Reviews For The Heir to Prince Manor
Author's Response: Yes Vernon is a nasty wicked man. Quite awful. Eventually, Petunia will have a normal life again. And a much better behaved son.
Author's Response: That's how I see him, as a dark protector, very fierce and loving. I wanted to try a different tack on Petunia here, as a decent yet abused wife.
Author's Response: I guess she figured that it wouldn't make a difference since both his parents were dead.
Author's Response: Well, yes, but as he said, he was caught off guard and couldn't manufacture a decent excuse. Or even pretend to go along with it. It was a mistake and a costly one.
Author's Response: Thanks and by the way, I have the sequel posted now so you can read about their continuing adventures at school. Look for Return to Prince Manor.
this is one of the best episodes ever. i loved the cheeky family fun. bring on the mud! keep up the great work! Author's Response: Thanks! I like a good mud fight myself! It's always nice to see all three having fun with each other!
Author's Response: Okay, then that's your choice, because both Smidgen and Sarai play signifcant roles in the next story as does another OC, they are what make Prince Manor different from other Severitus stories. Thanks for reading anyhow.
Author's Response: Thank you so much! I already have a sequel posted!
Seriously; this is one of the best Severus/Harry stories I've read: the plotline is original but makes a lot of sense and I love your new characters. If I had one criticism it would be that I felt that the relationship between Harry and Severus recovered too quickly: even in the case of a 'lightning bolt' epithiny, I think that, after such a long period of pointed dislike, both characters would take quite a bit longer to lose the habit of snarking at each other. A great fic; please, please, please write the sequel; I really want to see whether Hermione becomes lady of Malfoy Manor ;) Author's Response: Thanks very much! I wanted to do something different with this fic and so I added the realm of the fae into it. I'm happy you liked it! And since this was set right after third year, the dislike between the two is not as strong as it was after fifth and sixth year, plus they had a lot of time to adjust to each other in the manor by themselves before Draco showed up. Weeks went by and the fact remained that Harry couldn't dislike his father any more after seeing one, how he cowed and got even with Vernon and Dudley and two how he took him away from there. And much of Sev's resentment at that point was based on his thinking that A) he was James Potter's son and B) that Harry lived the life of a pampered spoiled brat. But once he finds out the truth, that this is HIS child and moreover a child who was treated just as badly as he was by his own father, there is no way that previous resentment would stand, because Severus is a logical man and logically all his reason for "hating" Harry are now gone. Most of the Severitus stories tend to be set AFTER fifth year, with the Pensieve and Sirius's death, and THEN you have the most awful resentment and dislike, but not here. And frankly, I didn't want to go through a long drawn out period of rebelliousness with Harry when he could clearly see that his father was trying to help him and then go through another one with Draco. After awhile it just gets boring to write quarrel after quarrel. I have already started the sequel called Return to Prince Manor, the first chapter is posted.
Author's Response: Yes, you're right. It makes more sense fo Severus to be Harry's dad in mythology terms, he is an amazingly strong wizard, mysterious and interesting, and both he and Harry had similar troubled childhoods, always a plus when you are talking about the reluctant hero, plus Severus is the redeemed hero besides. James is almost like the pampered prince in the fairy tales who needs to be taught a sharp lesson in how to treat others with respect, considering what he was like in school--a bully. And while he redeemed himself in death, it just seemed . . .I don't know . . .too cliche or something. I never really liked James in canon, he didn't have enough depth, and I found him annoying. I have always admired Severus however and think he will be a great father for Harry. |
