Bad luck that Harry is late on the day Snape is teaching. It's frustrating because it allows Snape to continue to see Harry the way he prefers to. Never mind that he could look up Harry's attendance and grades to know Harry is good student. I like this usually more thoughtful than cannon Harry. I do not wish to see him devolve into a "trouble maker" and give Snape's warped perspective any more ammunition. Quite the opposite - I was really hoping Snape and Ian would see some of the best in Harry. Harry is grateful that Snape helped him over the summer and I'm glad Harry feels that way but really Snape did no more (and actually quite a bit less) than what a normal decent person would do. Maybe Snape could visit the Weasley's and poor as they are I bet they would at least transfigure the couch into a bed for him. All of your chapters are good by the way. Your readers just like to rant at Snape and Ian. This is credit to your writing. We really appreciate all your efforts! Has Ian's opinion evolved,at all? Can't help but wonder how he will feel about these support sessions. Still surprised they were Dumbledore's idea. He knows Harry did not get a lot of support from the Dursleys so would Snape if he considered it long enough. No letters - never going home for Holidays and such. THANKS.

Snape really needs to stop with associating Harry with James. He needs to get past himself. Great story!

I liked the line "seeing Snape struggle so to keep up a somewhat polite conversation was so awkward it was almost painful". I could visualize the scene and felt Harry's pain!!

Couldn't help thinking how stupid Snape is, though. He's supposed to get Harry to be willing to confide in him, so he starts out by laying down the law and threatening Harry. I'm not impressed with his intelligence at all.

Good story, though, even if Snape comes across as an idiot.

Glad to see this will not follow the books too much. Feel free to take liberties. It's more fun that way. I figured Harry's confidant would be Lupin well before Snape. (And Snape could see what he missed.) There seems so little consequence for Snape's behavior. Snape has done so very little to earn the place of Harry's confidant these sessions seem so forced. It seems unlikely Harry would believe Snape cares for him any time soon. This Harry has seemed more likable, more studious, patient, etc. Than the book's yet Snape still only sees and lectures about the worst. It would be nice if he gave him even a little bit of credit. All he does is criticize and find fault - doesn't seem like a good way to win trust or affection. The fault in this is Snape's not Harry's. Yet Harry is the constantly being punished or threatened ( loss of quidditch.) Why would Harry warm to Snape? Especially when we see how tolerant/indulgent and kind Snape is with Ian. Thanks for the bonus chapter! Please keep writing!

Happy to see another chapter so quickly and congrats on passing 300 reviews, but story seems to be slowing a bit. Not nearly so much of that wonderful angst that kept me wanting more before. If Snape doesn't soon start caring for Harry then I don't see how Harry could possibly forgive Snape for all the hurt and hate. I know poor Harry is starved for love and affection but to start having familial feelings for Snape when Snape is still treating Harry like he's a bug under snapes shoe is a bit far fetched. Maybe if Harry gets hurt at quid ditch Snape could stay by his bedside and want to be there. Maybe even have Ian show up.
And Ian seems to have disappeared.
