    Hi Whitetail!
Thanks for the great chapter -- it’s dangerously captivating, and literally awesome. And I mean every word. :)
I might be completely wrong with this, but I sensed a bit of a 19th century literary style in Snape’s inner thoughts, especially in the first few lines. Anyway, he must be pretty ahead on his descent into madness, because I’m sure a mentally healthy Severus would be ashamed of (and angry with) himself for breaking down like that, for appearing weak in front of another person, whoever be the witness. As for Harry, he seems more okay-ish, but then again, physical self harm might just be a different route to the same pit…
I can’t wait for the update!

Author's Response: Howdy Annora! Awesome to hear your thoughts! You are most welcome for the chapter, and thank you so much for the long, detailed review. Hmm, 19th century literary style - yeah, I can see that! Haha, it's funny how sometimes books I am reading influence my writing! I've read a lot of old poetry and such (and write lots of poetry myself) so it isn't all that surprising it bleeds through. Ah yes, and Harry. Next to Snape he does look okay, doesn't he? Harry suffers from one of those issues that makes a person look mostly okay and feel okay a lot of the time, but the trouble is that it's those few times where the anger gets dangerous and the urge to feel pain gets too strong that really makes things difficult. Easy to pretend everything is all right, but really, it isn't. So yes, he does seem okay-ish - and that's what Harry is strugging with too, admitting he has a problem! Thanks again for your thoughts, and I can't wait to update too! Next week, alas.

Wooooooow. Amazing. I love it, all the emotions and intimacy of what's going on. I am so, soo glad that Remus decided to stop by any way. I wonder if he is planning something - Harry likely wouldn't catch it in the state he's in. I loved how you wrote out the part with Severus and what Albus said. Wow, fantastic job!

Author's Response: Hey Jan! Great to hear that you thought it was amazing! Hmm, is Remus planning something - that is the question, is it not? Good deduction! I am so pleased you enjoyed the part with Severus and Albus. Originally I only had this story from Harry's POV and had him find out why Snape was there about half-way through, but I really wanted to write Snape's struggles out. So I'm glad you enjoyed that scene. I really loved writing it. Thanks for reviewing, Jan! Cheers!

I'm amazed that Remus didn't know what was going on with Harry once he visited him.
I'm surprised that Albus managed to save Severus. He must be one heck of a strong old geezer! Heh, he's lucky Severus didn't poison himself, instead!
    Anxiously awaiting your next chapter.

Author's Response: Hmm, but is Remus as oblivious as he seems? Is he just keeping his suspicions quiet because he know Harry will deny anything until he's willing to talk? Well, I've always been convinced Albus was stronger than he looked. That, and adrenaline is more powerful than magic sometimes! Yes, he is lucky Severus didn't chose the potion route. Thanks for reviewing!

Excellent work on the disjointed thought processes of Harry and Severus.
I'm not surprised that both Lupin and Dumbledore have good intentions towards Severus that they never carry through on: Remus, to thank him for the Wolfsbane; Albus, to lighten his workload.
I'm always in awe that Severus handled so many things all at once.

Author's Response: Yeah, it is a wonder Severus was able to hold up under the strain of all his duties in the books. I can't imagine - and the pressure too! No support later on either, with the world convinced that he murdered Albus in cold blood. Thanks for the review. Always a pleasure to hear your thoughts! Cheers.

I wonder what the Daily Prophet said that has the train engineer making apologies.

Author's Response: Indeed? Thanks for reviewing!

Well, its a new Whitetail story, so obviously I have to give it a go, despite the somewaht gloomy premise. I thought the way you ran together Severus' choppy thoughts worked brilliantly to show his state of mind, so I'm interested to see how the story progresses.

Author's Response: Hey rosina! Kudos for giving it a shot! It definitely *is* a depressing premise. But it has its happy moments. Darkness cannot exist without contrast! Thanks for the review, and I hope that it remains interesting for you!
