Sounds about right. I find myself trying to piece together the cause and effect of all the actions in this story and how they differ from canon. Particularly in this chapter, I was thinking about how Severus's marriage to Lilly would have affected his role as Death Eater and in turn his relationship with Malfoy. And then how Lucius knows his status as a spy and Narcissa does not come to him for help with protecting Draco. Is this because in canon, Lucius does not suspect Severus but Narcissa does and therefore goes to him for help, whereas in your universe, Lucius is in the know? It's interesting, I love all this 'a butterfly flaps its wings...' stuff. Are you including Horcruxes in this story? Dumbledore doesn't have his withered hand in this one does he? Unless I'm recalling wrong. Anyway, that shall change things a little, hopefully he doesn't have to be killed at all! I am a Stephenie Meyer's fan, though very recent. I finished Eclipse last week and it's such a fantastic story. I like how she lists her musical influences, it's quite interesting. I can't believe that you listened to that song the whole time, I like the song but I think I would have grown sick of it. Unless you're superfast at writing chapters or something. Speaking of, love the fast updates! I hope you continue to stay inspired for this story because it's so much fun to read! By the way, are we going to get anymore flashbacks? They're quite fun sometimes! Perhaps Severus will recall happier times when Harry called him 'Daddy' freely. I love those old sweet scenes. Anyway, take care! Author's Response: LOL Why can my reader alway read my mind? There is a flashback coming up next chapter. Either I'm really good or really bad that my readers always guess what's coming. :o I too love that it's 'out there' now. It was such a slow trip to get there but finally! Yay. I too can't wait to see what Severus will have to say. LOL Angst! I love angst. And, yeah, they're all pretty much twisted up in tenuous knots, aren't they? Remus doesn't quite know what to do with himself, though he is trying. But, we knew he would. He's too great not to! LOL about Harry grinning while he's about to have a talk about Voldemort. It just seems so Harry. I love cause and effect and really, I was trying to combine things in a way I would hav preferred them in books six and seven (well, and include Harry and Snape as father and son...lol) so that's where really all of this came from. His relationship is very important to this story, and yes very different than it would have been in canon. But, don't forget that I didn't mention how long Malfoy has known about this business and trust me, that is vital to this plot. (LOL, I know I'm annoying, eh? Can't resist though) And, yeah Narcissa sending Lucius to talk to Severus is different but all will be explained yesterday. I too really love how things will shift and change just from one simple change. I love AU fics for this reason, but especially the ones that at least follow some of canon but twist it around. And, nope, there is no withered hand here! No more hints, though! LOL I didn't really love Eclipse because...well, I hate Jacob! But, I won't get into that here. LOL I know that could get heated. ;o) Oh, and yeah, I did listen to the same song the whole time, but my machine wouldn't work with repeat for awhile and so everytime it would switch to the next song, I got so distracted I coudn't even write! LOL I'm crazy, it's true. Thanks for the review!
I just had a funny (delightful) feeling that the chapter would finish up on the note that it did, especially after Remus' comments to Harry. Applause to Harry for being a courageous Gryffindor! What I can't WAIT to find out is Severus reaction to Harry calling him "Dad." I suspect he might just give himself a case of whiplash. Poor exasperated Remus having to deal (yet in his usual understanding manner) with a panicky Harry. And having Snape explode in his apartment AT Harry while he nonchalently makes tea...what a guy. A big ol' hug for you, Remus. And I could just totally hear Alan Rickman's voice in my head in his rant at Harry. And this part: "You are my son. Nothing is going to change that…no matter how many times you give me the urge to throttle you.” How do two sentences move me to tears and make me laugh out loud all at the same time? (How do you DO that?) But Harry has never had a parental figure that cares, so it doesn't surprise me that it will take quite a bit of time (and Severus never faulting ONCE in his concern, not that I expect he would at this point but I truly think Harry needs time to believe) for it to sink in for the poor kid. THANK YOU for clueing Harry in on at least SOME vital information. And Draco's plight...wow. You might make me actually care about him in this fic when I rarely do in others. If anybody can, it will be you. ;-) Author's Response: First of all...sorry about your cruddy weekend and no heat! And worse, no internet! Oh, I would die!! LOL (and darn your cold fingers...am I gonna get my Remus eventually, though?) Second of all, as per usual, I just want to give you a big chapter 20 Harry/Severus hug! You always make me grin and feel like I might have some idea what I'm doing in this big old world of fanfiction, after all. LOL Yes,a case of whiplash might be in order, although you never know with that tricky so and so. :o) I loved Remus so much in this chapter. Just the right amount of caring concern and stern lecturing. I really love that werewolf. (hint...hint...picture..hint LOL) And, making tea...well, the guy did use 'his father' when talking to Harry, so he has to show some sort of acceptance of it, doesn't he? And, I just SEE Remus as basically nonchalant so that was no surprise. I love that you could hear Alan Rickman shouting at Harry. Now, that rant was really fun to write. LOL And picturing Harry cringing but not really in the usual fear of Snape was fun in my head. Again, darnit, wish I could draw but it's good that I can't because I would never write anymore. More {{hugs}} for you, lady! I don't know how I make you both laugh and cry, but man I'm glad I can. :oP And, yeah, Harry needs to let it all sink in, and a lot of that will depend how Sev reacts now that Harry has put himself out there. And, you're welcome for letting Harry in, but you really should thank Sev. LOL Oh, yes...please do care about poor Draco. That kid is beside himself! Mabye Harry can actually start caring too. LOL Thanks for another awesome review! Glad you're day's going better. :o)
It's good that the adults are letting Harry know some of what's going on, too. That was a big part of why Harry went to the Dept. of Mysteries, which of course led to Sirius' death. Not that I'm placing any blame on Harry for it, or even Dumbledore. They may have made mistakes, but they did the best they could. I say Bellatrix and Voldemort are squarely to blame. Anyway, I'm looking forward to the next chapter! Author's Response: Harry does need that reassurance. I don't know if you read my reply to a review a few reviews back but the part I wrote last chapter about Severus thinking how Harry was acting the way Lupin and Albus had said he would...well, I explained that and I think it explains too why Sev said it. Anyways, in case you were interested. :oP LOL Yes, Bellatrix and Voldemort are pretty much to blame for that. But, it definitely would have helped if Harry hadn't been in the dark so much. Thanks for reviewing. Glad you're still enjoying! |
