Reviews For Harry Potter and the Map of Discoveries
lesley
And didn't the twins tell Harry all they knew about the map when they gave it to him? I really like your Dumbledore BTW. Lesley
I ound the horcrux revelations a tad too blase...told to Harry while they wait for Severus to come back and in a very big hurry. I suppose you have your reasons for doing it this way. Lesley Author's Response: I get tired of reading fics that stick completely to canon and basically copy and paste chapters of J.K Rowling's work and call it fanfiction, so I decided to change how Sev met Lily a bit. I also did want to do something with Petunia and Severus, but I don't know how that will fit into the fic. Yeah, I did rush the horcrux reveal, but I didn't want to just repeat canon. I wanted Harry and the readers to have enough info to get by on but at the moment it is Harry's parentage that I wanted to focus on. I'll do my best to return to these topics in the future :)
Loved the line...Harry had thought that face was reserved for him and the occasional stubborn stain...very funny. Lesley
Oh, yeah, and I very much hope Remus escaped Fenrir. Lesley Author's Response: Thanks for the review! I made the phoenix necklace not as a portkey but as a medallion for Order members to use to bypass Hogwarts security and be able to Floo into the castle from their homes. I'm sorry if that bit was confusing. I know I didn't really explain that, but I wanted to do something to show that the twins were Order members. tatajess

Gred and Forge at their delightful best. Can't imagine what their punishment for that last little misdemeanour would be if they were already going to be in detention until they left school. Very well written also. Lesley
Author's Response: Thanks for the review. Yes, Severus is really his father. It will be revealed in the coming chapters, so I hope you like how this fic progresses!
I had to laugh at the possible side effects rattled off (just like at the end of commercials!)--but including "...constipation and excessive toenail growth"!! The other thing I really like is that your characterizations seem a lot more like canon. Snape, especially, can be a hard yet delicate balance of qualities, and you really do a nice job. Well done! Author's Response: Thanks for the review! You're first line really made me laugh! Yeah, I don't know why it took me so long to decide to write my own fic...I really should have started when I was in college and had far more free time. At least updates would have been more frequent! Those commercials were exactly what I thought of when I wrote the side effects. I had to toss in something random that wasn't too gross, so I'm glad you liked it :) I'm glad you like the characterizations. Thankfully, I find Snape to be one of the easier characters to write. The only one I have real trouble with is Harry!
I'm so thrilled that you updated! Very original plot. Very intricate potion as well. You are very creative to have thought of it! Can't wait for the next update! Author's Response: Thanks for the review! Yes, I wanted to make it a bit different, so it won't be revealed (at least to Harry anyway) for a little bit more that Snape is Harry's father. The potion is a bit of a hint (as was Lily's behavior when James volunteered his blood) for what is to come. I hope you enjoy how it progresses! Thanks so much for your kind words :) |
