I was hoping to see a bond forming between Harry and Snape by now. But they keeping running around in circles. I was really hoping that Snape would have acknowledged Harry's mistreatment at the Dursley but he disregarded the whole thing as if it was nothing. I'm looking forward to them bonding... really bonding and seeing each other as they are meant to be seen.

Jeez, Harry's a dolt sometimes. Hope he does some growing up soon. I believe we're starting to get as bored with this behavior of his as Snape is.

Well, since there are no updates, I'll just review the last chapter again :-)

I especially loved Harry's rumifications on parents in this chapter. Of course he thinks adults (and parents especially) are basically stupid (except for his own - dead and therefor mythically good) - parents); look at what sort of parents he has experienced. The Dursleys are enslaved to their darling Dudley, believing him to be the pinnacle of boyhood. Dudley gets away with murder. The Weasleys are, well, dumb. Arthur has lost the fight of staying on top of his brood and is regarded by even his youngest children as 'duddy old daddy who spents most of his time tinkering in his shed with his muggle toys'. Molly is a rather stupid and vulgar harridan. I know, I sound harsh, but I can't stand her. If only she stopped screaming! And believing everything Witch Weekly says. And stop being so passive-agressive.

Anyway, Harry's experience with (other people's) parents is small and what he has seen doesn't encourage him to trust adults. I'm glad you pointed that out. It's also fun to see Harry grudgingly aknowledge that Snape is realiable, if only in the way he behaves against Harry.

And the corner episode was hilarious (although I already said that in my first, hastily written, review) And do my eyes deceive me? Is that a kernel of self restraint I see developing in Harry? For the time being, it didn’t really matter about finishing a fight– Harry could always argue with Snape later about who was right and who was being a complete arse. There is hope yet for the boy! :-)

Hah! I loved the 'discussion of Harry's past' bit! Harry wheedling on about how bad it was (and of course it was), and Snape giving him the 'if life hands you a lemon, make lemonade' philosophy. And very right he is! Maybe I'm showing my age (I'm 40 - eek!) but that's the way I was raised, you know. And if there is one thing that makes me blind with rage it's this bl*&%#dy attitude that's so prevailant the past twenty years or so that everybody is a *victim*. That's right. We used to be citizins. We used to be human beings. Now we are helpless victims. Victims of our parents, victims of socio-economics, victims of this, that or the other. Harry might feel rather good - for a short while - if Snape would've patted him on the head and say something like "oh dear, you're right, life has treated you bad, you're excused from behaving like a civilized being or living up to my expectations as a student because of your sad, sad, past", but it won't do him any good in the end. Not only because it's right humiliating to be treated like poor waif that couldn't possibly better himself, but because this attitude will *trap* him. Trap him in the position he is now (as a victim of circumstance) and trap him in his mindset. Better to acknowledge that, yes, life has handed him a lemon in the first eleven years of his life, but that he has the power and the responsibility (as a civilised human being) to grow above his shaky start in life.

Loved the bit where Harry was put in to the corner... Thought the bit where Snape threw Harry into the lake a bit over the top, at first, but then I realized that Snape was rather.. playful.. in his reaction. A few days earlier he would have spanked the brat for throwing mud at him, but now he scares the boy with his cardriving and throws him in the lake. A playful Snape! A very snapish playfulness.. :-) Fun!

whew, its been awhile! standing in the corner sucks~~! I wonder if that could be a conditioning behavior, making someone go crazy by staring at perpendicular intersections. heheh, maybe we should try it with voldemort!

bad voldie, go stand in the corner and think about the mean things you have done to those ppl!

well, i liked almost all of it. You've managed to keep everyone in character until now, and it was only a very small thing. well, it was the whole chapter, but only a very small part of Harry. The fact that he was willing to tell Snape about his childhood and prove to him how bad it was didn't seem very Harryish to me. Snape's reaction was very original and i liked it. It seemed more likely than anything else i've read before. well, that's my 2 cents worth. Update soon!

Hi I’m back.having read the chapter now I have to say that it was great as always!

now snape knows about harry’s childhood .you know..i admire the way you’ve kept him in character so well. I like snape the way he is.

And I also wanted to ask something and after reading the reviews I saw that Felinedreams somehow mentioned it. I mean will come a situation in which harry realizes how much he cares for snape?(i know you don’t want to give away anything…)and you’ve done a great job in building the realationship between them.

But you know if harry knows how much snape cares for him.and also he cares for snape I think his punishments will be more effective!the only thing that harry thinks about right now is how to get rid of snape and bring back sirius.if it was sirius who punishes harry would he start seeking trouble so soon after? It’s not actually the pain that makes the punishment effective it’s the feeling of shame and regret that you feel afterwards cause of having someone you love mad at you(disappointed in you and ….).

I also like to see them grow closer GRADUALLY!It’s interesting to see how time can change feelings and people(in a good or bad way)!

Great chapter. Loved when Harry told Snape about his childhood. I thought Snapes reaction was perfect. No softysofty, no "I will kill the Dursleys", just a neutral "so what?" expression, but inside I think he realises that Harry is not the pampered brat Snape thought he was.

As I said before, really great chapter. Now, I'm looking forward to the scene where Harry gets his mouth washed out with soap:P Hurry up with the next chapter!

I really appreciate the way you are letting their relationship evolve slowly. Harry and Snape both are very much in character.
You had me rolling on the floor when Snape told Harry to go stand in the corner the moment Harry entered the dining room all ready to start a fight.Hilarious.
Im kind of feeling sorry for Snape, he has to be on his guard all the time to keep Harry from getting into trouble. Harry really is very talented in finding the most trouble in the unlikeliest places. Thank you for updating so regularly!
