Reviews For Where Shadows Go
Every child is different and every parent is different, this is a testing time for Harry he is testing Sev to see what he would do, if Sev passes then Harry would truly accept him as dad. Author's Response: That chart sounds like something my friend does with her kids, she has a chart for chores and when they do them they get a check and then so many checks add up to something, like a trip to the mall, the movies, ect. No checks means you get to finish what you didn't do on your own and then get nothing.rnrnAnd yes, Harry's testing both of them to see what he can get away with, and learn his boundaries.
Author's Response: Yes, and you're not the only one! They're both terrible!
Author's Response: Kids can drive you nuts, or so says my niece, who has a 3 and 7 year old and is trying not to pull her hair out. A good day is when both her sons don't argue and her youngest doesn't start throwing things or touching things he's not supposed to. They're as rare as gold and she treasures them. rnrnYou're right about Sev calling Harry a brat, unfortunately it fits his character, since he's a master of insults, and while my version here isn't so nasty, he still was raised with a father who insulted him constantly, and so he slips and does the same with Harry, even though he shouldn't. Although I may have another character point that out to him in a future chapter, so he can work on it. rnrnThanks for reviewing!
Harry sounds like an adorable little rascal though. Oh boy...Harry throws an even BIGGER tantrum, in the next chapter? I certainly wouldn't want to be Sev & Lily. I did my time, thanfully my kids are older, the youngest out of three is fourteen now. I've dealt with my share of tantrums though! Very glad it's over! ;) Author's Response: Well, maybe not bigger, but a little worse as you'll see.rnrnLucky you, only now you have to get through the teenage years, and they're just as bad, at least from what my sister's going through, LOL!
That makes a lot of sense. Thanks for explaining. Author's Response: You're welcome, always glad to answer questions.
Author's Response: Kids, they can drive you over the edge! Once I took my nephew to the mall and he ran and hid under some clothes racks and we went crazy, my mom and I, trying to find him, and we almost called the mall security and reported him missing! And when I did find him, I wanted to throttle him! That was the last time I took him anywhere without his mother!
I cant wait to see how Harry continues next chapter, poor Lily and Sev : ) Author's Response: I have both experienced and seen so many tantrums from kids at B&N that when I wrote that scene, the hardest thing was picking out what kind of fit Harry was going to have, over what item, and how Sev reacted to it. I replayed several scenes in my head before finally picking one. And I felt bad for poor Sev, like I feel bad for the parents who have to deal with it.
Author's Response: he is and somehow Sev and Lily will find a way to deal with it, and they can all be one happy family.
Your time-out times seem kind of weird. I thought it was a minute for the kid's age, but Harry's two and in five and seven minute time-outs. How do you figure that? Thanks for the update. I can't wait to read more. Author's Response: Yes, somebody once threatened to call the cops when my niece was yelling at her child in public one day. The kid pitched a major fit and bit her and all she said was "You are so dead when we get home, young man." Some people do go by that rule, but I prefer to follow my niece's example, she bases it on the offense, the worse the offense, the longer the time out. That was why it was seven minutes. And my Harry is based a lot on her Connor, who is the very devil when he wants to be.
Author's Response: If Vernon had come out, Sev would've, but since it was Petunia, Lily handled it. Hmmm . . .maybe I could have Vernon return and Sev kick his ass then? |
