    The moment was always brief, and he had hoped that his son had never noticed. But this new Harry had seen it straight away, and he realized he'd been fooling himself. Of course his son could see when his own mother gazed on him like he was a stranger. How could he not? He ached at the thought that his little one had lived with this pain his whole life and never told him.



    that part was heartbreaking. i hope for more like it... not that i like getting my heart broken... but i love angst.

    Angst is good!  I watched a show where someone said that sad is happy for deep people.  ;)

    Yay! I love it! But Petunia! Shes the witch in the family! that's for the background of that, and how Lily and Harry came to like with Snape in the first place in this dimension. I was curious and wondering about that. :) I enjoyed Dumbledore and Snape's interaction in this chapter. Good job!

    Thank you!  I've had that "first Christmas" scene in my head for a while, and finally found a place to put it.

    Oh no...Ron... I loved how you ended it: "The conversation went downhill from there." lol. So clever. I just love the Harry that's stuck in this world. He's adorable. I could just picture him trailing after Severus and getting shrugged off by him...

    I can't wait for the next couple of chapters, and of course, Ron's reaction! I'm really anxious to see how Harry reacts to Snape shoving him against the wall (last chaper).

    I think Severus is distinctly uncomfortable being the focus of Harry's intense ability to love. 

     

    Next chapter is AU Snape's POV, but we'll get back to Harry soon.

    Oh Boy. Ron's not going to take this conversation well at all! I love this story. It's so unique and fun. I can't wait to see what's next!

    I'm glad you find it unique!  I was a bit nervous when I realized my "unique" idea of Snape adopting Harry had already been done in so many different ways.  But I also realized later that the story has elements of Hamlet in it, so I suppose most story premises are already out there in one form or another.  I can still be unique in the style and details.

    ron just so lost en't he!! i feel kinda bad for him, but the i just have to laugh! he really does have the emotional range of a teaspoon, excited happy sad or angry, and thats it!

    Whooo! Fantastic chapter. I really like his Harry, and how its demonstrated how well he knows Severus- knowing that the key to spending time with him is lily, for example. Ron, I'm disappointed in. But I suppose that he will eventually turn around. I'm wondering if this Harry has a crush on Hermione? I also wonder what Snape is talking to Dumbledore about - is he confessing some past sin? Thank you for the update!

    I was surprised how much chemistry Harry & Hermione had when I wrote them.  I think he just appreciates her amazing memory, considering his family history.  He's got a lot on his plate and is just a smidge too young to get romantic.  

     

    Snape was going to tell Dumbledore what he'd just learned from Harry about Lily.  In chapter 4, Dumbledore told Snape he wasn't sure how much passion this Harry had for fighting Voldemort, as Harry wasn't willing to discuss any tragedy he'd suffered in his life with the headmaster.  I'll tweak the phrasing a bit in editing so it's clearer.  Thanks!
