Reviews For Resonance
Author's Response: It's one of my favorite chapters. I feel like I spent much of the story building toward it.
Is Rick actually gay? And obsessed with Harry? Author's Response: Draco The Reluctant Hero That take with Rick is interesting. Feel free to run with that. Kind of makes those scenes hilarious in a new way. I was thinking that having been handed everything himself he can't stand the idea that someone who made it on their own may be taking things he thinks he "earned". Some kind of twisted projection of self-loathing.
Author's Response: He's throwing his hands up and saying "you're own your own on this one..." Not that snape isn't going to TRY and help, but this would be like a Muggle trying to help a magical person...in that it's a conventionally magical person trying to help an unconventionally magical one. Same issues. There's no place to even start with it. And Snape is always bluntly honest. Poor Snape was certain his tests were going to fail and now he just doesn't know.
And while Harry was worried about getting kicked out, was Rodgers worried about being fired? Author's Response: These are all really interesting questions. I'm always open to readers interpreting however they want to. These are my takes: Rodgers is 100% full of himself and not scared of Harry directly. He was/is very alarmed about having someone in the office utterly borking the politics of it by having undue influence to throw around to get their way/get out of trouble. Rodgers would prefer to handle things his own way. Fear of loss of complete control over the apprentices and their training is pretty much most of what's going on with Rodgers with regard to Harry. His first plan was to make it clear to everyone that Harry wasn't suitable. I don't think Rodgers thought imagined/imagines he could be fired for threatening to imprison snape. Even if he thought Harry might throw all his influence into it, I still don't think Rodgers would ever imagine it'd come to that. He's the kind of guy who is certain he is in the right and everyone will recognize that. That he backs down is mostly due to the influence of his peer group who manage to argue there is gray area there and that keeping Harry happy is worth dropping it given said gray area. For now, that is.
Author's Response: I feel like I'm downplaying how complicated that would actually be. One of the things that I think rescues it is the Victorian attitude magical society seems to have about things, both politeness and sex. Another great chapter. "For the beast" cracked me up. Even Winky can get in a one liner.
