Love the pace of this chapter...I can see Snape having trouble buying him stuff but at the same time still buying stuff. But at the same time - Snape is a dad so I feel like maybe it's time the man warm up to the fact that he has another kid. And actually be like "OH SNAP I HAVE ANOTHER KID!" lol
hmm also - couldn't hurt to remind us a bit of stuff that's happened in other chapters. Like you dropped a hint that Ian was still mad at Snape but I couldn't really remember why so I had to go back a re-read.
Which leads me to my next bit...which you can take or leave...
I love updates, but maybe take the time to write little more. I love the dialogue and the pace of the action between the characters. But sometimes I feel like there isn't enough story. In an effort to update quickly it's like you'r posting little bits of a bigger chapter. Don't be afraid to make chapters long. If I've read all 28 chapters - damn right I'm reading 29 even if it's long and it takes you a couple of extra days to update! :)

This is interesting. I wonder how Snape is going to react to Harry declining his invitation. I'm excited to see what happens next! (btw, this story is fantastic and I love it)

I love this story. I think you are right on track with all of the characters. I only wish you would post the next chapter now because the wait just might drive me crazy
He needs to buy him something, but not a broom something small but with a bit of meaning.....

I have been enjoying your story and get the slow acceptance from Snape, but he is honestly startingto look like an idiot. He is a parent of a child he has raised himself, even if he is a petty spoiled brat, as well as a teacher and head of house, the idea that he can't, even three years later, see how much psychological damage he has done is laughable. If he doesn't start really changing soon it is just gratuitous child abuse.
Awesome chapter. Loved how it ended even I wished it was longer. Hmmm, hoping now that Snape will confront Harry with his refusal and Harry will remark that he doesn't feel wanted and that it's prob. Dumbles idea anyway. As for the broom issue. Hmmm, not sure about that one. Snape obviously can't afford it. Maybe Sirius can still send it. But I'd like for Snape to find out that Harry gets very little gifts and nothing from his relatives. Maybe Snape could go to gryff tower Xmas morning to give Harry something (ooooh, how about a picture of lily - that would be way more personal, no cost and then Harry might think Snape was sincere). And then Snape can overhear Harry thanking Ron and Hermione and overhear him make a remark about his relatives (dursleys) not giving him anything. Then maybe Ron talk about Snape and then overhear Harry say that he thought the invite was dumbles idea.

Thank you! Really like how you juxtaposed Lupin and Snape's approaches with Harry. Can totally understand why Harry feels like he is in detention. For the most part, Snape has seen his relationship with Harry through his own eyes - only as it effects himself (i.e. having to put up with a "trouble maker" and being so very patient.) However, in this chapter we really see Snape considering Harry's perspective - in that he makes sure Harry understands why he is being denied a trip to Hogsmeade. Slow but steady progress. Still, Harry is unlikely to warm to him anytime soon given his harsh - condescending approach. Also - with Harry having none of the background story with Lupin, Sirius, and Snape he is unlikely to appreciate Snape teaching him how to kill his much liked professor. (Though we can understand Snape being very serious about protecting Harry - he might not get that.) Thank you for all the work you put into this! Really enjoying the story.
