Reviews For Lily's Charm: The Gift
Loved this...and aren't you a clever little dickens to come up with THAT scenario. Brill! I would never have guessed that you had that up your sleeve. But how wonderful for Remus...well, it will be when he gets over his shock. And he can't surely think that Tonks won't have him back, as it was he who broke off with her. And I aagree with HArry...Tonk's parents need a swift kick up the Kyber Pass! One would think that Andromeda Tonks might have had enough experience of exactly what prejudice can do! Remus the man is worth a thousand of most men. They should have gotten to know the real REmus Lupin before passing judgement. I hope Tonks is giving them a seriously hard time. Poor Remus; I seriously love that guy. He is definitely my favourite MArauder. What do you think JK has against us that she killed off our two favourite adult characters? Ginny..hmm, this is a bit deep. She is worried that Harry wasn't entirely himself, I suppose. Does she think that the REAL Harry wouldn't have wanted to snog her senseless anyway. IS she worried about how far they went...just how far did they go? Heehee. I hope everything is all right on the Harry/Ginny front. And why is Sev so far away. Post traumatic Stress Disorder, if you ask me...perhaps that's what is wrong with all of them. Can't wait for Sirius to wake up. I wonder if he will even care that his old friend is no longer a were-wolf or will he be too caught up in his indignation to focus on anything else. Poor Remus seems to think that he might have lost Sirius's friendship. Oh, the possibilities... I am officially in 'waiting impatiently' mode. LesleY~ Author's Response: Remus is definitely in shock. Hasn't really realized what this will mean for him. Well, in the case of Andromeda's parents, it's really not a case of prejudice, so much as worry for their daughter. I mean, it'd be pretty hard to take if my daughter (if I had one) decided to marry a werewolf! LOL It's a hard life for Remus a wolf, and I think Tonks' parents are just concerned for their welfare. You'll have to wait and see how far Harry and Ginny went. They are up soon. Sev is pondering...things. You'll have to wait and see that as well. LOL Sirius is up soon as wel. :o)
How absolutely fantastic for Remus if the lycanthropy is gone for good! He certainly deserves to catch a break. He's had such a hard life, poor guy, and for the most part he's handled it with good grace. I do think he was wrong to break up with Tonks, but I can understand why he did so. It would be almost overwhelming for him, knowing how much discrimination there is against werewolves and that he was in danger of losing his job. Then to also know that Tonks' parents were not supportive of the relationship...well, it would be easy for Remus to believe that she's better off without him. I can't wait to see more of those two, though. Well, it sounds like they've all got some adjusting to do, poor guys, but at least we've got the good news about Remus. I'm looking forward to learning more about the Veil cured him. Well, I'm just looking forward to more of everything, lol!
Boo on Scrimgeour (sticks tongue out at nasty creep). Now, Poppy, please, follow them down to the room, tie them up and pour the sleeping potion down their throats. Severus will probably make sure Harry sleeps but will think that he is just fine and doesn't need anything. I can provide the rope, Poppy. And Remus, don't you worry, I am sure that Tonks is plotting ways to get her engagement ring back on her finger. But, since you were trying to be noble when you broke up with her, she will want a bigger ring. In other words, as Tonks might say "It is nice that you wanted to be noble but don't be noble at my expense. Just remember, my mother was a Black."
