1)there was a portrait that overheard and spread the word. 2)someone (malfoy) was just outside the door and heard (or inside and dissilusioned) and spread the word. 3)Skeeter in all of her bug-like glory was in the hospital wing and heard and wrote it up.

Am I even in the ball park with any of my wild guesses?

Great chapter. I love the worried Sev at the beginning of the chapter.

    >>>Am I even in the ball park with any of my wild guesses?

Now, do you really want to know?  I can say that it will be explained in the next chapter, okay?  And of course, Sev was very worried about Harry...his son is everything to him now.  Thank you so much!

Oh, no...That last line from Colin actually made my mouth drop. I feel so bad for Harry and the next chapter hasn't been put up yet! Oh, I'm almost afraid that someone really did publish his secret on the Daily Prophecy...I'm hoping it's a nightmare!!! But your chapters are always so enjoyable to read. :)

    Author's Response:

    Thank you!

    >>>That last line from Colin actually made my mouth drop.

But you knew everyone had to find out eventually, didn't you?  I mean, how could I let such an opportunity for angst go by?

    >>>I'm hopikng it's a nightmare!!!

    Harry is too!

    Thanks again!

Oh. My. Goodness. Hyperventilating. I knew this chapter was going to be fantastic, because you wrote it didn't you?, but I didn't know it would be this amazing! I can't wait for Harry's reaction. I cannot wait for what will happen. The Slytherin's teasing, maybe some people supporting Harry and him realizing he is valued. How long will I have to live with shortness of breath before the next chapter comes around? Take your time, seeing as time produces *this*! I loved this. Loved. this. Love. I loved how Harry explained his quidditch attachment (though I was confused, wasn't there no quidditch in fourth year b/c of the tournament?). I think a very in-personality part of that was when he said "i don't mean to be whining on it all the time" - it was very Harry. I cannot wait for the next chapter! when? when? *gasps for breath*

Author's Response: Oh, thank you!  You're being way too kind and making me blush!  But I am really happy that you enjoyed it.  I don't know if people will approve and/or agree with Harry's reaction, but it is a part of the story that I have had planned for a long time and there are reasons for it, or should I say there will be reasons for it.  I will try to write the next chapter this week and maybe have it up sometime next weekend.

Okay, so I'm still at the far beginning of the story, but I thought I'd let you know I love it quite a lot. Harry's fear and pain make me physically hurt, which is actually a good thing since it means your writing is evocative. =) And watching a cautious Snape is extremely interesting. On to the next chapter, then! Thanks for writing!

    OMG!!! OMG!!!!

That was a wonderful, amazing, absolutely brilliant (and long too!) chapter!!!

I loved when Severus called Harry son, and Harry called Severus Dad. I thought my heart would melt.

I loved that Severus softened the punishment. It was a little harsh not giving Harry a time frame that he was grounded, and I loved that he reinstated Harry's most prized possessions and apologized to Harry for saying that he didn't trust him.

Well, I just knew that Harry blurting out that he's a slave, was a bad idea. I bet someone was lurking behind the curtains or something and just couldn't wait to go running to Rita Skeeter.

Poor Harry. They have really got to find a cure for this slavery spell now. Harry will not be able to live a normal life. Maybe if they work really hard, and research it....

Well, that chappie gave me the warm fuzzies. Of course that was until the end, and Miss Kristeh pulls a CLIFFIE on us!!!!!

Well, young lady, you are sentenced to write another chappie as quickly as your delicate little fingers will type!!

Oh, and don't forget APOP. I'm greedy. And besides, you left us with a cliffie for that one too!!!

You are just too too cruel. But I'll forgive you if you give me a chappie soon.

Pretty please with sugar on top? :)

    Author's Response:

Oh, thank you, Pandora!  I'm glad you liked that Severus relented a bit...I wasn't sure what you would think since you said for the earlier chapter that you didn't think he should.  I think Harry did deserve some punishment, but that Severus was a little harsh, too.

    >>>Well, I just knew that Harry blurting out that he's a slave, was a bad idea.

