I liked that Harry got his vision fixed for Christmas. When I was small, I had an eye disease and my parents were told that my eyes couldn't be corrected. after some years it was found that glasses would give me regular vision but for years everything looked like an Impressionist painting to me. So I can appreciate what a wonderful gift good sight is.

Author's Response: My wish was to see my children grow before I lost my sight. I got my wish and then some. I'm grateful for it every day.

I enjoyed the description of Harry's new quarters. Who wouldn't want a bathroom that looked like a forest glade with a pond and waterfall? The Lily angel for the tree top was a nice scene, too.

    Author's Response:

My mum grew up in the mountains and on several occassions she took us to a place in the bush that had a water fall and swimming hole.

The angel is a tribute to my mum. When she was first diagnosed with a terminal condition she made all of her daughters and grandchildren a Christmas angel to remember her by.

I like that the Potters and Eileen all visited Albus as well. I am sure Lily really let him have it.

    Author's Response:

There is room there for a expansion at a leter date.

Perhaps they will all visit him at once.

I wondered if an angry Lily would be the last ghost to visit Snape. She definately would get through to him.

    Author's Response:

Don't cross a red head. They're nice and sweet until you do.

I liked your James Potter. And Snape clearly has a good side if he comforted little Harry before Hagrid arrived. He also is where the abused students are sorted so he must be the one who can recognize and care for them. Potter seems to have gotten through to him about Harry's circumstances.

Author's Response: He seems to be more at ease with his snakes. Had Harry been sorted to his house things would have been different.

Good for Slughorn in standing up for Severus. It was a good contrast to how Snape treated Harry in his first class.

Author's Response: Slughorn always struck me as a person who played fair.

Harry Potter, house elf. At last Severus gets to see the truth of Harry's home life.

Author's Response: Seeing is beleiving so they say.

Hmm. Sounds like his mum was the person young Severus really obeyed from his reaction. I'm glad he was able to have a Christmas of some sort as a child.

Author's Response: I think my mum and Eileen were cut from the same cloth.

I like that Tobias was shackled with empty liquor bottles. That seems really appropriate. It didn't seem like he made much of an effort to convince Severus to change his ways though.

Author's Response: Yes he could have but would Severus had thought his father was only out to save himself?

And we are off. Harry is in detention cleaning cauldrons and Snape is red-marking papers so all is right at Hogwarts at the moment.

    Author's Response:

    As it should be.

How much red ink do you think Snape goes through a year?
