Oh, this was marvelous! I love it that Sev is adept at healing both with magic and with muggle techniques. And The shimmerling sounds like he's going to make it. Whew! THe story about how Sev helped Lily was wonderful and so was the last bit where Harry went out ot check on the shimmerling in the middle of the night. I wish i could draw the image I have in my head of Harry asleep on the couch with the shimmerling curled up on his chest on the sofa. Sweet!
Author's Response: Thanks, I wanted to give Sev a diverse background, since he was raised both as a Muggle and a wizard and it makes sense that he would have both methods to draw on. I'm glad you liked the Sev and Lily bit and that image of Harry with the shimmerling at the end is stuck in my head too!
Great chapter - I really like the way the shimmerling was healed (and the story Severus told), and the way it was having trouble because of its proximity to iron; makes a lot of sense.
Author's Response: Thanks, I read a lot about fairies and stuff and I noticed most of the legend stress that those associated with the fairy realm have problems with iron, they're allergic to it or it burns them, so I thought it made sense to continue with the tradition and have the shimmerling react badly to its presence as well. I always like giving those little tidbits about Sev's past too.

I not only love the way Severus healed the shimmerling but I loved how detailed everything was you really put a lot of thought into every minor detail in the story, I guess that is why I like this story so much. I think Severus is now on a pedestal in his son's eyes; he is a hero to his son and I think the fae creature would agree with Harry
Author's Response: I try and put a lot of detail into most things I write, I like it when people can "see" what I see in my mind. Little things are important, they make a situation seem more real, which is what I want my readers to feel, and I'm happy that you think I've succeeded! And Severus is now a hero indeed, to both of his sons, I think and the shimmerling, who does have a name, which you'll find out in the next chapter, does too!

A shimmerling? What a lovely name. If anyone can save th fae it's Severus, I'm sure. I thoroughly enjoyed this chapter (as I have the others) and look forward to teh next one.
Author's Response: Thanks, it took me an hour to come up with one. And yes, we all know how good our professor is at saving things! Go Sev! The next chapter will deal with healing spells, as I'm sure you've guessed.
