Reviews For The Heir to Prince Manor
I'll take my potion now, and my free trip! Sorry, Professor, no you can't use my finger in your potion! Author's Response: Thanks and that last part was really funny! *sev glares at you now!*
Okay, now for my review. :) First off, I love the whole thing with Hedwig and Stormy having owlets, that's just too cute and beautiful! I loved how Severus went out and took some pics too, great Kodak moment! :) The food fight . . .ROFLMAO!! Especially the Bite Me part. . .too funny! The part about the grades and all, I can sympathize with harry totally, since I was terrified of getting bad marks in school, because then my dad would be disappointed too. It was great Draco shared his own experiences with Harry and reassured him, he's a good "big" brother. I loved the way Severus handled Harry. He was calm, didn't scream, and even though he was very disappointed, he made sure that Harry knew he didn't need to be perfect, unlike the way Micah and Tobias treated him. I liked the line when Harry says he has to get perfect marks because he's a teacher's son and Severus tells him, not necessarily, that's it's okay to mess up. That's a very important thing for a kid to learn. Sev's punishment was fair, he taught Harry a lesson without abusing him or hurting him, and the kid does have to learn the subject and that was a clever way to do it. Loved how he gave Harry his old text too! Brilliant! hey, when's my potion coming? The slots are calling my name! Author's Response: It's a coming, hold your horses! Sev's brewing it as I write this, LOL! And I'm glad you're enjoying this!
Loved the owls having babies, that's a new one! And the food fight--hilarious! Can I have Sev for a dad? He's not perfect, but he tries. And draco & harry are lucky they've got him. I loved the scene in the study btwn Sev & harry--perfect, I could feel the emotions coming off Harry and from Severus as well as he tried to reassure him. Great job! Can I have my potion and my free trip now, please? I really need to win me some money! The gas prices . . .ugh! Author's Response: I know, I think I'm going to start riding a broom! LOL! Glad you liked this chapter, and Sev does try really hard with the boys to give them consistency and fairness.
Author's Response: You'll be finding out soon enough! Poor Draco, he has the worst kind of father, doesn't he?
Author's Response: Yeah, she certainly deserves some! I loved writing the food fight, it was based on one that my two nephews had one day while I was watching them of course. Only difference was the dogs cleaned up the food on the floor! Me, I had to do well at school, because I had a perfectionist father as well, and though he never beat me over a poor mark, he would ground me. And yes, tests are typical of Severus. XD
Severus is a good dad to the boys! never really thought of Hedwigs and Stormrider mating...very nice touch! Author's Response: Great! Wouldn't you have liked to have been there? Yes, Sev does try really hard to be a good father. And I figured why not let Hedwig have some kids?
First: What's a gea? Second: Severus didn't want Harry to tell anyone about their newly discovered familial relationship. But Harry had already written Ron, Hermione & Sirius. Isn't he going to be angry? Entertaining story! Author's Response: A geas--that's Celtic--is a word for a oath or a spell of compulsion, it's used a lot in Celtic myths and legends. In this case, the Titania places it upon her messengers to ensure that they cannot lie, a useful trait in a messenger. A geas could sometimes be used as a punishment, in one of the Celtic myths, the King of Ireland's High Druid placed a geas upon a proud warrior to humble him and made him thank everyone who did him a favor for a year, including people like servants and slaves, and do them a favor in return. As for the last one, Severus did tell Harry he could write to his friends and he assumed he would tell them of his newly discovered relationship, he really didn't want Dumbeldore knowing just then, because he wanted to find out the old man's motives. He doesn't know about Sirius yet, so he might be a little ticked off when he finds out, but otherwise he understands Harry's need to share this revelation with Ron and Hermione.
The usage is with "have" as a helping verb, NOT "of". As in "should've", which DOES sound like 'should of', but is really the contraction of "should HAVE". So Severus is telling Draco (when he's berating him for having used kin-sa-dor on Harry) that "you'd've remembered", as in "you would have remembered". So it's really a DOUBLE CONTRACTION! Forgive me; I didn't mean to be a critical old she-bear here, just a former English teacher! As I've said, I've wanted to correct the "of" every time I've seen it previously. I wouldn't've done it here, but I couldn't've resisted anymore! Author's Response: That's okay, I've been meaning to correct that myself, but kept forgetting, as I've been writing new chapters. I've been putting these chapters up pretty fast, and I haven't taken the time to go back and re-edit the old ones yet, so thanks for the reminder, as I'm another former English teacher myself and I really do know better!
Author's Response: Thanks and I'm so glad you liked it!
Author's Response: So do I! I work in a bookstore and am a huge follower of myths and legends, hence the reference! |
