Reviews For When the Boat Comes In
Author's Response: Thanks ^^
Author's Response: Thanks: I wanted it to be a long one seeing as I'd not updated for a while. I'm glad you enjoyed it ^^
Author's Response: Thanks ^^. I'm glad you enjoyed the chapter. Puppies are both adorable and extremely frustrating and, more often or not, people and dogs only perfect their understanding of each other towards after six or so years, by which time the dog (if it's a larger breed) is starting to slip into old age.
Author's Response: Thanks for the review. A large number of substances are poisonous in high enough quantity, including oxygen. Naturally, different animals have different sensitivities, which is why dogs shouldn't be given 'human food'- not because they don't deserve it but because it's not always safe for them. Toby is useful for Harry because, unlike Reggie, who is bidable, with simple needs, and Hedwig, who is pre-trained and independant, Toby a. requires training, b. has complex needs and c. doesn't understand what is good for him; like most dogs, he'd happily eat himself into an early grave. Therefore, Harry must learn to be responsible for someone other than himself.
Author's Response: Thanks ^^ I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Author's Response: Thanks ^^ In the canon, although Harry often behaves much older than his years, he is also quite irresponsible; the events at the end of Order of the Phoenix are one example of a situation where a little consideration might have prevented a tragedy. Toby is going to teach Harry to be patient and the importance of considering all the posibilities of his actions, whether leaving a basket of chocolate on his bed or dashing into danger.
Author's Response: Thanks, I am feeling rather better. I thought that 'welcome to teaching' was rather a 'Severus Snape' comment. Toby, like most dogs, is going to put a bit of strain on the family and, now that Harry is rid of the soul-shard, he is going to be a little more bolshy.
Author's Response: Thanks: the Weasleys, with, perhaps, the exception of Arthur, Fred and George, seem to be a fiery lot but, with certain members, for example Ron and Percy, the temper is a real drawback as they are also resentful and slow to forgive. However, Ron is not completely implacable and, as he realises that he was wrong, the breach can be healed.
Author's Response: Thanks ^^. Ron and Harry will become good friends, as I expect is clear from this chapter, but Harry's time in Slytherin has changed him; he's more empathetic, more cautious (Slytherin's are a sensitive lot) and, naturally, more studious. Therefore, while he likes Ron, Harry will now see the more boorish side of Ron's nature, whereas, before, he might have ignored/made excuses for it.
Author's Response: Thanks ^^. I'm glad you like the owlets :) |
