Reviews For Never Again!
I loved the memories Sev recalled, it was very heartwarming that Severus realized that Lily excepted him and loved him. What Tobias said that happened to him when Sev was little was really quite shocking, and explains his fear of magic. Very creative. Though, it's no excuse for being abusive. I think that this is a very good idea, if Tobias understands what Sev went though and how he felt, then he will truly regret it and try even harder to never act like that again. I'm somewhat dreading next chapter, but I must know what Sev went through! Man, you can really feel the angst from Sev, that one quote, "And what about me dad?" made my eyes water. You can tell that deep inside he still strives for acceptance and love from his parent. Beautiful take on emotions! Can't wait for your next chapter! Must remember to bring a tissue box along before reading it though.... Ah, but I do love the emotional scenes! Author's Response: Yes that was my idea too! Tobias needs to really empathize with his son, and feel what Sev felt in order to truly know what he did was horribly wrong. And he will, by the time Sev's spell runs it's course. Be warned--I'm going to have some MAJOR emotional scenes here--not graphic, but major ones where you'll probably need a box of Kleenex, especially at the end of the chapter. And I like how you picked up on the scene between Severus and Lily, to me that was a very moving scene as well. And yes, poor Sev, deep inside he's still a lost little boy needing and longing for Tobias to tell him that he loves him. And if you're somewhat dreading reading the next chapter, I'm somewhat dreading having to write it--I tend to get very involved and will probably be shedding tears of my own writing this. Oh well, whatever works and I need that emotional impact, or else it won't be good, right?
Author's Response: God help them, they can! Although it is understandable, since Severus never had the chance to tell Tobias how he really felt before!
Author's Response: Yes, the next chapter, which I'm working on now, should be quite interesting and hopefully will really drive home to Tobias the awful impact his abuse had on his son and why he must never ever repeat his past mistakes!
Sev setting Tobias on fire I could see why Tobias would be scared of him (not an excuse for abuse however). Tobias experiencing Sev's past... this should be interesting Author's Response: I know, that line choked me up too . . .and I wrote it. I wanted to show that Severus still has that needy little boy inside of him, the one who longs to be reassured that his father still loves him, since Tobias never told him or showed him as a child. You're right about the fire incident, and it's not an excuse for abuse, though Tobias tries to wriggle out of the guilt he feels by using it as a crutch. Doesn't work though, as you can see. And the next chapter has lots and lots of drama. I'm probably gonna cry writing it! Sometimes that happens, LOL.
Your ideas for the circus were really something, they sound quite interesting and realistic for the wizarding world. You described things really well, I could picture what they were seeing and Dagger’s appearance as well. Matthew's past sounds both sad and interesting, I like how you gave him such a background, and he sounds like a really good friend for trying to help Sev from going through what he did. The meeting with Dagger was really fun; Harry was sweet and funny, and Dagger sounds like a great guy. I found their conversation enjoyable to read, it’s cute Sev has a fan ^^, and it’s sweet they gave the kids a little something from their heroes. I found it sad that Tobias watched from afar and felt so low. Hope to read the talk soon! I'll have to brace myself for the angst, though, I'm a sucker for emotional scenes, lol. P.S. I like your take on Zabini, he sounds like a nice kid, and your right, who says Harry can't have two guy buds? I'm also glad to hear you like the Weasleys and Hermione, they are some of my favorite characters. I don’t care for Draco either, and your right, since Lucius tried to kill Sev they wouldn’t get along anyway. I really hope you do make a sequel! Perhaps Harry can meet Hermione at his muggle primary school? Author's Response: Now there's an idea and I hope I can write a sequel soon, I'd love to put all the kids together and have them get into mischief and fun together! Another reviewer suggested I could also put in Samantha, Dagger's daughter too. I loved writing about Matthew, he's such a sweet and yet sad character and he really is a good friend. Dagger was great fun to write and so was the circus, I tried to imagine different acts and animals and I'm glad they made sense, sometimes I'm never sure if the things i invent work. The talk is posted and beware--it is emotional as hell! And the next chapter will be too! Thanks for your awesome review! :)
Author's Response: Glad you enjoyed it and I like writing scenes like that one, it makes for a more believable story! And I've already updated!
Author's Response: Yes, it was sad, but then I intended it to be. I liked the conversation with Matthew because I get to add some more background to Dr. Morgan, he's an interesting fellow! And Dagger wa sjust plain fun to write! Keep reading and thanks for reviewing! You're my 200th reviewer!
As for the previous chapter, I appreciated how you touched on the fact that Harry was more distraught about disappointing his dad than the spanking itself. Of course, five swats aren't going to do much damage, but the fact that Harry is wailing over his knee shows that he definitely understood that he'd done something dangerous enough to upset his father so much. I enjoyed these last two installments. Thanks for another quick update! Author's Response: Funny, how those little things aren't even planned, they're improves I throw in while I'm writing the major scenes and they just pop up as I'm writing. My brain works in mysterious ways sometimes. And for the punishment, I always think the disappointment a child feels hurts more than the actual spanking, at least it did when I was a kid. Plus, Severus would not be harsher than Tobias, given what he went through and to a six-year-old five swats is plenty, though Tobias gave him more. I should be posting the next chapter in a few minutes!!
Author's Response: Thanks Alexis, and I just did, by the way! This one was fun to write, but the next one, is full of drama! Enjoy!
Author's Response: It is VERY effective, and I've used it in real life, as a matter of fact. On my nephew once, when he said he wasn't going to listen to me when I babysat him. I told him, fine, you don't listen to me and I won't listen to you, he was around eight. After an hour and a half, he was begging me to stop and promising he'd do whatever I wanted. |
