I don't think it is cliché. I've only read maybe 3 stories with this plot... and only 1 of them was good. Now 4 is on the list, with 2 of them good...:)
AWwww, this is so sweet! I really hope you update soon! This is so well written!

I feel sorry for Harry, he's so scared, I hope nobody leaves Harry at the Dursleys. Um, please make sure that with future chapters, you spell Severus and not Severs that you seem to spell sometimes. Keep up the good work and please update ASAP. :)

Please keep writing, I am enjoying this story very much so far! You have a clear, concise writing style that I find very refreshing to read. Keep up the good work!
You mentioned that you might not continue this story... that would be a shame! It is off to a good start, and I am eager to see your take on Dumbledore's character. I hope you update soon, I'll be watching! :)

Great story! Can't wait for more!
very very nice. Please continue. I love this grumpy Sev
Poor Snape, he must have been mortified to have to hug little Harry in front of all those people, not to mention getting lectured at, lol. He deserved it though, upsetting the poor kid like that, and it was cute :).
Dumbledore and McGonagall are sure in for a surprise. Can't wait to see their reactions and I hope the Professors find out about the treatment of Harry so doesn't have to return to the Dursley's.
The one about English distances was from me btw. If you want help with stuff about England email me. I live in Surrey, so I know it fairly well.

While this is a good story, and unlike many others obviously written by non brits, does contain actual British places, it is worth noting that Surrey is a small English county (not an American state) and most places in it are unlikely to be much more than 20 miles from Guildford. England is a very small country and 250 miles from Guildford would likely get you to Leeds and beyond, which is quite far north from London. It is worth noting, that the total length of England from top to bottom (that does not, of course include Scotland) is just under 400 miles.
