I am enjoying your story but one thing bothers me and it is a repeated reference to Harry being "mouthy" or having a "smart mouth". I don't remember a lot of sections in the books were Harry was this way(except maybe potions)...he would never have survived the Dursley's with a mouth. I could see him developing one after being sure of Snape in later years but not after only a month.

    Author's Response:

You're right, Harry knew better than to mouth off to Vernon, but Severus is a different story--he shoots his mouth off to him right after Sev is hidden in the bedroom in chapter three, and once they move to the manor, and he realizes that Sev is nothing like Vernon, which occurs right after the incident with the summerdew, he feels more secure and will occasionally have an attitude with his father.  That's typical adolsecent behavior, even the best behaved kids get snippy from time to time, and once Draco enters the picture, Harry starts fighting with him, and is angry at Severus for bringing Draco there, and so consequently he mouths off to him.  I can recall several sections in OOTP where Harry simply runs off his mouth at everyone, his friends and his teachers, especially Dumbledore there at the end.

Harry in this story has the Snape temper, toned down a few notches, and the Snape sarcastic mouth, which is what Severus is forever scolding him about.  You'll see more of that side of him in future chapters.

Great chapter - Severus' punishments are definitely effective ones. Will the nightmare affect just one of the boys, and the other one gets scared seeing them thrash around, or do the both of them have a nightmare?

Author's Response: You'll see! Just wait!

man! that was a bit harsh...but it was fitting.

    draco could have killed harry.
i have a feeling that before long the boys will be having a heart to heart talk and discover just how much they are alike.

    great chapter!

Author's Response: Yes, that's good thinking, and soon they will sit down and discuss their respective pasts.  And yes, Sev was tough on them on purpose, he really wnats them to end the quarreling its driving him insane.

I think that was a very well thought out and well deserved punishment. I was happy to see Sev really think about it, and not fly off the handle like he could have. Was very smart to do the diagnostic spell as well.
I really think that having to share a room is going to make them see things a little differently, and hopefully they'll start getting along better.

It does seem like they decided to bury the hatchet, at least for a little while. I liked the idea that Harry didn't want to stick around for Draco's punishment, it really shows some form of maturity on his part. (Sev and the wooden spoon always makes me think he's channeling Molly Weasley, and makes me laugh).

It sounds like Draco is going to have some Lucius horror stories to share soon. (I've been meaning to ask if you were going to get into any back story about what happened with Draco?).

Keep up the awesome awesome work, thanks for the quick update, and please update again soon. It's really starting to get awesome. LES

    Author's Response:

Yes, Draco's story will be revealed in a later chapter, and Harry will finally come to trust his foster brother and share his past as well, but not until something else happens first.

Sev and that wooden spoon, it's a typical mother thing, i think, mine always used to threaten and sometimes use one on us when we were kids and were trying to beat each other senseless.  But Draco did deserve the smacks considering he could've killed Harry with that kin-sa-dor technique.

Both boys regret their actions and they both give each other a chance then Sev's punishment was effective. Having them share a room will give both boys a chance to get to know one another and become brothers by the end of the two months

Author's Response: Yes, once they quit fighting and sit down and actually talk to each, they will discover that they've more in common than they thought.

Very good. THe punishment fit the crime (though I had been wondering if Sev was going to magically fasten them wrist to wrist so they'd have to cooperate with each other to get dressed , eat, do chores,etc.). It sounds like The wake up call just might work. Great job!

Author's Response: Ha, that would've been good too, but Scorpia already did something similar in her fic so I didn't want to go down the exact same road.  Plus, Severus doesn't believe in using coercive magic on children, that would only make them distrust him.

Ugh...what is *up* with adults forcing two squabbling kids to spend as much time together as possible? Doesn't Severus know that he's only brewing trouble? *shakes head* I had a fourth grade teacher that forced two girls to hold hands and be 'buddies' all day long after they got into a fight over the hand dryer in the bathroom...lol. It made them hate each other even more.

But Severus isn't perfect, I suppose. People expect him to be Superdad in the fanfic world, and he certainly isn't. He'll make mistakes, even if he doesn't mean to.

By the way, I'm pretty sure that Severus has officially run out of appropriate punishments...what's left? I hope they learn to tolerate each other, because I just had a Malcolm in the Middle-like vision of Severus forcing the boys to stick their heads under the couch... LOL.

    Anyway...

I'm anxious to see whether or not Harry and Draco are ever able to speak about their pasts. I think if anything will force them to bond, that'll be it.

Author's Response: No, Severus isn't perfect, not by a long shot, nor do I want to make him such, for perfect is boring.  And that image is really funny, by the way.  Whether or not his punishment if effective really does depend on both boys, but once they are able to talk about their pasts, they will begin to bond.

This is a great story, but you really should list a warning tag for Corporal Punishment.
I look forward to seeing what this story holds in its future.

Author's Response: yes, i forgot to click the button when I posted this chapter, though my CP is mild as milk compared to some, like pdantzler's, I think.

Can anyone say dead meat? Or grounded for life? Or paddled like the six year olds they've been acting like? I think poor Sev needs some Zoloft. LOL!

    Author's Response: Me too! Hahaha!
