Hey Dawn! I am honoured that you modelled 'Lesley' on my Bonnie. That was so sweet. I am also honoured that you used my name and dedicated the story to me! Lesley was gorgeous... a tad different to her namesake, LOL. I was a redhead; it's all gone now and replaced by white. Makes me sound 80 but I am in fact 57. And believe it or not, I hate the name Lesley. It just seems so unfeminine to me, especially when you know that its meaning is 'from the grey fortress'. Lovely, huh?

Anyway, the story was very cute. I loved over-protective Sev and I adored that Sirius was there (and Remus, though he was a tab indisposed) and that they will be able to tell him that he has been vindicated. And Pettigrew has been captured! Yay!

I gather that this story is a spin off of "Sparks Will Fly'? I know we are only at the start of third year in that story, but you say here that Harry is fourteen, so he would be in fourth year. You also said that they had only known for a matter of months that Sev is actually Harry's father. Perhaps this story is an entirely different scenario.

Anyway, it was very cute, regardless.

I wonder, are Canadians quite as caught up in Halloween as the mericans are? I am not sure how big it is in England, though I would not have thought it would be anywhere near as big as it is in the US. Here, of course, it is practically a non-event. Retailers are trying to jump on the band wagon and turn it into a big money-making deal, but we would be lucky to see half a dozen kids out and about and most of them are just teenagers who don't bother dressing up and just want to cadge some lollies and use it as an excuse to 'egg' your car or windows if you don't have any. They also use shaving cream to spray on the cars and that eats into the paintwork if not removed straight away.

I have an English friend and she said that it was never anything in her day. But she is in her mid sixties now. I know JK wrote about kids running around on Halloween in DH, but I wonder just how many do.

Once again, thank you for the dedication.

    Lesley~

    Author's Response:

    Hi Lesley,

I'm glad that you liked it. It's strange, but when it popped into my head to write "little" Lesley, the name also did, and then as I started to write her, I coulcn't help thinking about little Bonnie. I think that Bonnie is a little younger than Lesley though, but I just kept picturing her in my mind as I was describing her. Yeah, Canadians love Halloween. At least most of them. I know that in England, it's probably not as big, but JK did have Hogwarts have a feast and everything, so I figured it wouldn't be too farfetched to have Harry trick-or-treat, and it was fun to write. Oh, that spraying of the cars, and eggs, sometimes happens here the day before Halloween. They call it "Matte" Day or something like that.

The story is very loosely based on Sparks Will Fly, but although SWF, will feature Sirius, the scenario will be a bit different, as you will see later on. It's strange but Sirius' presence in this story was a spur of the moment decision. It just sort of popped into my head as I was writing about the Haunted House. I'm not really sure why!  I just thought that it sort of fit in with the way that Severus was trying to get Harry to view Halloween in a different light, and this is why I also made Harry fourteen, instead of thirteen or fifteen, so that  Sirius would have still been on the run, the third year would be over, but Voldemort's return wouldn't make Severus stop Harry from going out altogether for Halloween.

Anyway, thanks for the review, and I'm glad that you are okay with me dedicating the story and basing little Lesley after Bonnie!! I love that story so much!

Aww that was such a cute story1 I loved how Ron was so clueless and Hermione kept hitting him and stepping on his feet. And Severus was the perfect dad and everything. I'm glad Sirius got to talk with Harry and make his Halloween special.

Oh and by the way, I have a Draco/Hermione Halloween story up on ff.net--it's a companion piece to Bubble Bubble, the flip side of the coin, so to speak. It's called Trick or Treat Slytherin Style. Hermione makes Draco go trick or treating with her in her old neighborhood. And lots of things happen.

    Author's Response:

Oh thanks Snapegirl. Yeah I love Hermione and Ron interaction, and wirting it is so much fun.  Severus is trying hard, but he's really over-protective.  Sirius' presence was the icing on the cake for Harry.

Oh, I'll go check out your story!! Thanks.

Ahh... adorable story. I loved the Ron and Hermione interaction. It was perfect. I was really surprised to see Sirius turn up and I'd love to see Snape reaction to his new 'neighbor'.

    Excellent story.

    Author's Response:

Thanks! I love the Ron and Hermione bickering; it's so cute, and it's definitely foreshadowing to them having a thing for each other.  Yeah, Sirius showing up is a surprise for Harry, and Snape is not going to be a happy camper when he learns about Sirius!

