Reviews For Slave Child
Author's Response: Thank you! They just might end up back at Hogwarts, at some point, don't give up. Thanks again.
Aw, I kind of felt sorry for Draco though. I hope that Harry realises that Draco feels left out. Great chapter Kristeh. I can't wait for the next one, and I really hope that Harry and Severus decides to go back to Hogwarts again. Or at least the Yule Ball. Author's Response: Thanks, Pandora! I'm glad you liked the conversation with Severus and Ron; you know I struggled with it. And yeah, Severus is the perfect person to judge the situation, and since he's been getting on better with Harry's friends, I thought Ron might get up the courage to speak with him. Yeah, I think Harry will realize what's going on with Draco soon. The question is will he be able to bring Ron, Hermione, and Draco together, especially as none of them are terribly willing. I'm looking forward to another chapter from you as well!
Author's Response: Thanks, Kim! I'm glad you feel the same way about Ron! I really love him and hate to see him bashed. He's not perfect and there were times I wanted to shake him in canon, but you're right that he tries to fix his mistakes and make up for them. He does have a good heart. >>>I normally dislike Draco quite a bit but you made me wish I could be there to make him feel better. Lol, I'm going to convert you yet! Draco certainly isn't perfect either, far from it, but if you look at the childhood he's had and who his parents are, it would be a miracle if he didn't have some problems. But Draco has the potential to change, especially once he's in a healthier environment. I think anyway. Thanks again.
Author's Response: Aw, thanks, Kim! And yeah, Harry was feeling a bit stuck here. Glad you liked it.
I will continue reading but to be honest, if I were cranky from RL stress, which happens often, I probably would have stopped here. The whole latter part of the chapter - the discussion about Draco's fate - pushed me way beyond the believability edge. There is simply no believable way to make either Albus, Severus or Harry behave the way they did in this chapter. I've turned the whole thing a dozen times over in my head and it just doesn't work. For Albus and Severus to believe Azkaban the only solution, for Harry to be the one to say things like - A. won't help him, on the contrary - when we have men, adult, mature men there at that moment to him being the only one advocating a different solution (especially in that constellation of events i.e. slavery spell, the paper revelation etc) to the coup de grace of Draco as 'slave' - you simply pushed too far and the believability factor went out the window. Just a tad milder, a tad more toned down and it wouldn't have been so grating, so jarring. Anyway, I do intend to read on, it's a good story and I understand this chapter was probably difficult to write as we are dealing with extreme situations and authors are then forced to swim outside of their familiar waters, so to say. Author's Response: Well, obviously, I disagree or I wouldn't have written it. It seems to me that there are plenty of times in canon when the adults were not particularly wise or mature or handled situations in the best way. Whether you continue reading or not is up to you, of course.
Author's Response: Thank you! Yeah, I think Harry is a very compassionate and generous person, and if canon Draco had felt remorse over his actions and had wanted things to change between them, I think Harry would have given him that chance so I wanted to have that happen here. Well, Ron spoke without thinking and hurt Harry with his words, which was wrong of him, but he wasn't intentionally being a prat. It's hard for him, and Hermione, to believe that Draco is changing without seeing it firsthand. Ron can't help but be suspicious and he's actually worried about Harry being hurt again. But he definitely didn't handle the situation in a good way. Yeah, Severus does feel nostalgic about Hogwarts, but he won't do anything unless Harry decides he's ready to return.
Looking forward to your next update! V. Author's Response: Thank you! Yeah, I think Ron has more potential than to just be an idiotic prat, so I wanted to show that he's trying to be a good friend, to make up for his mistake, and to see that someone is watching out for Harry.
Author's Response: Hi, Kim, Thanks so much! Yeah, I don't like Harry having troubles with Ron and Hermione either, but I do think that it would be hard for them to understand that Draco's changing, not until they've seen it firsthand. And with all that Draco has done, Ron and Hermione definitely have reason to feel suspicious and to be protective of Harry. The argument (if you could call it that) doesn't stem from them being angry, but from their great love and concern. And Harry knows it too, so I think the problem won't last terribly long. Yeah, Ron has grabbed the bull by the horns, so to speak. But he recognizes that Severus loves Harry and that Severus is in a better position to know what's going on and to keep an eye on things. Glad you liked the little dueling scene. It was fun to write.
Author's Response: Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it. >>>I wonder if we are going back to Hogwarts soon? You seem to miss it as well as Severus! Lol, I guess I do, though I love Prince Hall too. But Severus and Harry do seem to belong at Hogwarts. However, there are still things that I want to have happen away from the school, too, so I'm going over my notes and trying to figure out the timing of it all. Thanks again!
Author's Response: Thank you! I'm happy you enjoyed it. Yeah, Severus is definitely feeling nostalgic. We'll have to see about Harry. |
