Reviews For Alea Iacta Est
Author's Response: Four days is a little more than half a week. ;) That's pretty impressive. I don't know what I'll do when I've exhausted the HP fanfic that interests me. As bad as it sounds, lol, I've already thought about some of the possibilities people may come up with the original novel I'm working on. The storyline I've got figured out should take 3 or 4 books, and I already know that like the first thing I'll do after I finish them if they're published and hopefully somewhat popular, is read the fanfic as a result of them. lol.
It's very believable to have had Harry and Severus have a tiny clash (if that isn't too strong a word). As they both said, neither has experience with caring/being cared for, and they are both tired and under stress. But I'm glad that they were able to talk and explain and that everything was all right. I think Harry has enough going on now without disagreements with Severus to worry about. Why do I have the feeling that it was a bad decision on DD's part to obliviate Molly...she will be most unhappy when she discovers it (and of course it will come out at some point, right?), and Molly's temper could cow even Dumbledore! And now Voldemort too! Poor Harry, they do need to start Occlumency lessons again. Surely they can do a better job of it now. Great job again! Author's Response: I don't think a tiny class was too strong of a word at all. It is highly believable that they wouldn't get along all of the time. Along with being tired and under stress, it's an adjustment to living with a new person. I know when my grandma stays with us, she never clears the time off the microwave and that always drives me nuts. It's the small little things that are different and while Harry and Sev haven't gotten to those things yet, I'm sure some will pop up. You'll have to keep reading to find out if Molly discovers Dumbledore obliviated her... Yes, Harry will need to begin Occlumency lessons again on top of everything else. I think they can do a better job of it now, too. ;) Thanks!
I like Severus has realized how much he still needs to know about Harry, and that he is really caring for him now. Of course Harry is nervous about the chemo starting...who wouldn't be? But I hope that it won't be too bad for him, and I'm glad that he at least has a real home and someone who cares to look after him. Author's Response: Thanks! Severus had to figure it out eventually that he really doesn't know Harry at all. It happens to people all the time, even close friends who don't bother to notice a person's eating habits or certain likes or dislikes. Of course even if he did really know Harry, it's different living with a person. Harry does have a real home and someone who cares about him know so that should help him as he goes through his chemo. Harry will need some of your hope, so he'll appreciate it if you send some of it his way.
Author's Response: Thanks! I don't think you had reviewed this chapter at least. I'm not sure though as sometimes it's hard to keep track. lol. ;)
I am hoping for more angst and arguments. I think that Severus is being remarkably patient caring for his son. Harry is great. Great turmoil. I liked how much of a teenager he is being. I am a little worried for Severus. I think that he should make sure that he has a break away from Harry at least once a day. Thanks for all the updates! This is a great story. Author's Response: I admire your efforts to stay away from fanfiction even if you didn't achieve your goal. :) I think the last chapter you reviewed was way back, though I could be wrong. I'm also guilty of reading things on fanfiction.net. LOL. I just usually go to that website first because of my web browsing routine that doesn't feel right if I don't do it in a certain order. LOL. I know, I'm a tad bit OCD. There will definitely be more angst and arguments ahead. Sev is being incredibly patient. I think he knows he has to be the adult and father in the situation if he wants it to work out and be the best for Harry. We as writers sometimes forget that Harry is a teenager and should act as such. I'm happy to hear you've noticed that since I've been trying to keep Harry acting his age. I agree that Severus should make sure he has a break from Harry at least once a day. Try telling him that though. He's being quite protective at the moment, and I think it'll get better for both of them once this first week of chemo is over. Thanks again!
Author's Response: I've started the next chapter, but I'm not sure when it'll be finished. I have grad school applications to complete and my classes this semester actually require me to read and write, so I have things that must be done before I get to work on this. I hope you understand that as a student who works, my free time is limited.
I hope Harry starts to forgive Severus, and that they get close and take Dumbledore down lol! I wish snow for you....though just a bit too much would be bad, or so I've heard. Author's Response: It's sometimes easy to forget that Harry is just a teenager prone to teenage outbursts much like a toddler's tantrum. It's easy to imagine any normal teenager yelling at his dad through a closed door. I'm sure Harry will come around once he fully processes the information. He doesn't have much strength to put up much of a fight either. Maybe they'll both take Dumbledore down, but I have a feeling Sev is kinda protecting Harry from anything that doesn't concern his health and getting better at the moment, so Harry may never know the full extent of everything Dumbledore has done.
Author's Response: Wow, I could never even think of challenging myself to stay away from fanfiction for a month or two. I guess then I could actually read the real books I've been meaning to get to, but yeah that would never work. lol.
Author's Response: Yay! Thanks for snow! Unfortunately, it just melted right away. I guess that's good though since the Mardi Gras parades are getting ready to roll for like the next 3 weeks. I couldn't have Harry's reaction be fluffy and cuddly. It would be too unbelievable. It's good that Harry's expressing his emotions now, so when he does come around their new familial relationship can start on a somewhat clean slate without fear that Harry's repressed feelings would come out later. Thanks!
But I can't blame Harry at all! he was abused and spent his life with people who hate him and didn't forget to remember him that at any occasion. But Yeah Harry is Harry, he will forgive Severus ASAP. Did I miss Severus' birthday? Happy 50! Author's Response: Sev's birthday was Jan. 9 ;) You're right about Harry. It'll take some time for him to come to terms with everything he just learned. It doesn't help that Severus doesn't remember, so he's somewhat disconnected emotionally from it. Thanks! |
