Please please please don't sort Ian into Gryffindor... other than that, I'm looking forward to the next chapter.

I really like this story! I don't mind if Harry forgives Snape and Ian because I think that is his nature. But I really hope it takes him a long while to trust them. They have given him less hospitality than they would a stranger or a guest. He has worked for his food and paid for his own supplies. He has not even been given a bed. And it has been made clear daily to him that he is an unwanted burden there. I hope he is welcomed somewhere else.

Why does Snape think there has to be visible scares for it to be abuse? Most of those scars are invisible.

Another good chapter - It bothers me that Ian does not recognize that what he did was wrong. He blames even this on Harry (and Cecil and Snape.) He seems to have no guilt or shame in his own lies, cruel words and actions. While most kids are a bit egocentric - Ian takes it to a whole new level. He seems extremely selfish and completely non-empathetic. His only concern seems to be himself and how things effect him. He doesn't want Harry to take his place in Snape's life but apparently also doesn't appreciate having "parents telling him what to do..." Snape's distorted perception of Harry has clearly rubbed off on Ian - making him feel jealous and justified in his treatment of his brother. His insecurity with Snape might stem from a subconscious recognition that Snape's dislike of Harry is somewhat baseless - so he may think it could just as easily shift to him. It is sad that instead of this being about Harry's very real mistreatment - Snape's energies will be focused on his overindulged, self-centered younger son's insecurity. But alas this creates a lot of angst and tension which keeps us readers eager to learn how it will all be resolved. Cecil is a very good friend and I very much like his character - (I like your Harry too.) Thanks for sharing!

When Harry was looking at the wood, I almost thought he would go and chop it to get on Ian's good side, but at the same time I think Harry might not do that sort of thing at the moment because he's still just a kid too and he has his feelings hurt for being treated like trash.

I felt like Ian was afraid of losing his father to Potter and was acting the way he was because of that. Too bad Severus was too annoyed to go talk to Ian though. It might have helped. I hope the three of them can eventually manage to bond as a family but that may take time.

I think that the section with Ian and Cecil was needed...I think think Ian is a spoiled jerk; but friends disagree all the time and have to work through that, so it made sense. :D I am waiting for Snape to comfort Harry...Harry now needs someone on his side. Thanks for the story! :D

Thank you I'm glad Ian still has Cecil but once again Harry is on his own. You are showing his isolation really well.
