    excellent chapter.

    If Sev really has used that potion before, he should be able to see what is happening with Harry. . . although, how much of that is because of his overall mental state--he's not in that great of shape(understatement). And would SOMEONE (preferably Snape, but even Hermionie would do) Please notice that blasted cuff--it's draining the poor boy! Is it feeding that nasty toad as well?

    He does see it . . .and part of Harry's problem is the side effect of the potion and the other is his mental state--stress and loneliness.

    The cuff shall be noticed next chapter.  yes, it is draining him but no, the toad isn't getting any benefit from it that way.

    Yay for the infinite wisdom of hagrid! I do so love your portrayal of his character! I can't wait to see what happens between Sev and Harry, I hope they make up!!

    I know it's just a letter, but this cliffhanger is driving me crazy. And thank goodness Sev is going to talk to Hagrid-- I can't wait!
    I like that time slips by at a decent pace; something big doesn't have to happen every day. The relationship seems more realistic because although we can observe that Harry and Sev think about each other every day, they are both busy and the actions they take are spaced out over several days.

    Yes, I know.  The talk with Hagrid is one of the major turning points here for Severus.

    Good, I didn't want to rush it so much and have people going--but what the heck just happened?

    The progression of days is also useful so you can see Harry and his reactions to his classmates and Umbridge and all that dreadful homework--the pressure is really getting to him.

    And in a different way, Sev is slowly regaining his concern over his former familiar.

    Okay, I'll admit it. I just got all teary over this chapter (at work, no less). And I am not a fuzzy-wuzzy, tear-up at any little thing kind of reader. I am at the mercy of this story.

    Love this chapter and the previous one-- I'm cheering both Dumbledore's dramatic exit as well as Harry's entrance. If I had to criticize one part, I find the start of this chapter a little awkward. The exposition about Umbridge's beliefs is necessary, but some unknown narrator just breaks in a tells us-- better to tie it to a memory or event.... Still, I love the bit about Draco and Marrietta last chapter-- better than cannon. Here's wishing you tea and cream cakes on your B-day (even if it's well after now...).

    Author's Response: I wanted to give Marietta a more concrete reason to betray her friends than in canon, and it just made sense she would do it for a crush--like many another woman or girl before her.  Thanks for the birthday treats! And thanks for reading!

    That horrible woman1 She had no right to do that to harry! Evil witch! She needs to die in a big way! And Severus has to read the letter and help harry before he loses it. I hope Hagrid can shake some sense into him.

    Umbridge is such a .... ! Harry is lucky to have Hermione, Ron is not helpful at all. Oh, and I bet there is more than Umbridge told Harry about the animagus-inhibitor! Something wicked. Is it a bug? Mila

    Author's Response: She is that all right! You're right about Hermione, Ron has never been much help when it comes to schoolwork.  There is, that cuff is BAD news!

    Umbridge is so evil! Is she going to get worse or better? I hope Snape finally realizes how awesome Harry is soon. It would be interesting to see Snape nurse Harry back to health again, only this time both as humans.

    Author's Response: Uh, it depends on what happens with Harry and the magic cuff.  He will be discovering that soon and yes, it would be an interestinf scenario. I love a protective Snape!