Oh, I enjoyed that! Loved the characters - especially Ron - and the scenes you painted so clearly. Bet Snape's not going to be happy though.

Author's Response: Oh thanks!  I love writing Ron too. Yeah...Snape is not going to be particularly pleased when he finds out that Sirius is his neighbour.

What a lovely treat, Pandora! This wasss a perfect Halloween story. I'm so happy that Harry and Severus have found one another, even if they are still struggling to adjust, and that Harry has a real home and someone who can take care of him now.

It was sweet how Severus had spoken with Harry about Halloween and had helped him to feel differently about it. I understand completely how Harry would not feel right about celebrating this day (in fact my SC Harry is like that, as you know) but at the same time, I know that James and Lily are all right and they would want Harry to enjoy his childhood and to be happy. I think it would be all right with them for Harry to dress up and go trick-or-treating. In fact, I'm sure they would love to see that, lol. And it shows great perception, sensitivity, and concern for Harry for Severus to understand his emotions and to reassure him.

Ron and Hermione were wonderful, perfectly in character. Ron is just so funny...anything for free sweets indeed. When I re-read the canon books, I always chuckle at his lines. He really does a clever sense of humor at times. And I think that Ron's contribution to the Trio is sometimes overlooked and underestimated, but I think he really does do a lot to ease Harry's burden and to help cheer him up. And while I don't know if there's anything in canon to support my belief, but I do think that Ron is aware of heavy Harry's burden is and how hard things are for him, and that some of his light-hearted comic lines are an intentional effort on his part to help his friend.

The Muggle children are cute, especially little Lesley, and I loved how Severus is accommodating Harry's need to be with his friends and trying his best to make them feel welcome.

And the haunted house was great! Bringing Sirius (and Remus) into the story, and letting Sirius be freed so that Harry can have them too was just the icing on the cake. And I'm glad that despite his own feelings, Severus understands that Harry cares for them and won't stand in his way.

Thank you for this fantastic story, Pandora!

    Author's Response:

Oh thanks Kristeh.  Oh that is true, I forgot that you had had a chapter about that very subject. Halloween would be difficult for Harry, wouldn't it?  But it was never brought up in Canon, was it?  I mean, we saw him enjoy the feast, along with the others, and no one ever mentioned it. But it is a valid point that Harry would find the day difficult.

Severus of course, is still learning how to be a father, but he realises that he has a lot to make up for. Whether he likes it or not, James is part of the reason that he gets to be a part of Harry's life, and he owes the man, his son's life, and that day is as much a joyous occasion, as it is a sad one. I think that Severus was trying to show Harry that he can't live his life in the past; he has to move on . These are lessons, that he,  himself has to learn.

Yeah, I love Ron and Hermione, and I think that Ron is a very funny character. I loved him in the most recent movie. He just has such potential, but yeah, he is overlooked as an important character and influence in Harry's life.

I loved writing little Lesley, and if you haven't read "Finding Ginny", you really should  I won't tell you too much, because it will spoil the plot for you if you decide to go read it, but her character "Bonnie" inspired my little "Lesley". Thus the name!!

Well...Severus doesn't realise yet that Sirius and Remus are so close. I'm not sure if he'll be 'that" understanding when he learns that they are his neighbours! :)

Leave it to Sirius to be the one to "dare people to enter his haunted house for unimaginable amounts of candy." *snort* This was so fun to read during a break before work. Love how Snape would be so paranoid as to check the candy for being tampered with (although when I was little I had to go through it too, Harry, so I got it). And Ron always almost revealing their world by arguing that magic is real was funny (even better that Hermione would smack him every time). So, poor Remus lives there too with Sirius. Can't have a haunted house without the werewolf howl. This was enjoyable to read. Cute, funny, and just delightful. (Wonder what Severus's reaction would be for Sirius living down the street. Haha!)

    Author's Response:

Thanks. It was just a light story that I couldn't resist to write.  Yeah, I thought that it was fitting that Snape was paranoid about hte candies. Yeah, we all had to go through it, didn't we?

Ron is quite ignorant about the Muggle world, isn't he? Thanks RK. Looking forward to some writing from you too!
