I think Sev would take Harry as his foster son if he could.

Author's Response: he would definitely do that! That's what he wants to do, deep down, and it's killing him that he can't, another reason why he's probably very grouchy.

I really liked the way Percy acted with Ron, it makes sense that he'd be worried, and feel responsible. Looking forward to the Quidditch game :D

Author's Response: I made Percy react the way my older brother would have if I'd done something like that, after all the Weasleys are a close knit family and I'm sure that they all love each other a lot and it's always the job of the older sibling to look out for the younger ones.  Quidditch is coming!

ironic how much severus and harry are alike. Apparently Snape expects Harry to come ask for help (somethign Harry is hardly capable of) but he himself gets to refuse help and pretend he doesn't need anyone. good thing Minerva didn't fall for it! Go Min! Its kinda cute, her taking care of Snape. Perhaps if Severus could be shown that he is holding harry to a standard he himself is not keeping, he might be a bit easier on the boy. Or at least explain to him why his life matters instead of just yelling away.

Author's Response: They are both products of their childhoods, unfortunately, where the only person they could rely on was themselves.  Minerva knows this and perhaps with a few hints, Severus might also come to recognize that he and Harry are alike in that regard. They obviously had a lot more to discuss in the office that Harry doesn't know about.  And while he might scold Harry at first, he could also talk to him afterwards and explain how scared he was that Harry had knowingly risked his life, which is so very precious.

I felt bad for Hermione here. It's really hard being smart in school, you either a nerd or a geek and people use you to get better grades. I'm glad Harry was going to defend her, the fight was great as was Snape's comments afterwards. But uh oh, is Harry in big trouble, or what? I think Snape might take his broom away.

Author's Response: yes, i used to be one of those smart people, so I know where you're coming from.  Snape taking his broom away . . .could be.

I loved it! Especially when the boys were more afraid of Snape then the troll! Hilarious. And how Harry defeated it. "Death by cauldron!" I cracked up. But Severus was right to give them detention and I think Harry's in for a long lecture and probably a smack too for scaring Severus to death like that. Oh and I loved the Sev/ Minerva conversation too!

Author's Response: he may be, definitely for a lecture, the smack, well we'll see.  Severus and Minerva really cracked me up when I wrote that bit about her grabbing him by the ear.  And you have to admit an angry Snape is scary!!

Whoa, whoa, religion warning. Well I enjoyed it so far, I just encountered your story and was reading it in one go. Snape was OOC and I doubt very much any child would have accepted so easily that an abusive situation was allowed to go on but it was a good read.

I am quitting here though, as I have zero tolerance for religion inserted into fics, especially this kind of God saved us all, etc, etc, etc. The good thing about HP is that religion is not mentioned really, so there is such a thing as reader applicability - anyone can read it, no matter what they believe in. This majorly, majorly crossed that line. "Of course we believe in him" - "God" forbid there are people who a)don't believe or b) don't believe the same thing ah? Not very nice at all.

Well it was good while it lasted so thanks for that.

    Author's Response:

Sorry you feel that way, this was a different approach I was using here, and there was never any mention that other wizards can't believe in other religions, just that Severus was Christian.  He was refuting Petunia, not badmouthing other religious beliefs.  There will be mention made of other religions as Harry speaks with other wizards and witches who are not Christian and there is no disrespect intended here.  Severus simply is using religion to illustrate the point of forgiveness, which I think is a major concept of any religion.  It isn't as if I've made him a priest who goes around spouting Bible quotes.  You could always skip over the small bits of religion I've inserted, and there aren't all that many, the same way some people skip over CP parts in other stories, for this is mainly a fic centered around a father son relationship and the events in the Sorcerer's stone.

As for Snape not being in character, he's not like canon, because in this story he was in charge of Harry from the time he was four and always when the child was ill and sick and at his most vulnerable.  Snape does have a heart and is not evil, and after taking care of a child in that manner for years on end, I would think he would come to care and love Harry and be able to look past the fact that he was James's son.  Canon Snape never had that chance, he only saw Harry at school and it was easy to resent the boy who was favored by everyone and who broke rule after rule and was never punished for it. But this Harry Severus only sees as an abused neglected child, Lily's child, whom he has promised to take care of. Unless one has a heart of stone, it would impossible for anyone not to love poor Harry.

However that is your choice and thank you for reviewing.

I am simply tingling with excitement to read your next chapter, Snapegirl! Although... you have me wondering what his Animagus form could be. Something graceful and beautiful but deadly as well. I still say either a serpent or a panther. What else fits him? Um... give me a minute to think here... I've read stories where he's been a Dark unicorn. A lion perhaps? I /cannot/ see him as a wolf - he is way too freakin' dignified for that! A type of bird of prey maybe? A falcon or a hawk?

I love the interaction between Severus and Harry; it is very believable and they remain in character throughout the chapters. Again, amazing, /amazing/, work, Snapegirl. You should be proud of yourself.

    - So remind me. Why am I reviewing your story when you know how much I love it?

::peeks around the wall:: Are you absolutely 100% sure that Severus isn't a vampire? ::winks and bolts::

    Byesies for now!

    Love,
    Jewels.

Author's Response: No, it's not a wolf, that much I'll tell you! You review my stuff because you can't help yourself, LOL!  Get ready for some action with the troll.

Wonderful job here. I loved the part with the breakfast and how harry thinks that he's the only one who truly knows the real Snape. He's right. It's too bad no one else knows it. The broom was awesome and I know Harry will take good care of it. Update soon, I want to see what happens with the troll!

Author's Response: You'll be seeing it soon!

Love the relationship seen at breakfast ...I find the personal thoughts great especially Harry’s realisation that he knows Sev better than anyone and sees a side of him that no one else sees I think that this side is the raw Sev him without any masks. Ron is a child in many ways but (I know Hermione is going to realise very soon if not already) Ron should soon realise that Harry does not like anyone to say anything bad about Professor Snape. Love that Snape sent Harry the broom and that Harry told Ron it was a friend of his mom...this would be good to establish this “uncle” so anytime Sev gives Harry anything he could say his uncle gave it to him maybe he could use Sev’s middle name so the others would know of Harry’s “Uncle Tobias (Toby)” and would not connect it to Professor Snape

Author's Response: It is indeed the side of the professor without the mask, the side that only Harry sees.  Eventually I think Hermione will notice Harry's reluctance to badmouth Sev and Ron perhaps as well.  That's an interesting idea about "Uncle Toby" and I thank you for suggesting it.  If I use it, I'll give you credit for thinking of it.  It's a great idea of how to explain where all the gifts Severus will provide him with are coming from.

I love this story and Severus' profession of faith. I can totally see him as a dark angel him as Harry's dark angel. I started from chapter 1 and read right through...thanks:)

Author's Response: Thanks, I love picturing Severus that way, as the guardian in the shadows who saves Harry from himself and other students too.  He saved Katie Bell in Half Blood Prince too don't forget.
