I confess, I'm ambivalent about any stories on P&S that don't stick mostly to Hogwarts, and the canon HP characters. But you're doing some very entertaining and well-done storytelling here, so I'm not complaining, just commenting!
Very enjoyable!
Author's Response: Thank you! I occasionally like taking the characters out of school and having them do other things and interact with other people and animals, I think it adds more depth to the story that way and you can see different sides to them when they are outside in the real world versus school.
You might wish to amend the last sentence of the first paragraph here. Mushrooms are fungi, and nightshade is a family of green plants. (Besides deadly nightshade, it also includes "good" plants" tomatoes, and eggplant.)
Maybe you could..."a harmless mushroom and its deadly cousin, amanita.
Amanitas are the reason why there are no old, bold mushroom hunters. Several members of this group contain amanitin, one of the deadliest poisons found in nature. One cap of a Destroying Angel (Amanita virosa) can kill a man. (This last paragraph is from http://mdc.mo.gov/nathis/mushrooms/mushroom/poisonous.htm)
Author's Response: Thanks, I'm not a real botanist by any means, I only know common vegetables and herbs for cooking and appreciate your advice.

Kudos to Snape for saving Boreal! I really like him, he's an interesting character. Hope to see lots more of him. Harry was lucky Severus forgave him and the punishment is good.
Author's Response: Thanks and you will!

Poor Boreal! I'm glad he escaped from his cruel master. I like Sev's punishment for the guy. And his punishment for Harry was good too, now maybe he'll learn better. Great story!
Author's Response: Thanks and I'd love to get a few of those animal abusers in a hole with some fire ants, grrr!

Hooray, the horse made it! I love him! It sucks that Harry can't change into Whisper, but I guess it was fair too. Much better than Snape beating him, right? Update soon!
Author's Response: Yeah, I'd say so!

yay the pegasus lives!
harry was punished fairly, I'm glad Sev didn't beat him, he'd been through enough. That was sweet how they fell asleep together.
Author's Response: Yes, Boreal will become quite important to harry very soon. I liked that last part too!
Oh Sev was very fair, a spanking can be a very effective punishment for a naughty child but as Eileen said it is not the only punishment there are alternatives. Sev is very uncomfortable with this type of punishment because of his and Harry's past so he does not have to use it, for another child (like Ron) it may be the best method but it is not for Harry – he was already starting to unconsciously compare Sev with Aunt Marge. I think a week without Whisper is a very good punishment. Harry knows what he did was naughty and that he deserves some punishment but he wasn't bad he was a child who was having fun and didn't think, ALL children do that and it is the responsibility of a good parent to guide them which is what Sev did. The scare of almost losing Sev should make Harry think a little more about the danger around him...but he is just a child and he deserves some childish moments. I think that Harry in the back of his mind believes that eventually he is going to screw up so bad that Sev is going to leave him or that Sev will think of him as a Freak, Harry has to be reassured and reminded that Sev is his angel. What is a parent but an earthly angel.
Author's Response: Exactly right, and Sev realizes that the child needs a lot of reassurance, even if he won't admit to it. Harry isn't used to being around people who care about his wellbeing and he's not used to thinking that how he feels or what he does matters to anyone. it's all very new to him and it will take him awhile, the whole summer, perhaps, to get used to it. Thanks for the lovely review!

very cute I like boreal I think her and harry will get along great.
Author's Response: Great! Boreal is a he, by the way, a pegasus stallion.
great chapter, glad severus worked his magic on boreal and should make a full recovery.
the punishment for harry was fair and harry should learn from it
Author's Response: Harry will be very involved in Boreal's recovery and will indeed learn his lesson, this time.
great chapter, harry was very brave and couragous as instead of running away he helped save the flying horse from the wyvern and should be commended.
as for the punishment, before this chapter i was thinking severus should be quite harsh but harry saved severuses life and his punishment should be reduced because of this.
i hope severus manages to save the winged horses wings
Author's Response: Yes, i agree and you can see what happens to Boreal in the next chapter.
