Reviews For Lily's Charm
Author's Response: Thanks so much! I basically just have no life from 7pm and onwards as my kids are in bed and my husband is in medical school, at the hospital all hours of the night! LOL Writing is my only hobby right now...or should I say, obsession. :o) Glad you liked the Severus/Harry battle in potions. That was fun and yeah, Harry's annoyance with what Snape could be up to was especially fun. Glad you like the way Severus is written here. I love Sev. He's just too fun. Thanks for the review!
Severus and Remus playing tug-of-war over Harry - poor Harry! They each being jealous of each other's relationship with Harry isn't going to be easy on that poor kid. But deliciously fun to read all the same. The mystery continues over Lily's charm. Hmmm.... I just KNEW that asking Harry to antagonize Severus was a horribly bad idea; their emotions with each other or just too raw at this point. Remus, of course, had the sensible solution in Harry feigning illness but heaven forbid Severus agree to one of the werewolf's ideas. And where did Harry go, anyway? Evil, evil cliffie! I can officially start some fanart with my new Christmas present (which wasn't working with my computer until today). Santa brought me a really cool Wacom graphics tablet, and I'm just itching to start some art on it. There's just the cutest picture of Severus and baby Harry in my head that I just think needs to come out if I can pull it off. Welcome back from your holiday vacation! Author's Response: Okay, well now you have me officially anxious over here! I can't wait to see some fanart. I'm so excited! And Severus and baby Harry...yippeeee! I know what you mean...I've only been able to write little bits at a time and it was driving me insane too. Unlike now, where I've already gotten almost 3 pages done of Chapter 20. This promises to be another 'meaty' one! Tug of war! LOL Well, Remus will *try* to keep his feelings in check now that he went and upset Harry over his jealousy, unlike Severus whose own fierce possessiveness won't be letting up anytime soon. Emphasis on the *try* though because I doubt very much that old Remus was oblivious to the scene in the Great Hall. Hee hee. Lily's Charm does continue to mystify all of us. But, now we do know a rather important (maybe) detail about it. If Harry could find the courage to just ask Severus about it! All in good time. :o) Of course atagonizing Severus was a terrible idea and Harry really had no plans to go along with it. Ron's blowing up a cauldron idea would have been much safer! I'm sorry but I couldn't help myself. Cliffhangers are just FUN! But, we do have both Ginny and Severus storming out of the Great Hall, so at least you know something interesting is going to be happening. Next chapter up in the next few days as we're going back to the old schedule! YAY!
Remus seemed antsy when he was taking Harry to his rooms for the lesson. Was this just because he knew that Severus was going to tell him about not being allowed to go to Hogsmeade or something else? I'm looking very much forward to those two spending some time together instead of the Hogsmeade thing, and especially with no other task hanging over them like Occlumency. It was so nice of Severus to ask! Nice way to divert an argument too, otherwise Harry could have gone on for awhile, I'm sure. I saw that you have a new chapter for "What If..." also so I'm off to read that! Cheers! Author's Response: Glad you liked it! Slow progress for sure, but progress nonetheless. Yeah, Harry's friends are coming in really handy here, aren't they? Remus is up again in the next chapter so you'll have to wait to see what his problem is. Don't worry though...his angst will be sorted out (kind of at least) and we'll be back to a more happy Remus. Ginny is up as well and Harry and Severus spending a carefree day together. Well, all right...it won't be completely carefree because what fun would that be? LOL I really like that you saw that Sev was using the invitation partially as a way to distract Harry. He does tend to go on and on about things, doesn't he. :o) Thanks for reviewing. Glad you're enjoying still!
Lio
Lio Author's Response: I'm glad you like my Snape characterization. He's just really fun to write. And, I love him as a snarky arse too. Even his concern is prickly. LOL. Thanks for reviewing. Hope you keep enjoying! :o)
They really have made a lot of progress, which is evident at how well Harry accepts the idea of spending the day with Severus (which at one time would have seemed like the worst possible punishment) instead of going to Hogsmeade. Looking forward to more! Author's Response: I can't resist Protective Sev. I just see him that way with anyone he is close to in his life. Harry is just following along where Sev leads and now that he has a pretty big inkling that Severus wants to give this father/son thing a try, he is more than willing! Thanks for reviewing again! :o)
Ok, so some more things to add... Out of curiosity, what does “Paro lemma solvo” mean? Snape says this after Harry creates the image of his dementor cloud and succesfully buries his memories within its murky confines. It is this spell that then causes Snape's flames to ignite Harry's image, correct? I was just wondering...now back to the story! I love how you can see Severus' parentalness coming through here in this chapter, even. I love that he's becoming concerned with Harry's safty on a more personal level, although that's perhaps more Chapter 18 than here...and at least Severus is able to keep a level-head about Harry's abilities. It would be too out of character for him to tell Harry all about Draco and his plans, despite his lacking knowledge and skill in the field of Occlumency just because Harry is his son. Great job of characterization throughout the chapter, it was perfect! I especially love how you portray Dumbledore...no words can describe how great it is...not entirely cannon, but believable, nice and grandfather-ish, and yet still extremely manipulative...ok, so there are words.. I do wonder what this "edge" that Severus speaks of is that Harry has against Voldermort...*sigh* I'm getting all the fics that I've read mixed up now. I'm going to have to re-read yours. *excited squeal* I'll go do that now...good luck with Chapter 19! And Happy Weekend! Author's Response: LOL. You're hilarious, reviewing this! "Paro lemma solvo", was a spell to dissolve Harry's shield. Snape was guiding him through raising and lowering his shield, but Snape was basically doing all the real work and Harry was just along for the ride. This chapter was mostly about Severus keeping his earlier promise to himself to try for Lily's sake and not to let Harry or himself leave in a huff again. And, yes he is very concerned about Harry being able to defend himself against the Dark Lord, and not only to save the wizardiing world or because he makes a promise to protect Lily's son...but becuase Snape is beginning to have genuine feelings for Harry. A huge step for him. Thanks for the compliment on characterizations! I really see Dumbledore as much more manipulative than he is in the books. I just like him better that way. As if he really does care about Harry but he also has a pretty powerful agenda as well. Oooh, you noticed the 'edge' comment. Beautiful. :o) I love it when people notice little random, though important tidbits. You'll have to keep wondering though, as we're not quite ready to reveal all just yet. LOL Thanks and the next chapter is in process but as I'm still with my family on vacation, it is still taking longer than usual. Plus, I got a surge of inspiration for my What if? story so I've been writing chapter 3 on that as well. Sigh. LOL.
