Reviews For New Perspective
Thank you for updating. I loved the Pomfrey and Umbridge confrontation, good on Poppy! Harry needs to think carefully about the conversation with Severus he may be surprised! Author's Response: Thank you so much for your review! I’m so glad you enjoyed this part of the story. I agree with you—Harry has a lot to think about. Thanks again, sending you a big hug! You are very consequent in your portrayal: reading this scenario, you got us thinking that yes, it's likely that he wouldn't let go of his hatred even after he's seen the Dursley's abuse. It would take an awful lot, and your fic raises the question: when will he wake up to who Harry really is? After all, he's seen Harry get abused and tortured and he hardly bats an eye, so I'm curious if that is not the catalyst for some 'warming up', what will be - shear exposure? This is something I'm wrestling with in my own fic (Keep Your Enemies Closer, I haven't posted it here yet btw, it's on A3O and I recommend putting your fic there as well!) What I mean with that: I'm writing Snape as a cruel, mean bully to Harry, which he is according to Rowling herself as well. I'm writing a really slow-burn Snape mentorship as well, and I'm noticing I try to soften him up, then I reread later and I know: no, he will NOT soften up, almost nothing will get him there. So, you know, a lovely challenge to find the right buttons with Snape to push :). Thank you for sharing with us this gem, will follow you on FFN as well. Author's Response: Wow, thank you so much! I’m truly speechless. What you’ve said is the highest compliment I think anyone could give a writer, and I’m genuinely thrilled that you’re enjoying my story. I’m so glad you like the way I’ve portrayed Snape, and as for your question—well, it’s a very interesting one. I love having discussions about these themes; I find it both stimulating and fun. Regarding the question you raised, I’ve always thought, after reading many fanfictions, that the way Snape is often written to change overnight feels strange. It doesn’t ring true to me because Snape is such a resentful man, someone who has carried this hatred with him his whole life—he practically thrives on it. So I find it unlikely that simply witnessing Harry’s abuse would be enough to shift something so deeply rooted. I believe it has to be a gradual, slow process. Snape is an intelligent man, but he can also be blind at times, and I think admitting his mistakes—especially when it comes to Potter’s son—wouldn’t come easily to him. To overcome his hatred, I think he first has to learn to separate James Potter from Harry Potter. Frankly, I don’t think even being Lily’s son would be enough; it hasn’t been in the past, so there has to be something more. I don’t want to spoil anything, but if you continue reading my story, I think you’ll see where I’m going with this soon enough. As for AO3, it’s not a platform I’ve used much for reading since I’ve always preferred FFN.net, but I’ll definitely take your advice and start posting there as well. I hope I’ve answered your questions in a satisfying way, but if not, don’t hesitate to write again. Honestly, I sometimes wish it were easier to just have a conversation rather than replying through reviews, lol. P.S.: I’ve read part of your story, and I find it really intriguing. As soon as I have some free time, I’ll dive deeper into it. I’ve been missing good stories to read lately, so thank you!
Wow, I just noticed you haven't ended this on cliffhanger XD
Welcome back! We missed you and your updates, hope you're doing better now? Again such a lovely chapter, you are slowly showing Severus's change of heart I loved this, but I must admitt I'm worried for Menirva now ( hope she is okay) Can't wait to read more!! Author's Response: Thank you so much! I’m so happy you enjoyed it, and I’m glad you like my portrayal of Snape. As for Minerva, I can’t reveal anything just yet, but I needed Harry to have no one else to rely on except our beloved bat of the dungeons. Sending a hug, and see you in the next chapter! <3
Love love loved this chapter! Hope your doing well! Also can't wait for next chapter, also what was it specifically that Snape found amusing can't wait to see what's next Author's Response: He surely found many things amusing, like the fact that Harry pointed his wand at him, thinking he could defend himself if he were truly a Death Eater loyal to the Dark Lord. Then, of course, the way the Gryffindor kept racking his brain trying to come up with the right questions—he found the whole situation quite entertaining. Imagine Harry in Mad-Eye Moody’s shoes, with his constant vigilance, trying to uncover the identity of an imposter, getting all flustered and stammering. That would be pretty ridiculous. And, of course, he enjoys being able to intimidate Potter’s son, embarrassing him and making him run away from him. Honestly, I had a lot of fun writing this part. I missed reading your comments, and I’m happy to be back posting. A big hug, and I hope you had a wonderful holiday!
Why did Harry think Snape wouldn't let him leave the infirmary when no one else was watching??? Didn't Snape tell him already to head back to the Dorm on his own? Wouldn't Harry have thought he'd understand that Filch grabbed him wrongly????? The character developments are fun! Looking forward to more, hope things continue to get better for you in your personal life. Author's Response: I’m glad you commented and I appreciate your kind words. To answer your questions, as we know, when it comes to Harry, Snape is not always rational; sometimes he takes things out on him without any reason, and poor Harry is well aware of this. That being said, Harry continues to think that Snape always expects the worst from him, and he can’t possibly believe that Snape would let him slip away once he’s caught. Harry is, of course, aware that Snape knows he wasn’t causing trouble but was just heading back to the dorm after the vision. However, he certainly can’t imagine Snape saving him from detention, especially considering how many times Snape has deliberately gotten him into trouble. To him, it’s unimaginable that the bat from the dungeons would lift a finger to help him, given all the hatred and history between them. And let’s be honest, if he had run away from Flich, all it would have taken was telling Umbridge, and that would have been enough for her to punish him. I hope I’ve answered your question, but if you have any other doubts or curiosities, feel free to ask. A big hug.<3
Is the update coming soon? (Looks at you with puppy eyes) Author's Response: I think I’ll manage to upload something before the end of the year.<3 |