Author's Response: Thank you! I do enjoy playing with their emotions, so I'm glad you are enjoying reading them. Thanks for the review. :o)
Author's Response: Ginny is up next. Glad you're enjoying it. :o)
Author's Response: Thanks. I always try to make sure I have realistic reactions from my characters. It's actually sometimes painful to make them go through things. Like this. :o( Glad you enjoyed it and thanks so much for the review. :o)
Author's Response: Thanks. :o)
They have so much baggage on the shoulders, that it will take a some time to help them. (Even Dr Freud might not take this group.) One thing, I don't have HHOTOOP in front of me, however, my memory is that Sirius did not call Harry James in the book. I know in the movie, he said "Good one, James" just before Bella's spell knocked him into the veil. Author's Response: Yep, I was using the movie for that part in the chapter. I have done that a few times in the story. The movies are sorta my canon. LOL These boys do have a lot of baggage, but we have many chapters to resolve their issues, don't worry. Thanks for the review. :o)
I can also understand why he blames Severus for it, though most of that blame is unfair. Regulus was capable of making his own decisions whether that was to become a Death Eater or to leave Voldemort (I don't know if you're going to follow canon Regulus' story or not...but the point is that Regulus has to take both the blame and the credit for what he's done). Sirius has to accept that. It is also very hard for him to come back and suddenly find that everything has changed. He needs time to adjust, and I'm glad that Harry could see that. I hope Harry can find a balance between being there for Sirius and still being loyal to his father. But I do feel compelled to add that doing that would be very difficult and Harry is still a kid and he is not responsible for the decisions these grown men make. Sirius (and Sev) have to be the ones to learn to accept their places in Harry's life and learn to get along. It's not Harry's burden. But it might help if Harry can try to understand where Sirius is coming from and make sure that he and Severus know that both of them are loved and needed. I feel so badly for Severus, too. You did a wonderful job of showing what tremendous pressure he was under at school with his horrible parents and housemates wanting him to go along with them and their evil ways and prejudiced beliefs, and trying to hang onto Lily and be true to his own heart. Severus and Sirius actually have that in common. They both came from families that bought into the pureblood propaganda and wanted them to follow it, and they both rebelled against it in their own way. It's too bad they didn't realise it while they were younger. They could have been a great support for each other. Maybe I'm crazy, but I actually do think they could have been good friends if only they could have really 'seen' one another. Maybe they still can be though. I was so glad that Severus confirmed that Sirius was still Harry's godfather, that Remus apologised and that Severus accepted (and called him by his first name). It was a lovely chapter and I can't wait for the next one!
The flashbacks were PERFECT in showing why Sirius feels like he does. I find myself (at your intention, naturally) feeling sorry for everyone and being able to take no sides. I understand how all sides are feeling and can't quite fathom how they are going to find some common ground that isn't hostile, even for Harry's sake. But isn't that what makes this so delicious to read? Because of course you will find a way, OE, being the brilliant writer that you are. I'm so glad Severus seemed to accept Remus' apology (and called him Remus, not Lupin, which says much). And back to Harry again....he's such a ball of emotional anger, shame, and guilt I'm surprised he's not about to burst. And then he had to add in feeling guilty about not being able to convince Sirius about Severus as he's looking at him sleeping and I think that poor kid might crack. Maybe I'm feeling overly anxious for Harry here. *shrugs* Maybe it's the Mom thing in me. I'm having a blonde moment. Remus gave Harry his fourth hug of the night? I'm missing one. Sirius gave Harry the first one, Sev the second. Where'd I miss the third? Hugs are important and I don't want to lose track of one. So I can't hand out one until I've accounted for them all. OE, you always get one though! 'Cause I love the story so much! Author's Response: Well, technically, Sirius gave harry two hugs.... ROFL though, you crack me up, Cathy. Let's see. It has been awhile since Severus had any sleep, it's true. Remus cat a little nap, but not nearly enough. And no, you are not worrying unnecessarily about Harry. This really is going to end up being too much for him to deal with. And we've barely scratched the surface here. But don't worry, Severus will take care of Harry, have no fear about that. The kid needs some more sleep. But you know, he still needs to talk to his friends and learn a certain little secret with Remus AND eventually he needs to have a long chat witih Sirius. But yeah...a nap would be good first. Remember though...these entire two last chapters took place in a very short amount of time. Harry can't even keep up with his own weariness at this point. Glad you enjoyed those flashbacks. They were a whole lotta fun to write. And yep, everyone needs a little pity. Common ground will indeed be difficult to find. But hey, I could let it take a another 6 months or so. Or maybe even a few years. LOL Severus did verbally accept the apology. He did that for Harry though, just like he will accept Sirius for Harry. There is really no way he would have done as much (even though he might have felt it) had Harry not been there. He is way too emotionally stunted. Sad... Harry is about to burst. It will be awhile though. He hasn't really had time to digest all that's happened. Nighmare city, Cathy. Did you ever really doubt our poor Harry's capacity to give up angst? LOL Thanks for the review. Glad you liked the chapter. ;o)
