Reviews For Just a father
Oh, they took a step backwards, pretty much. Poor Snape and Harry. I can see though how Snape is trying to not let himself get too close to Harry for both their sakes, but still. They both know they need that connection...*sigh* The potion is an interesting idea. Hope he eventually makes it. Hope Dumbledore doesn't discourage him from taking this step. But! The best part of this chapter? When Harry's nightmare and the pain in his scar mirrored the pain in Severus's Dark Mark. Both of them are equally as effected by good old Voldemort's "mark." That is an interesting connection between them. Nice! Do continue! Author's Response: Raven Knight, *Gives chocolate frog*. I'm happy to find that you think they're interesting, I wasn't sure if it would all fit but I think it did in the end, how they both seemed to have simular ideas about deceiving appearances. Yup, two steps forward and one step back in some sense. They aren't sure that they need it yet but they both sure do want it! Snape is having a traditional Slytherin "preservance" moment. *sighs as well*. I wasn't sure about the potion making sense, but thanks...I hoped it would be a good idea. I doubt Dumbledore wouldn't encourage it. Sure he is a spy but the blood wards for Harry would still apply here and they can work around the other issues (like Death Eater meetings etc). Yeah, glad you liked their connection, I thought it was something people seemed to slip past their notice at times...how they have that connection as well. Thanks! -Mel :)
Love Snape saying he doesn't remember being sorted into Gryffindor! Ha! My guess is that the boy in the picture laughing at James swooping in and out of frame is Sirius. OOH! Are you going to eventually meet the Marauders!? That's be interesting if Harry already recognized them because of these pictures! I don't know why, but my favorite picture you described was the one of Lily climbing the tree in the park (is this Lily and Severus's park?) Oh boy, did Dumbledore give Snape some hard candies? Bet he did, little meddler! And I liked Harry's puzzled-but-I'll-ignore-it-for-now thought about Draco and his parents sending something for Snape. I am curious as to how (and why for that matter) Snape had pictures of the Marauders...That'd be weird. But, for the purpose of the story, it's nice. I bet he went to Hagrid or someone...maybe McGonagall? Who did he track down the other pictures from? Gah! Christmas at the Weasley home sounds busy and excessively jovial! But it was cute that Harry came back early. And, aw, Snape admitted to liking having Harry around. Aww! "Permission to hug?" *blubbers* That's adorable for the both of them! Snape seems particularly fussy with his clothes being clean...Have anything to do with the infamous lake scene in fifth year, or is it just by hanging around Lucius Malfoy too much? It's a funny little quirk you gave him here. Yes, Snape, dinner is a good place to start indeed. *moves on to the next chapter* Sorry that I am a bit behind. Will try to do better. Yes that boy in the picture was Sirius. Yes, in Harry's third year the marauders (or at the very least of Lupin and Sirius) are going to be in the fic, true...Harry will recognise them. And also, yes that is the same park mentioned in TDH. Snape has many methods of getting what he wants, so those pictures of the Marauders and James had come from various sources, McGongall being one of them but hagrid had already given Harry all his pictures, remember? I will not be revealing the true location of the other photos just yet though ;). Haha, I notice that the "permission to hug" is very popular! I believe that that Snape being fussy with being clean actually came before that moment in fifth year, more from the fact that he had lack of it for most of his life. More on that later though, for Harry will be bound to notice it at some point, perhaps. Lol, the Lucius comment was funny though...but also likely. I do not mind you being too behind, afterall I still get my wonderful reviews that make me happy, motivated and grin like one who has discovered how to make Voldemort ticklish. I only hope that both of them can finally have what they so desperately desire...a family. I'm really looking forward to the next chapter. Oh, I love the bonding too, and that Snape actually got him such personal gifts, and especially that he gave him photos of James!!! That was so sweet that Harry called him Dad!! Great chappie. Sev ruined the fun though. I wanted Harry to run in there and jump on the bed. lol. Though it's probably too early for that. I had to laugh at one of the typos near the end. You accidentally said "She flickered her wand.." in reference to Severus. Oops. lol. Author's Response: Ellaelieniel, Yes, Christmas chapters are an delightful read, aren't they? I'm glad you liked the gifts Sev got for Harry. Haha, I really wanted Harry to jump on his bed and wake him as well but I had his wellbeing to consider and yes...it is a tad early for that yet. maybe next year? ;). Oh, did I? I also really loved Harry's meekness when asking for a hug and how it's still really awkward for both of them. You did a very nice job conveying that. I look forward to reading more! -P.G. Author's Response: P.G, Snape is still rather clueless to the fact that Harry wasn't depressed to have his company so he believed that sending him to the Weasleys would cheer him up and make him happy, although he did have to deal with how he himself felt afterwards. They have indeed come a long way already though. They are starting to think of the other as a father/son but you're right...no relationship (especially one as new as this) can go without it's disagreements and issues, which shall be more clear very soon. I think I remember Harry about to call Severus Dad in the last chapter? :D Well he got it out this time and now Severus is thinking too much, I bet Harry is too. I now await their awkwardness Author's Response: Fairner, :). I would certainly not want to be the one to wake Severus, it may be something that one could not live through...literaly.