LOVED IT!! Ahh, poor Harry, being so overworked. But, what can you expect as he is the bloody boy-who-lived. *sigh* At least he's getting along better with Snape and they've come to somekind of understanding in relation to their relationship. I was excited to see Ol' Sev at Quidditch tryouts and loved Harry's reaction to knowing he was there too. Severus is right, he needs to work on hiding his emotions a little. But, the Occlumency lessons do seem to be going well. I'm glad that I gave you "dementor storm" as inspiration, it makes me think that maybe, just maybe if I actually do put some time into it, that I can write my own fics...hmmm. (Although, all the credit goes to you, I merely was lazy and didn't feel like writing out how you described it as and merely cut and pasted those two words together. But, thanks anyway! And of course, I don't mind at all! Harry can have anything he wants, except maybe my laptop!) Back to your story, which was great by the way, I don't know if I mentioned that! I wonder why Remus was so, umm, I don't know, irratable? If that's the word. Was he just angry at Snape for not letting Harry go to Hogsmead? I for one belive you to be scheming below the surface...so what is it?! I was a tad sad that all we saw was a moody-depressed Lupin, too. More Lupin (if it works in the next chapter, that is!)!! And that Draco...so he has a mission to do for the Dark Lord concerning Dumbledore? Hmmm...I wonder if you're going Cannon on us? Hopefully not, because I think you've got some better ideas! I really enjoyed the dynamic between Draco and Harry in potions too, it was so in character. That moody Draco! And that last Occlumency scene. I'm glad that Harry and Severus are getting along together and are somewhat comfortable with the parent/son status that they've aquired. It was great to see Severus look "distictly uncomfortable." But, at least he presented Harry with an alternative solution (that I look forward to seeing) that will hopefully bring them even closer together. Once again, great fic and now I'm off to Chapter 17!! Have a great weekend! Until next chapter! Author's Response: Yeah, it was a bummer that the sight was down and YAY that it's back up again! Harry is pretty overworked, isn't he? Sigh but at least he's got lots of people surrounding him for support this year. :O) It was really fun to write Snape at Quidditch, watching Harry and Harry being so "dazed" about it. LOL I just love dazed/dumbfounded Harry. And, thanks again for the dementor storm. I loved it so much. It was perfect. And, yes, you should write a fanfic. That would be awesome! Oh, Remus.... Poor Remus is having a rough time right now but don't worry, he's back in the next chapter with Harry. Nope, he's not angry at Sev, per se, but it does have to do with Severus. ;o) Glad you liked the dynamic in Potions. I really love mean Draco; he's such a nice contrast to Harry. That was a good scene to write at the end. It was the first time Severus is really parental with Harry and it was a beautiful moment for both of them. Sev's reaction to the whole thing is up next...and more Lupin and Ginny as well! Hop you enjoy!
Author's Response: You're right. That is what Harry wanted...some sort of ackowledgement that Snape is beginning to accept the role of his father. Snape's reaction to the whole thing is up next chapter as Harry's response is exactly what he was hoping for too. Just imagine how much easier all of this would be if they would share what they're thinking! Of course, the story would be much shorter. LOL Thanks for reviewing again. :o)
On a personal note, I read your bio with interest. It's always a pleasure to see another mom in HP-fanfictionland. Although, I suspect there are more than a few of us around. I mean really, can you imagine a group more deserving of a break from reality than mothers of small children? lol...I can't... Thanks again for the story and have a great Christmas. :-) Author's Response: Thanks so much. It's nice to hear that'll I'm keeping them real! LOL And, of course it's great to "see" another mom around here. Though, you're right...there are quite a few of us around. I've gotten to know some awesome moms through reviews and emails all of fandom. It's been cool. I agree to that this break from my mom life is much needed. :o) Thanks for the review and I hope you keep enjoying the story. Happy Holidays to you as well! |