Yeah, Harry really should have known better, but everyone does stupid things sometimes, especially when they're upset.  Unfortunately, Harry usually has dire consequences to deal with, much more so than your ordinary person.  Finding a cure would be a very helpful thing, wouldn't it?  I'm being evil but I actually have to chuckle about comments like that...

I will work on SC again later in the week, how about that?  I think I need a few days to recuperate!  Thanks again!

    Hi,
Been following your story for a while now and I just love it. Read only few stories that take this premise and handle it so well. The tension is incredible. It’s wonderful how you give them both such an incredibly human voice. The last few chapters especially were a bit of a roller coaster. (which is a good thing for us readers :-)
Harry going flying I find completely in character, wouldn't have expected otherwise! His complete turnaround when punished, I out of character for him I guess. He does not agree with Severus on the topic of flying, but then he is so contrite and in this last chapter so completely begs for his forgiveness? Hmm.. not completely convinced, maybe.
Severus' reaction when finding out seems way over the top as well (abusive). Taking away, well.., everything Harry "possesses", when Harry has so many issues about that. But maybe that is actually IN character for Severus? Par for the course? Severus is still learning maybe, but with an enormous fallout for Harry. (Harry gets punished for misbehaving, Severus acted abominably with far greater consequences, and does not. Oh well! That’s what guilt is for, we adults are so hypocritical.. ;-)
The last chapter is sweet however, with Severus finally telling Harry how he feels, and singing 0_o. Just dying to read their next Big Conversation, and looking forward to the next chapter very much! Please keep writing?
    Regards,

    Author's Response:

Hey, sorry it took me so long to respond.  I was out of town for a few days and then got very busy writing on "Pair of Phoenixes".  Thank you very much for your thoughtful comments.  I guess people see the characters in different ways and what is OOC for one person is not for someone else.  I do tend to see Harry as more humble than some other people.  Yes, in canon Harry did have a bit of a temper and he could be snarky and headstrong.  But I think he was generally very respectful to adults (more on that in a minute) and very contrite and remorseful when he did make a mistake.

In canon, there are some instances when Harry talked back, but that was mainly with the Dursleys and with Snape.  To be honest, I cannot blame him, even though I normally am a big stickler for kids respecting adults.  But both the Dursleys and canon Snape were so abusive to Harry and for so long, that I don't blame Harry for sticking up for himself after a time.  No one has to be a doormat to abusers.

And yes, I do completely agree that it is a bit hypocritical for Severus to be so harsh when he has done much worse things than Harry, and has treated Harry so badly in the past.  That's why I generally avoid stories where Harry is portrayed as a smart-alecky kid who needs to be put in his place while Snape is portrayed as a near-perfect adult.  And yeah, I probably idealize him as a father-figure too, but I do believe that it is a crucial step in Severus' development for him to realize how badly he has mistreated Harry and to feel some real remorse over it.

In regards to this particular incident, I think there is some blame on both sides.  Harry is not completely innocent, but I think Severus was too harsh.  To be fair, Severus did not intend to be overly harsh...his actions stemmed from his great fear and yes, he was also very angry, and in the heat of the moment, he over-reacted.  Parents are not perfect either.  But in the next chapter, they are going to talk more about Harry's reasons for being so desperate to play and reach more of a compromise.  Harry will not get off scot-free, but Severus will relent in some areas, too.

Again, thank you very much and I'm sorry for taking so long to get back with you.  I hope you'll see this!

I think my teeth have rotted away from all that fluff :/
Snape was WAY to loving in this chapter.
This is extremely OOC... bordering on the unrecognisable.
    *goes and brushes teeth*
Still, its well written gramatically speaking, which is more than alot of other people can claim.

    Author's Response:

I disagree.  I believe that Severus could be very loving and tender if he ever decided to allow himself to care for anyone else.  I believe that canon showed he was capable of great love and devotion.

However, to each his own.  You certainly do not have to read my stories if they do not appeal to you.

You did a great job of communicating the pain, guilt and helplessness a parent feels when his/her child is sick.

    Thank you.

Author's Response: Thank you!  Yes, as a parent I know it is a terrible feeling when your child is ill or hurt and there's not much you can do.  Thanks for reviewing.
