Reviews For Through a Glass, Darkly
Author's Response: Thank you for the kind feedback! Draco and Albus are two of my secret favorites - I can't dislike Draco even in the books, and I really enjoy writing Albus, so thank you! I'm glad you're enjoying the story.
Author's Response: Thank you for reviewing! Let me say first that I never intended any discrimination against Christians or Catholics (I hope my Author's Note showed that!). Many of my friends are Catholics, and I know they'd never hurt anybody that way. That being said, "Exorcism" wasn't so much about religion than religious fanaticism. And religious fanatics have done horrible things - not only during the witch hunts of the 17th century, but also with today's attacks on gays, women, "non-believers" etc., anyone whom they feel God has made "inferior". Father Pius is that kind of person - the fact that he believes he is doing "the Lord's work" justifies everything he does in his eyes. I'm not trying to say that all Christians are like that - not at all! But I do feel very troubled about fanatics of all religions, and I think that's why I wrote this chapter the way I did. Thank you very much for sharing your thoughts!
Also, I hope that we continue to see Harry struggling to adjust for some time. I hate seeing fics where everything is solved in a few months time. Or even a year. Those kinds of things leave more than just physical marks. Happy Writing, Adrienne Author's Response: Thank you for reviewing! You're very right about traumatic experiences lasting longer than a few months, and I hope I'll manage to show that Harry has not suddenly transformed into a perfectly happy child at Hogwarts. Thanks for the feedback!
Author's Response: I'm glad you like Hermione - I think she's on her way to becoming a teacher... thank you for reviewing!
Author's Response: Thank you!
Author's Response: Thank you! I'm glad you liked the last two chapters - I tried to put a dark note into "Exorcism", so I'm glad I managed to get that across. Stay tuned for more Draco and Hermione in the upcoming chapters :)! Thank you for reviewing!
Author's Response: Thank you! I'm very glad you like the pacing of the story - it's usually one of my weak points in writing. Thank you very much!
and Severus is actually slowly letting his guard down which is even nicer. Author's Response: I'm glad you like Snake!Harry - he's fun to write! And I'm glad you like Snape's development (although he's in for a test in the upcoming chapters...). Thank you for reviewing!
Author's Response: No, not even Slytherin kids ;)! I'm glad you like Hermione and Draco; I love writing them. Thank you for reviewing!
As for hugs, maybe Snape will be able to give those as well someday and learn that it's not an "either/or" proposition. He can give a hug and still give security and concrete help. Author's Response: You're right on both accounts - Snape has a lot to learn. As for the food hiding, I think it's because Snape is a very rational person who is used to reasoning things out. He'll come to understand in time that sometimes, other channels of communication work better. Thank you for sharing your thoughts! |
