That nightmare was probably more hurtful than any gory one he's had.
What a gift, having an entire trunk full of your parent's things. But now I'm worried because that's a lot of stuff and Harry doesn't have anyplace safe to keep it short of putting it all (or nearly all) back into his Gringotts vault. What would be absolutely wonderful, is if Harry could keep things at Severus' place during the school year. And not just the things like Lily's wedding dress, but like his first-year school books as well. But there's still time. There's still a little over a month left of summer, and then the entire school year, to figure things out. Since Harry now has his mother's Strawberry Meadows, I don't see it much of a stretch for Severus to give Harry the foal as a companion. Because one just does not a herd make.
Well, at least with Harry's birthday, he's not expecting much, if anything. I have a feeling that Severus has been stressing over it more than Harry even bothers to think on it beyond the passive thought. Hopefully, no matter what Severus comes up with, it'll lead to Harry being pleasantly surprised.

This was a great chapter. Harry was able to learn quite a bit about his mother without Snape blowing a gasket.

Lol.. Loved it! Strawberry Meadows cracked me up. The song or the song with a similar title kept running through my head.
Welp, it's not the first time that Harry's been locked into a closet for ages on end. At least in Severus' he has room to move, light and is somewhat comfortable. And with that reaction, it is definitely a genuine mistake leaving him in there for... however long it's been. At least half an hour. Definitely not long enough to skip a meal though. And with it being the display case, well, Harry's fascinated with the statuettes too, so it might take a bit more than just unlocking the door to get him to come out of the closet (Ooh, sorry. That was just begging to be said).

Severus must be very rattled to forget Harry, thank you a lovely chapter
Fantastic! I love that Snape just forgot Harry in the display cabinet, and then once he remembered he shot off in alarm. I wonder what trouble Harry got himself into in that special collection of probably very expensive figures. I really liked the description of the Lily figurine. It was like a personality or emotion was attributed to Lily Evans in the description of the horse, which is something Harry would likely be amazed by. He doesn't know what his mother was like, Snape knows what she was like enough to pick a certain figurine to represent her as a shrine. Wow. I would love to see an illustration of that figurine and Harry looking at it. If I were good at art I'd do it myself.
Good thing Harry went and got Snape when he did, even if it cost Snape a potion. I wonder what would of happened if Harry had just waited, and Lucius arrived. A close call, to be sure! Your story is really imaginative and descriptive, and at times humorous. I am loving it. Thanks so much for all the updates and new chapters!
