Reviews For Spectacles
Author's Response: Thank you!
Author's Response: Thanks, I’m glad you liked, even if it did send you into the dark pits of fanfiction misery. My James has a real strain of “I just got my tuchus handed to me, I need to go back for more!” running through his demented little head, while Snape is learning just how profound is power over his old enemy is. Man, I like to mess with them too much for it to be healthy.
Author's Response: Thanks, I'm so glad you liked it. One of the things Tabitha mentioned when "Blurring" was in beta was that Snape was kind of an ogre to Harry and there was no indication that they were close. Now, I added some to "Blurring" to show they had a bond, but I also wanted to reaffirm that bond in subsequent installments. In some ways, James and Severus reverse the dynamics that they had with regards to Harry in "Blurring" in this fic. So many "Voldemort won" fics are just an excuse to write kinky sex, *shifty eyes* and this is not how I roll, thanks. I just want to twist everyone up. Also, in "Blurring" and "Spectacles" I wanted to focus very narrowly on this internal family dynamic. This is part of the reason so much of it is from James' point of view. He is of all of them, the most isolated and the most at the mercy of the internal forces. I do intend to widen my scope to chunks of the rest of the world in later installments, though I will still focus on the family group.
Author's Response:
Thanks! I think from now on, my goal for a fic should be to leave you incoherent. Honestly though, if "Blurring" forced its way out, I had to drag this one into the world kicking and screaming. One friend of mine said about "Blurring" that as unpleasant and scary that world was, the way I focused on the family problem made her think there was something really nasty right on the edge of the story that I wasn't showing. In this case, it's partly the world, and partly the way James and Severus developed their extremely unhealthy codependent family dynamic.
Author's Response: I'm glad you like it. *runs to fetch you a barf bag* I don't know, tossing James around the hallway is not really the sign of better terms...
I adored baby Harry. What a cutie. Ooh, I can't wait for more of this. Now we get the seuqel? Right? Author's Response: Thanks! I did have an edge; I have broken my nose twice and there's a stain on the sidewalk of my old middle school where I spat a mouthful of blood. I'm not very nice in this fic, am I? I'm glad you liked baby Harry. I was worried people would think it was too cutesy for the story. Yesyes, next you get a sequel... or another prequel, one or the other. |
