Reviews For Slave Child
as always waiting for the next chapter Author's Response: Thank you! Well, I debated about including a letter to Remus, and I didn't for a couple reasons. One...I felt like I had to draw the line somewhere. If Harry had written to Remus, then he would have needed to write to Dumbledore, maybe Poppy, and when I was writing I already wasn't sure if I were taking up too much time with the letters and had decided not to actually show the one to Hermione which really would have been more important than one to Remus and DD, imho. But also, at this point, I'm not sure how close Harry and Remus actually are. I think Harry wants to be close to Remus, but it isn't just quite there. Remus has been pretty absent from Harry's life for the past two years, after all. I think Remus has his own issues with closeness, which will be mentioned later on in the fic, and this is what has caused him to pull away a bit, but for now, Harry isn't sure at all how Remus feels about him. He thinks Remus may well blame him for Sirius' death and might not want to hear from Harry. I'll try to update again soon.

It's always hard to know where to start with someone who has failed a suicide attempt.. Even when you've been suicidal yourself. You're doing a fantastic job showing Harry's mindset as he is suicidal. I saw in your other reviews you've had major computer problems. I know the pain. My laptop corrupted my entire thesis about a week and a half ago. That was painful. (I still defended on time, though.) I can totally relate. Author's Response: Thank you! Yes, Severus is going to have to do the best he can, and all the while he'll wonder if he's doing and saying the right things. I'm sorry about your computer problems; I can definitely commiserate. Glad you were able to pull it together in time.
Author's Response: Thank you! Well, at the moment, Harry does want to die, or at least he thinks he does. Severus has to convince him that his life is worth living now.
Author's Response: Thank you! I'll try to update again soon!
Author's Response: Thank you!
Author's Response: Thank you! I enjoyed writing the letters because they are a look at Harry's truest emotions...things he would not ordinarily be able to say, but which he feels deeply, like you said. I thought Harry would have been really touched by Molly and Bill coming to the tournament that time. I was really touched by it when I was reading. It was one of those little scenes that really mean a lot. You can understand so clearly how hard it is for Harry not to have a family of his own, when the other three champions all have theirs come to cheer them on and offer support. You see again how badly the Dursleys have failed Harry. And for Molly and Bill to come and be his family...welll, if I hadn't already been in love with the Weasleys, I would have been at that point. And yes, much as Harry loves the Weasleys, he doesn't understand the depth of their feelings and he doesn't really believe that anyone is his. Severus does have his work cut out for him.
Author's Response: Thank you! LOL, he certainly will!
Author's Response: Thank you! Yes, Harry is right now and he is beginning to see that Severus cares, but he doesn't realise how strong Severus' feelings are for him. Harry really sees himself as unwanted...a legacy of living with the Dursleys, and he just finds it hard to believe that Severus could really want him around, enough that he'd be devestated over losing Harry. Right now Harry just doesn't realise how much Severus cares.
I love your story and I appreciate your disclaimers, but since your subject matter (suicide) is such a sensitive topic would you mind also posting a link somewhere to the Hope line? (http://www.hopeline.com/). It's standard media practice, and just in case any of your readers are more affected. I lost several friends to suicide in high school, and worked in advocacy and prevention after that. Thanks a lot, now hurry up and have Sevvy save him already :D Author's Response: Thank you! Yes, I will add that link with the next chapter; thanks for the suggestion! I'll try to update within a week.
It was definitely worth it to write out the letters, I think it told us a lot about Harry's state of mind. Severus has come such a long way since the beginning of the story, and I think Harry's starting to think that Sev just might care about him... :) Author's Response: Thank you! I will try to update again within a week. I need a hug, please! My betas will tell you about the computer problems I've had recently and how I almost lost this chapter right close to the end and even more importantly, some papers I need for work. I was pulling my hair out last night. I definitely need a hug. Glad you liked the letters, and Severus really has made a lot of progress, hasn't he?
