I think it might be Ian as I don't think Severus would send such a frivolous gift! Thank you
I think snape left the cards,I don't think Ian Gives a flip.no longer actively hating someone Doesn't mean he cares.

I am revising my guess to Ian because Cecil would have signed the card. Hope Ian tells Snape Harry never bullied him in that hallway all that time ago. Also hope he confessed to locking Harry in the basement.

Meant to also say - I loved the chapter and you are doing a great job! Also the choice of Exploding Snap cards for the gift was really well done. Also thought Harry's reaction to the idea that Snape might be worried for him was realistic. He would have a great deal of trouble believing Snape actually cared more for him than to just keep him alive for the war. Given his experience with the Dursleys and the way Snape has treated him it is going to take a great deal more than that for Harry to believe their is anything beyond that. Especially given Snape still doesn't even like him. Some of the most angst riddled heart tugging parts of this story for me have been times Harry has been trying to protect himself from hearing the things Ian and Snape have said about or to him when arguing a few chapters back. He just seemed so alone... Anyway thank you for writing and updating so regularly!

Did Cecil Dotrige send the cards or suggest Ian do it? I'm guessing most of the Ravenclaws would be happy have Harry as a brother and would have found it odd if Ian didn't visit or wasn't worried. Any decent teacher would not permit bullying or goofing off in their classroom. Here is hoping Snape notices how shocked everyone is when he actually did his job. Curious to know if he saw Harry's hands shaking or noticed him at all at lunch. Still feeling Snape has been seriously negligent. Sure hope Lupin doesn't think Harry is anything like James. Harry needs at least one adult who truly sees and believes in him.

I loved the chapter. Good choice, having Snape snapping at Draco being the first evidence (that Harry's witnessed) of Snape's behavior changing towards him. Chastising a student in class is, of course, very Snape-like behavior, but his directing his annoyance at Draco was different enough to show that he had enough of a motivation to change his behavior so publicly. It also worked with what you wrote in some of your earlier chapters where Snape was comparing Harry and Draco, with Draco coming off as much the bigger brat. Perhaps Draco's relentless taunting just tipped the scale in Snape's mind. Anyway, it would be interesting to see what was going on in Snape's head during that class period. Oh, and my guess is Ian! Working under that assumption, it would also be interesting to hear what Ian was thinking during the game. Especially as he was sitting with a group of his friends who, assumedly, wouldn't have any bad bones against Harry and would have felt nothing but fear and horror at his accident. Anyway, can't wait for more!
Sorry I stopped reviewing, I got too carried away with the plot of your story. It was fun to see Ian slip - by the way it was him who locked Harry in the cellar, wasnt he, but Snape never figured it out. I liked your McGonagall, she is a great character and I like the way you are picturing her. My guess for the card is that they are from Ian who is finally realising he should apologise to Harry. I bet Snape will be jealous that it was Lupin who Harry asked for help with the Dementors :) Great story!

I half expected Snape to leave Harry at Mrs. Figg.
