Short. Very short. But I like the occasional darkfic, and this one certainly has scope for the imagination.

Author's Response: Thank you!  It's part of a series at least, that's some consolation right?

    Author's Response: Thank you!

Ooooh. Niiiice. I love this universe. I really like this James. Ah. Thanks for this little tidbit. :o).

Author's Response: Tidbit is right, it's a Parchment Underground hors d'oeuvre!  I was trying to show how James had been forced to view Snape as a protector, and therefore explain a little bit about why he treats Snape the way he does, especially in later stories.  Not sure I did that particularly well.

Oh wow. Now you've got me curious. Voices from the earring? Hmmm...

Please I want more. I really want to see more of an older Harry and Snape. I'm looking forward to seeing how they three can build a relationship while knowing that Harry is really James. I hope that Snape can continue to be a father to Harry and that James can play a role too.

This little drabble intrigued me though. Curious, very curious!

    Author's Response:

The voice from the earring is Snape's.  Whenever Snape wants James to come, he says James' full name, and James hears it in the earring right before the portkey in the earring activates and takes him to wherever Snape is.

After this, the  rest of the stories are all sequels to Blurring, so the rest is all older Harry and the rest building that relationship and dealing with the rest of their problems.  *grin* I hope you like.

I'm glad James had the nerve to stand up to Bellatrix. Snape was awful to him, though, and then... civil. Hmm. They're in it together, aren't they? Have to get along somehow. Wonderfully done piece. And very dark: makes me want to hide under a blanket and never come out.

    Author's Response:

Thanks, I’m glad you liked, even if it did send you into the dark pits of fanfiction misery.  My James has a real strain of “I just got my tuchus handed to me, I need to go back for more!” running through his demented little head, while Snape is learning just how profound is power over his old enemy is.  Man, I like to mess with them too much for it to be healthy.

Yay! There's more! I have to say that you have now made me love the series with this prequel. It was a very powerful read and something I'd love to go over again sometime. And can I just say I *adored* the scene where Snape calmed his son down - and then the immediate contradiction where he was nasty to James! You've got me completely hooked on this universe now - unlike some 'Voldemort won' scenarios, it is so fresh and leaves me longing for more. Great prequel!

    Author's Response:

Thanks, I'm so glad you liked it.  One of the things Tabitha mentioned when "Blurring" was in beta was that Snape was kind of an ogre to Harry and there was no indication that they were close.  Now, I added some to "Blurring" to show they had a bond, but I also wanted to reaffirm that bond in subsequent installments.  In some ways, James and Severus reverse the dynamics that they had with regards to Harry in "Blurring" in this fic.

So many "Voldemort won" fics are just an excuse to write kinky sex, *shifty eyes* and this is not how I roll, thanks.  I just want to twist everyone up.  Also, in "Blurring" and "Spectacles" I wanted to focus very narrowly on this internal family dynamic.  This is part of the reason so much of it is from James' point of view.  He is of all of them, the most isolated and the most at the mercy of the internal forces.  I do intend to widen my scope to chunks of the rest of the world in later installments, though I will still focus on the family group.

Wow, Attack. That was really powerful. I absolutely loved it, but I'm speechless. I don't know what to say except that it was so, so powerful. The emotions and pain were so raw and yet it was beautiful. Wonderfully done, and I can't wait to read more from this universe. Phenomenal.

    Author's Response:

Thanks!  I think from now on, my goal for a fic should be to leave you incoherent.  Honestly though, if "Blurring" forced its way out, I had to drag this one into the world kicking and screaming.  One friend of mine said about "Blurring" that as unpleasant and scary that world was, the way I focused on the family problem made her think there was something really nasty right on the edge of the story that I wasn't showing.  In this case, it's partly the world, and partly the way James and Severus developed their extremely unhealthy codependent family dynamic.

Awesome and bloodcurdling *feels tad sick* But they are on slightly better terms than I expected at this point, hm. And of course, Harry is a dear.

    Author's Response:

I'm glad you like it. *runs to fetch you a barf bag*

I don't know, tossing James around the hallway is not really the sign of better terms...

OmG! That was amazing. I could feel the blood in James' mouth, I could "feel" the bones crushing in his nose and the blood dripping down the back of his throat. Wonderful descriptions. They were really vivid Though. I flinched everytime Poor James was tortured.

I adored baby Harry. What a cutie.

Ooh, I can't wait for more of this. Now we get the seuqel? Right?

    Author's Response:

Thanks! I did have an edge; I have broken my nose twice and there's a stain on the sidewalk of my old middle school where I spat a mouthful of blood.  I'm not very nice in this fic, am I?  I'm glad you liked baby Harry.  I was worried people would think it was too cutesy for the story.

Yesyes, next you get a sequel... or another prequel, one or the other.
