*sighs* Oh Harry. Poor Severus, he is already beating himself up about that accident, and then Harry throws it right in his face. I hope that Severus and Harry can get through this and that Harry can see that Severus is only thinking of what would be best for his son. Great job!! Leilia PS Good luck on your challenge fic. And yes, Harry will come to see that Severus is thinking of what's best for him, but just not for a while still. He is rather upset and unhappy right at the moment!
Author's Response: Thank you! I'm sorry...but I will try to hurry as quickly as I can and still have the Fest story turn out as I'm envisioning. I feel badly for both of them. Severus is truly concerned for Harry's health...understandably...but it is a hard blow for Harry, too, for a variety of reasons. And it's likely to get worse before it gets better!
Oh, I really love how you write the relationship between the two of them. Poor Harry, not being able to play Quidditch, but I guess Severus is right. Harry could end up with pneumonia. I bet Severus really feels bad now, and Harry feels guilty. I'm really looking forward to your next update, and of course your challenge story!! Author's Response: Thank you, Pandora! Oh, that's okay...there was some problem with it not showing up on the most recent list, which is usually how I check for updates, and besides, I think I've missed your updates before too. I'm happy you enjoyed the chapter! It is very hard for both Harry and Severus. Sev really does have Harry's best interests in mind, but is he right or is he being ridiculously overprotective? How will Harry respond to the first time his father is forbidding him to do something he really wants to do? I do think that Harry has a lot of difficulty with this situation, and it's not just him being stubborn and bratty. For one thing, what with being raised by the Dursleys, Harry doesn't have a lot of experience with a loving parent setting limits. Also, he's still very hurt and bothered by the slavery spell, even though he doesn't dwell on it and tries to keep it in the back of his mind. But there is a part of him that sees it as his 'master' forbidding something and that is making him even more hurt and upset, though perhaps neither of them really understand that yet. Not that Harry is right for saying such hurtful things, but that is what is going on in his subconscious. Thanks again!
I also want to congratulate you on your story in general. At first I doubted there could be a father-son relationship. I thought the knowledge of the power that Snape holds over Harry would prevent it, because he is unable to go against Snape like children normally can against their parents. But you pulled it off. And you made it believable,too. Harry loves Snape, but is still in equal measure very much hurt by the spell. You developed it with care and consideration. Thank you for sharing and keep up the good work. Author's Response: Thank you! You know, you're one of the few people who has defended Harry, and I'm glad to see your POV, too. I wanted to introduce a conflict, but make it so that both Severus' and Harry's positions were understandable and sympathetic. I'm not sure how well I succeeded, but that was the goal, lol. To be honest, Severus doesn't mean to invoke the spell or take advantage of it in any way. And he doesn't even have any ulterior motive in helping Slytherin out, either. He truly is very concerned with Harry's health, perhaps with reason. Harry is better but he is still recovering and being out in cold, wet weather may not be a good thing for him. But of course, it is quite a blow to Harry too, especially because, as you said, he still has a lot of hurt and anger over the slavery spell under the surface, he was banned unfairly from Quidditch the previous year with Umbridge in charge and he'd really been looking forward to playing again, and because he is concerned with how it will appear to the other Gryffs, too. So it's just not a good situation. And I'm so happy that you feel the father/son relationship works...that means a lot to me!
Author's Response: Thank you! Well, yeah, Harry shouldn't have said those things, but he is very upset and he's certainly not the first teenager to say things he doesn't mean when he's angry and disappointed.
What I mean is, lovely chapter. Hate the cliffy. Author's Response: Thank you! I'll try to hurry with the Fest story, but I'll just have to see how it goes. I'm going to get started on it tomorrow, or maybe tonight.
Author's Response: Thank you! Well, the spell will not punish Harry for rebelling against Severus. The spell punishes a slave for attempting to harm the master, trying to escape, and owning possessions. But if Harry rebelled or disobeyed, the spell says that Severus could punish him any way that he wanted, though of course Severus wouldn't do anything truly dreadful. Severus would just punish Harry as a parent and child, and he doesn't even want to do that. Severus is pretty indulgent, which may be OOC, but I think now that he loves Harry and knows that he has mistreated him in the past that Severus would bend over backwards to not have to punish Harry again. Thanks again!
Author's Response: Thank you! I will try to hurry with the Fest story as much as I can...I'm eager for the next chapter here too, lol! Actually, I think we're getting a good part of the story again...well, if you like angst and mush.
