Summary: Harry gets sick or injured at The Dursleys and has to have surgery, The Dursleys refuse to care for him so Dumbledore calls in Snape to care for Harry, what will happen?

Summary: Write a story where either Severus or Harry is suicidal, or even both. Do they off themselves, or can they be each other's cure? Does Dumbledore know? And why are they suicidal? This challenge is to spread awareness of mental illness. In recent years, adolescents have had an increase in reported mental illnesses, and It's time we acknowledge that. Even wizards aren't immune.

Summary: Harry has an unfortunate, and dangerous habit of sleepwalking.

Summary: Harry Potter gets fed up with being demonized, both in person by the Dursleys and the kids at school as well as in ink by Skeeter and her ilk. So he creates an anonymous editorial; you can have him print it in the Daily Prophet if you want (as long as its somewhere that it gets loads of attention). The thing is, this new writer has such a scathing tongue that even Severus Snape likes to read his new posts every morning at breakfast. This new writer is calling out everyone -- from Fudge and his cowardice to Dumbledore and his manipulations. And every morning at breakfast in the Great Hall, a pair of green eyes gleefully take in the reactions to his written take downs. Maybe Harry Potter cant stand up for himself in person by telling the wizarding world how ridiculous it is, but (insert pen name) certainly can.

Summary: Petunia is given a second chance at being a better person when she's sent to the past and reconciles with Lily as children. After the Order fails to protect her sister, she's left with raising Harry all on her own and keeping Lily's last secret. Harry grows up knowing all about Hogwarts, magic, and his mother, but never hears about "that boy" that was his father. Severus was presumed KIA during the war, and Petunia never heard anything more.

Summary: Voldemort did more than sponsor Snape's potions mastery, he also sponsored his healer qualifications as they needed a competent healer on their side. His focus was on dark curses.

As part of healer training, the healer must swear the magical Hippocratic oath (can be any wording you'd like but has to have the "first do no harm" portion). This oath is binding to the healer's magic, so in promoting Snape's profession, Voldemort knows that he is losing a soldier in his war.

How does this change things going forward?

Summary: Snape asks Harry to pretend to be his son for reasons... all along knowing that Harry is his actual son, and Harry has no clue.

Summary: Snape doesn't get knocked out when he is disarmed in the Shrieking Shack in 3rd year. He sees everything that happens with Pettigrew and believes the story and is therefore less likely to notify the Ministry when they get back to the castle. He also hears Harry agree WAY to quickly to move in with Sirius. How does this affect things moving forward? The selected categories are a suggestion.

Summary: Instead of going to Dumbledore when Lily is threatened, Snape goes to the Auror department (not to the head of the department, Crouch, someone else he knows and can trust, up to you) to protect the Potters. They also ask him to spy, essentially making him a magical 007, highly classified, and start a magical black ops department (MI7?). When the war is finished, they blackmail him (OR stop him from committing suicide by giving him a purpose to keep another dark lord from rising, OR make it a condition of his staying out of prison - your choice) into staying on, putting him into his own "CSI" like department. In this department he frequently interacts with the Muggle side of the law, assisting them in "weird" (according to Scotland Yard) crimes using his unique set of skills in potioneering, spell creation, dark arts, and spying. As part of his liaison work, he frequently gets pulled into accidental magic cases of muggle-born children that are being abused. Kids whose magic defends themselves in 'interesting' ways. This part of his work brings him into contact with Harry when his accidental magic defends him. Now he hasn't been working with Dumbledore at all, hasn't been sworn to protect Harry, and hasn't been told that Harry has been pampered for years. How does he react? How does he handle the case? I'm envisioning a story primarily from Snape's point of view, maybe in a gritty cop-type story/film noir feel with a dash of spy drama thrown in at the beginning and throughout. Does he continue to spy after the war? If your story goes on long enough, does he go back to spying? How does the liaison position work, is he great at blending into the muggle world as well? Does he spy for the Muggle Government as well? The world is wide open, have fun.
